Did anyone watch this? lol. 148W power difference on average between the RTX 4080 and the 7900 XTX for the same performance, advantage Nvidia.

That's insane.

Wasn't AMD supposed to lollerskate all over NVIDIA on power draw?

I was a little disappointed I wasnt able to see how much I ended up saving on my electric bill. From March 2020 til March of this year I was at home 24/7 which means my AC was running a lot more, so my electric bill then was fundamentally different. $40 drop between this and last June but obviously most of that is gonna be AC related.

Going back to 2019 though, my June electric bill is exactly the same as this June's. But I also had a different refrigerator, different TV etc.

Psych necro bump almost.

Wife on my old computer trying to start to play with me again has a i5 6600k which I think had been over clocked, 32gb ram

but.......

my card had died and had her old 1070 in it.

I havnt seen prices since I over paid for my 3080. Any suggestions on a cheap as hell card that would be a decent bump now that I thought card process collapsed. like a 2090 or 3060 ti etc?

6750 XTs are on sale for around $330 right now. Extremely solid 1440p option. I wouldn't even bother with a card that had less than 12GB of RAM these days.

The Intel cards are pretty competitive at the low end, but it comes with the cost of having to troubleshoot a lot more. The drivers have come a long way from the shitshow they used to be and poor the performance in DX 11 games has gotten better, but there are still issues. Otherwise you're looking for last gen NVIDIA or AMD. It really depends on what you decide is cheap as hell.

just go 4060ti or 4070. 4070 has 12gb if you can manage it.
Ya id do that if shopping for myself on a budget. She's just playing wow and may not last more than a few months. Sometimes plays boring girl shit games like Sims, Spiro,

I would say im suprised how well the 1070 is s doing granted it's not like she's been in some large raid nor probably ever will

I imagine a 3050 could handle that shit. They start at $250. 3060 if you’re worried it won’t handle it.

I took a look at the old GN review of the 3050. It only beats the 1070 by maybe 10% in most games and the 2060 KO beat it by 15% or so. Doesn't sound like the 3050 would be worth the money.

If it doesn't have 16GB or more it may as well not exist. So $800 and $1000 cards vs the 7900 XT(X) tier of AMD.

Why would anyone buy a 4070 at that price when they can buy a 4070 Super for $50 more?

Anyway, might buy a 4080 Super just because I can, wonder if I can get 600 for my 4080 FE.

4070ti S is very tempting at $800
I've currently got a 3080, but a friend who is running my old 1080 ti is interested in buying it off me if I upgrade. I'd want to get the 4080, but the 4070 ti might be the sweet spot for value. Reviews should be interesting.

The 4080 Super and 4070 ti Super both seem correctly priced for what they provide, at least relative to the rest of the line.

Depends how much power you think you need. If you've got a 4k or 3440x1440 monitor, bigger GPU is always better. Less than that, no real point.
