What is so funny? Implosion type weapons are finicky as shit, and it's entirely possible for the detonation to only partially cook off, with most of the fissile material wasted. At least as far as I understand things.

As you mentioned before, gun-type weapons are simple. You fire a bullet of highly enriched uranium at a target of highly enriched uranium, the two combined reach critical mass, boom. As long as the bullet is traveling fast enough at the target, success is trivial.
With an implosion weapon, you are using conventional explosives to compress a non-critical mass of fissile material until it reaches critical mass, then boom. Simple concept, difficult to implement.
This only covers single stage weapons, like the devices deployed against Japan. Multi-stage weapons (the ones that reach megaton yields) are beyond my casual understanding.
