*shrug* My main issue is the statement that ships dont upgrade much/at all, just diffrent styles/looks. I dont mind sinking rediculous amounts of time into games like these, but fuck if I dont expect to be able to updrade my ship to insane levels :)

That and I guess the guns have little variation except more power. People are saying they all look the same, shoot the same, etc. Either way, I'll probably end up trying it. Either a rental or I'll use the best buy gamers club discount with a 25 dollar gift cert so I can get it cheap. There isn't much around the corner yet until fall.

Yeah he made it to the actual center but no idea what that does for anyone anyway. He did it using mechanics in the game that were not balanced with regards to money and this "Atlus" thing. My guess is they nerfed the Atlus or price of resell value. The guy kept finding them, selling them for massive amounts of money, then buying the resources needed for getting to the center.

Watched some of the last video the guy who made the leak did.

He said that it wasn't just the money from the stones, but rather that every time you enter a new system, there is a star station. That star station is identical in that it contains a minimum of two I think, with a maximum of 4 rooms. The room layout and locations are the same each time. Shows it by running to them and saying "sometimes there is a door there, sometimes not". These rooms contain canisters you can loot for free which he says contains one of four items, either a resource used for warp fuel, or the actual fuel itself.

Once you get a key, each station also contains an upgrade part for your inventory, which is why he started going to the stations. To get more inventory space for gathering, then he realized he could use the same way to get to the galaxy faster. So from what I gather, if he had caught up on the similarities of the space stations earlier, going to the center would have been shorter than the 30 hours. His maxed inventory space was around twice the size of his ship.

Now, while I have no doubt that the constant resources will be patched, as well as the price for the stone, one thing that struck me has been what I have been concerned with from the start.

"Infinite" amount of planets, but there is a limit on the graphical resources to display them. How many until you start seeing the same ones? Doing the same things? 100? 200?
The leak guy explaining that every station is the same with the exception of doors being opened does not exactly scream diversity. Would imagine different races had different architecture, unless we are in some Mass Effect storyline of "someone built all the space stations (relays), but not sure who".

As to there being multiple galaxies, not sure. In the leak he showed how his map bounced into a wall at the center, couldn't travel past it. So it doesn't sound like you're in a circle around a center, but rather more like in a cone going to the middle. If it was a circle, why would you not be able to progress behind it? Would make sense for the outer circle to have a wall, which makes you go towards the center and not away from it, but to show the wall at the star station right next to the center of the galaxy was strange.

To naming, no I have not seen that happen once. It just says the randomly generated name + discovered date.

Last I heard of naming was in the IGN video where they said it was currently shut off or somesuch, and would contain a word filter. It "might" be that naming becomes a thing if there actually is a server that goes live on launch. Though as I have said earlier, highly doubt anything other than names will be uploaded and even if you found yourself on the same planet as someone, you would not see them or the impact they were making like digging/shooting things.

Sad how my hype, like so many, has died for this game. I'm still curious about it and want to give it a try but I'll wait for a review and a sale. Also, if they would have just priced it at normal indie game pricing I probably would have said screw it and purchased it. I wonder how many people are running into this without seeing all the recent news. Bro1 "Yo, what planet are you on? Lets party up!" Bro2 "..."

I think a lot of people who were "hyped" for this game were expecting a more interactive EVE when the game has clearly not been described as that for years by the developers.

I'm still stoked for it.

I've always expected and looked forward to a single player exploration game with occasional glimpses of other players, maybe like Destiny "zones." I haven't spoiled myself through any leak videos but I assume a lot of complaints will be addressed with the inevitable day zero patch.

That's what I've been saying as well. It's weird people are getting this idea of some grand space game with epic space battles like an EVE / Star Citizen done better but.. they've never said that at all, that was never the goal. I'm not hype but I'm definitely going to pick it up and probably get my moneys worth out of it.

First, please dont mix the epic space battles in EVE with the 16ppl per server in Star Citizen :) There is nothing epic about that game yet.

Second, yes I think (as usual) that the fucking hype-train has been built on a foundation on;

Guy1:"Would be nice with Capital Ships down the line"
Guy2:"Capital ships comming later, maybe?"
Guy3:"Capital ships to be included in NMS! Breaking news!"
Repeat for every feature dreamed about by fanatics.

But Utnayan is also right, the devs have not exactly been good at clearly communicating information regarding the game. When I got some time to surf through interviews, a lot of the stuff that they have said is open to interpetation and is quite wrong unless you understand the context in which it was said. When the fanatics then quote one line out of an interview as "proof" of something being in a certain way it gets confusing fast. They they take that one line and build it into some feature they desperatly want to happen.

I have no expectations for this game other than being able to transition from space to planet without a loading screen.

Buy me the game and I'll give you an honest review ;)

Spore is what I am thinking as well. Interesting up until the point where you got to explore fully and saw how generic it was.

As I mentioned in the last post, I think that they will patch the star bases to no longer have as many resources and tune the atlas stone. However.... what if those items and prices were tuned to be in sync with the longevity of the actual game? If they now drastically reduce the ability to progress through star bases, how long before it becomes really monotonous?

You enter planet, mine and explore. Nothing is saved, nothing can be built. The game is about moving forwards, not back. You get the resources you need to craft new items, and move on. Patching the star bases will do nothing to change the above game mechanics, and from what is shown so far, there don't seem to be any other mechanics in play at all. Explore, gather, craft, move on, repeat.

All they would accomplish would be to extend the amount of time it takes to acquire warp fuel and extend your inventory. With nothing gained but the time it takes to gather the resources, it makes me think that the way the star bases funcioned were actually intended and not a bug/glitch/exploit. Because the developers knew that with no progress, people would faster see how little "game" there was.

Slow progression with little rewards when you do manage to progress isn't exactly the formula for GOTY titles.

Agreed. At this point they are better off leaving it how it is.

Basically with everything we know now, this should be a $20 dollar Indie game. And if that were the case, I am pretty sure we would all be a lot more forgiving. A team of 12 people made this thing. Which is really nothing more than Minecraft in Space which at launch sold for what, 14-19 bucks if that?

I dont know why, but I got into my head that Sony stepped into the development of this to have a VR showcase game. This is why they market it as an AAA game rather then and indie game.

But now I cant find anything about that besides "Yeah, VR would be cool, we look into that". Is this something I dreamed up on my own? If Sony had embraced this I guess it should have gotten a ton more resources and manpower or something.

Definitely that. It also was on Steam for $29 for a few days when it first was available for pre-purchase, and then switched to $59 shortly after.
