I missed that, thanks. Signed up, hopefully they don’t restock at 11pm while I’m in bed, only to wake up to a “you’re too slow” email.

Do I trust the system to work as intended? No
Do I think there's probably already some crazy backlog which means that my spot won't come up until next March? Yes

Still signed up though. For all the talk of PC gaming master race, this feels like an abusive relationship.

Now I need to know when the 20gb version comes out, and know which is using the reference pcb (for waterblock reasons) to know which card to get

if you're dying for a new card its simpler just to buy a new PC around it, this has been going in and out of stock all week

$1900 for a 3080 + a basic system around it, way better than paying ebay prices. There will be more resellers like this with prebuilts I imagine

Seen a few 3080 pre-builts from them already. Couple issues I have:

1) How is that company's reputation as a PC builder?
2) As a point of personal pride -- the shame I would incur by resorting to a pre-built.

Meh I just built my pc, card is the last piece. I’m not that desperate, but if I was still on my aging PC that wouldn’t be too bad.

Pretty good as in they've been around for awhile. Not sure if they're better or worse these days. Linus did a video on a bunch of prebuilts companies you may want to check out.

Prebuilts doesn't carry much shame these days. It only costs a few extra bucks whereas years ago the price difference was substantial.

Depends if we're talking prebuilts with off-the-shelf components or OEM specific motherboards. OEM specific motherboards can't overclock for shit or use high speed memory.

An accusation has been made on Reddit that MSI might be involved in a scalping process through its US subsidiary on eBay.

The eBay listing reveals that the company known as Starlit Partner has sold four GeForce RTX 3080 graphics cards at a price if 1,359 USD. That is almost twice as much as the NVIDIA suggested retail price for this SKU and around 600 USD more than the retail price for this particular MSI GAMING X model. Well, this wouldn’t be a story if not for the fact that the company is owned by MSI USA.

Justitia trademark information confirms that the eBay seller “Starlit Partner” is owned by MSI Computer Corp. According to Bloomberg’s public information, MSI Computer Corp. has board members from Micro-Star International Co Ltd, so from the headquarters of MSI Taiwan. All these companies are connected.

Shortly before we published this article MSI USA confirmed that the company Starlit Partner is an individual sales subsidiary working under MSI. The subsidiary has been selling excess inventory for MSI. However, it had access to inventory that they were not permitted to handle.

Respect to MSI for embracing capitalism and the free market. A stark contrast to the commies at EVGA and their, “get in the breadline for a GPU” approach to distribution.
