From what I know of amazon through people who have dealt directly with them, when a company approaches them to sell on amazon fulfilled via amazon, they tell that company “We will sell X amount of your product at Y price and you will sell them to us at Z price.” They don’t negotiate and you have to agree or choose not to sell through them. Whether or not those orders get fully filled by the company is another story. So this guy may have the details on what was agreed to be fulfilled, but the companies aren’t able to fill the order for whatever reason.

How much effort is involved in being a successful scalper like @chinabatsoup
I wouldn’t mind some easy side income if I can just set up some shit and have the capital to buy large quantities for resale. Plus I can just undercut him 5% and I’ll be set

You’re never going to get “large quantities “ it will almost always be one card at a time.

these kind of things the money is in the first 2-3 weeks, the money isn't so great anymore. Its a $300-600 profit per 3080 card now, and the supply keeps growing on the resell market. For example there are currently 427 3080s on ebay right now, 353 BIN rtx 3080 | eBay They are selling at a healthy 60-100 cards a day so its "only" 5-6 days of inventory available, but every restock bumps up the supply.

The lowest non PNY/Zotacs (shit cards) are in the $1300-1400 range, FEs are in the $1600 range and ticking up because clearly more people want the FEs over third party AIBs. eBay will dock you 8-13% fees (deps on your sell volume) plus you have to ship the thing and most listings offer free shipping, thats another $30-50 since you'll want to insure the shipment. Mercari charges similar fees, you can try on offerup/craigslist but your potential buy group is now tiny.

Now actually GETTING the cards, you basically have to monitor a few bots 24x7 and have scripts ready to auto checkout. Even then you will probably fail, or only get 1 card maybe once per week. So thats potentially 20-30 hours of monitoring for 1-2 payouts a week. It is far less attractive as an ROI at that level.

For what its worth I didn't really care much and I've bought 2 Nvidia FE 3080s from nvidia themselves and "bought" two ASUS/EVGAs from amazon (but cancelled both orders), I'm not keeping either card I ended up selling one locally for $1700 last week (through offerup) and giving the other to a relative as a new PC build for family reasons.

Its not that difficult, but does require lots of free time and access to bots, scripts, specialized discord servers, the ability to make hundreds of evga/gmail accounts, multiple shipping addresses, etc.

Honestly if you just wanna make money fast just buy cards on ebay from low feedback sellers, claim item does not work and return whatever, and resell the 3080 yourself locally. Of course you have to live with cheating another human being out of money. You'd have to rotate through new ebay accounts to pull this off too, dunno how "good" the ebay hacked account market is. There are also eBay sellers who sell 3080 cards for like $600, clearly a scam but I don't know how they "cash out".

Going to be interesting to watch, even though it's focused on Zen 3 it would be surprising if they didn't tease something about rdna 2 It's a golden opportunity and with Nvidia on the ropes after this pretty disastrous launch, they need to take it.

They won’t. Their marketing / video card department is run by fucking idiots who think they’re clever meme’ers. If they were a) competent and b) had something, a smart company would have gotten something out in the media by now. I’m 75% expecting a paper launch (nVidia’s wasn’t a paper launch but nearly as shitty, but they had solid results and the hype was justified).

Amd has a very long history of bullshit when it comes to talking about their upcoming GPU products. (far more than nvidial Don't believe a single thing until there are credible benchmarks

For the EVGA 3080 FTW3 Ultra, the stock is apparently up to 09/17 7:18am for the queue. Gonna be a while, but you can now check your notification settings.

Well that’s unfortunate. Doesn’t have my notification for the 3080, signed up first day available. It does have my one from the years ago though!

nVidia’s wasn’t a paper launch but nearly as shitty
Now that the dust has settled I think Nvidia's launch was very shitty, in a lot of ways.

The 3080 was advertised as twice as fast as the 2080, but at the same time they included CUDA benchmarks like Blender, Arnold and Redshift to pad that number. It is nowhere near twice as fast, and only around 31% faster than a 2080Ti. Maybe 59% improvement over the 2080.

Power consumption shot up from 225W to 320W, and Nvidia clearly used up all the overclocking headroom to push performance numbers. The architecture improvements for existing games are there, but not as much as advertised. If you reduce voltage to below 850mV and clockspeed a bit you only lose around 3 to 4% performance, while also reducing power consumption below the 2080Ti.

The 8nm Samsung node was aimed at low voltage mobile chips with small dice. The yields for the big GPU dice must be abysmal.

Also, the 3080 Ti and/or Super will not save Nvidia this time. The 3090 is only 15% ahead of the 3080, so there is no place for a Ti/Super inbetween the 3080 and 3090.
