feels like the supply of people who will pay "almost anything" for a 3080 is getting low, stockX is sneaker boi'ing hard the FEs down to the ground. Went from $1500 two days ago to $1300 now. on eBay the supply has shot up, from ~85 listings average 2 days ago to almost 150 now and increasing every day with the price dropping as well.
No doubt resellers will continue to make a profit but the price keeps going down and down, not up, and the Amazon warehouse info has been 100% accurate so far with an ASUS and TUF drop on amazon overnight exactly matching what he said (just a few units so sold out in under a second).
He said there will be 35,000 EVGA cards for sale on amazon after the 10th, probably on Amazon Prime Day the 13-14th. It'll make huge news around the internet if amazon has 3080s for sale for a significant chunk of time, and 35k cards will provide that plus a lot of buzz around Prime Day. Resellers will start panicking soon as news of that release gets wider and wider.

I sold the one MSI I got from Newegg for 1370 which is about 1200 after ebay/PayPal bullshit
Think I can get at least 1400 for these, maybe more, since everyone wants EVGA for step up.

Why buy a 3080 to step up... ??
You'd be paying you $1400 THEN whatever the difference is between the cards retail value, so presumably another 800-900. Just buy a scalped 3090 if youre that desperate.

You’re actually not wrong. I wouldn’t be able to move these at any reasonable speed in my small city so I’m paying for access to a much bigger market place. Hopefully there is enough demand locally for the PS5s and Xboxs to move them locally. I live in a very gun friendly state so I plan to go to the meet up armed to the teeth, and if the buyer tries anything cute, turn the whole motherfucker into the OK corral.

I think the idea is if you have the 3080 you'd be eligible to step up to the 4080 or whatever when that time comes. You're still paying a premium for a card, yes, but you're doing that regardless of the manufacturer. It's value added.

Curious why you are banking on the step up to sell 3080s? That’s generally for if someone bought something stupid like a 2080 right before the 2080ti came out and they wanted to exchange it. It’s only a 90 day window from original purchase. People aren’t going to buy the 3080 and exercise the step up, because the 3080 IS the new product people want to step up to.

Ah yeah I misunderstood the step-up program then, it was something completely different in my mind. I had the idea of you being able to trade in your card to get some value towards the next gen of card, whenever that might be. But thinking it through now, yeah, that seems retarded.

Ah, I think you’re misunderstanding what it is. 4080 isn’t coming out in the next 3 months. Maybe the 3080 20gb model would be a possible step up product

Sold the EVGA Black pretty quickly for $1350. Almost lost my shirt on the shipping though, included free expedited UPS shipping which cost me $50 since I included insurance. Gonna try to get $1420 or more for the other card over ebay and use USPS instead (even though they're awful).
Also had a pretty shady craigslist inquiry from someone wanting to do a cash deal for the other card. Debating this one.
