you can make a 15gb virtual drive out of your vram and play crysis 3 in it!
20GB vram would be extremely useful if they come out with dual 4k panel VR headsets. That probably won't be happening until 2022 though so by then another gen will be here.
rumors too the 20GB model may be using 7nm photolithography which would probably mean the card overclocks a bit better than the current 8nm 3080s. All just rumors though.

I mean before that we didn't really have GPUs anyway? At least it was during that period that they started making video cards and shit. And yeah the jump was pretty big, early 3D stuff looked crazy compared to what was done before. Although I wasn't much into Quake myself, but Unreal(the original game) was pretty crazy looking. Game was kinda trash as the whole series until they said "fuck the shitty story let's make multi" and released Unreal Tournament, which was great.
I honestly have no idea what I had back in the days though. Voodoo shit and 3DFX and whatever but it's been way too long to remember which models specifically.
Going from software rendered Quake to GLQuake with a voodoo 2 was fucking amazing. It looked and ran so much smoother
