Maybe I misread what you are saying. Why didn’t you buy the nicer one if the $100 is a lot more bang for the buck?
Because the 5900 isn't available, the 5800 is what was. I just don't really want to pull the trigger on a 5800, when I feel I get a lot more "bang for the buck" with the 5900.

The 5800x should have been a $390 part.
Yeah they need to lower the price of the 5800x at this point.

Also, I'm a weak willed person and put the 3070 in my computer. Figure I'll try to find a 3080 or hopefully a 3080ti then sell this thing.

My order had $200 knocked off of it for some reason. Anyways it's still in production so I am guessing I won't be getting it next week.

The fact that you can just a buy a 5800x in stock on Amazon at MSRP is a good sign though.

I know lol, but the reality is these cards don't lose much value at all used. I'm just going to use this fucking thing until I find a replacement.

Yeah, I watercooled my 3080 because I didn't expect 3080ti's to actually be real.

And here I am, 3 months later, and now just outside of my EVGA step up by a couple of weeks, and still no 3080ti's.

Rumors are they're gonna nerf the mining rates of 3080ti's and they'll only have 12 GB of ram. If so the resell on those won't be nearly as good as the normal 3080s.

If the situation now has taught us anything, then that you just gotta wait for your card to have a higher resale value than whatever you purchased it for. It's gonna happen eventually.

Well my current system is 10 years old, can I trade it in for a house yet?

OK, so I now come before you to see if I'm crazy or not.

I need a few card for gaming. I'm woefully behind, which I could deal with until Mrs. Haus Mrs. Haus got me a 4k monitor. Currently running a dual nvidia setup of a GTX 760 paired up with a GTX 660. Yeah, it's that bad. Yes, I am ashamed.

Want to be able to do passable, but not necessarily "max settings" gaming. Don't really plan on any passive crypto mining. Is there a decent "sweet spot" of price/value anywhere out there? I'm not even thinking about 3xxx series, thinking I might not even want to be serious about a 2xxx series unless one makes sense for a "reasonable" price. I just can't see dropping $3k on a video card.

So ideas? Or should I just keep mucking along as the digital equivalent of a leper?

1080 Ti is respectable, probably some Super versions that are acceptable for the cost. If you're not doing more than 60 fps it's more based on the onboard RAM amounts rather than a 3xxx
