“I certainly didn’t want anyone else playing Qui-Gon Jinn, and I wanted to show my respect for George [Lucas] and that mythical world that he created,” Neeson told THR. “Plus, Ewan [McGregor] is a pal, and I loved working with him during The Phantom Menace 25 years ago.”

Qui Gon was actually on Tatooine hunting sand people for fun and just stumbled into Obi Wan on accident

Me and my gf both "wtf'd" out loud at one scene in particular

-Obi-wan on some remote planet
-Vader lands in pursuit
-Vader walks up, says "Did you come here to kill me, Obi-wan?"

wtf.png

God this show was such hot garbage. It's like they took a puzzle with some really sweet pieces, and just jumbled the whole thing up until it was unrecognizable and useless. Almost out of spite. It's so obvious it's made by millennials who don't know how to fucking make anything good.

Fucking thing sucks.

Lured him there to kill him? The nitpicking is a bit much, show was great.
is it intelligent to choose to be lured in somewhere and then wonder why you were lured in?
Vader: impressive! OB1 is luring me away from destroying the transport ship full of rebels because he wants to kill me
Vader: even more impressive, i have taken the bait and instead of blasting that transport into microns or launching a shitload of tie fighters or using my tractor beam. i will turn this ship away to that remote planet where i know OB1 will stay indefinitely til i show up, i will ask OB1 if he came here to kill me. that will bake his noodle.

Kenobi wanted to lure Vader away from the rebels.

The rebel guy said that it may not be nessesary but realised that Kenobi wanted to face Vader anyway.

The Grand Inquisitor pointed out to Vader that it was a lure to protect the rebels. Vader overruled him and took the bait intentionally because he wanted to face Kenobi anyway.

Vader asks Kenobi why he came to that planet in particular. Is it for a final duel? Kenobi could have just kept going and tried to escape like the last encounter.

Later The Emperor chides Vader for doing this and still having an emotional attachment to Kenobi, even if it's hatred, because that's an Anakin Skywalker feeling. Vader says he won't do it again.

The duel was logically totally unnessesary, both men allowed it to happen because they wanted it to happen. Kenobi learned that his friend was truly dead and was able to move on and meet Quigon. Vader learned that he still had lingering feelings of Anakin and tried to move on (until Episode 6).

Like do you think that a guy carrying a red lightsaber is going to nuke the guy who dismembered him from orbit, instead of going down there and doing it personally? What franchise do you think this is?

Or you know, maybe he could have taken a Lamda Class shuttle and some Tie Fighter escorts to run down the unarmed shuttle and let the ISD run down the rebel terrorist scum. This shit was even more retarded than TLJ. Starting with, why the hell did the ISD not do what every other ISD in that scenario has done on screen and in the lore and ..... launch some fucking fighters to run down the unarmed craft?

Idiots who do not understand the source material and who are hacks make these kinds of choices. There are a million ways that sequence could have been crafted, but they picked an even more retarded version of the slow motion TLJ chase (they actually scrambled fighters against the rebel fleet) as their go to. I wanted to like this show, and all the pieces were in place for it, but the Kathleen Kenedy Klan strikes again. Enjoy her shitting on whats left of Indiana Jones that Crystal Skull (KK was behind that one too) did not take a dump on, Chris.

this is more of a generic sci-fi gripe in general, but holy fuck how lucky they are to run across planets that are sustainable to human life so often!

This I can forgive for a number of reasons. The reality is way too stark to make for good storytelling, for one. Even slight differences in gravity can make reproduction impossible for humans. Minor atmospheric alterations can be deadly to our form of life, but not perhaps others. Hard science fiction planetary realities are harsh and make telling entertaining stories very difficult. You never see realistic time dilation in most sci-fi for the same reason.

Some sci-fi works have ways to hand wave this. There is the long-gone super race seeded all the goldilocks worlds with a basic genetic template concept (TNG had an episode centered on this based on loose threads from TOS, Builders in the Aliens franchise, the Ancients in the Stargate franchise). There is the entire universe is so old and lived in that everyone has just kind of merged into one more or less standardized biome tolerance range, usually with the current civilizations being build on the ever more buried wreckage of past ones (Star Wars is this more or less, with Farscape, Lexx, and also MCU extraterrestrials largely follow this pattern). There is the God uses procedural open world building to make the universe, i.e. God made everything in his own image for whatever purpose (OG Battlestar Galactica, somewhat Lexx, somewhat OG Dr Who, and the Starcraft franchise). Finally there is the one long lived super civ just terraformed everything to suit them model (Dune, New BSG, Foundation series, and 2001/2010 kind of fall here).

Usually, its a part of world building that does not get covered because sci-fi stories are often just allegories for human tales.

Have you seen Star Wars before?
This is a forum full of people that bitched at me when I pointed out that the writing in the original trilogy was sloppy, pointing to the fact that Lucas obviously had no clue during IV that Luke was Vader's son, and the fact that Lucas obviously had no clue during V that Leia was Luke's sister. And etc.

You'll never reason with them. They are nostalgia-fueled fanboys even if they don't realize it.

P s. This show was great even if it wasn't perfect

I want to be there with you, I really do, but they fucked vader up. If anyone actually should have been whacked by Vader it was Reva. Give me any reasonable explanation, based on what we know about a guy that chokes motherfuckers out over a video screen for making his life slightly more difficult, as to why both he AND the Grand Inquisitor let her live after her betrayals?

After his death in Rebels, Vader binds the spirit of the Grand Inquisitor to an abandoned Jedi Temple. This is a canon thing, not EU. The idea that they would have left Reva alive is utterly laughable.

I'll be damned, the last episode was actually good overall--the second-to-last episode wasn't too bad either. Of course, I don't know if it compensates for how uneven the rest of the series was, but at least we got one good lightsaber fight out of the series.

It wasn't the lighsaber fight or Obi-Wan going Super Saiyan with a thousand rocks or Darth Vader unmasked, it was the 1 minute scene of Obi Wan and Darth just talking, the two acting their asses off, and you can feel how FUCKED up Obi-Wan feels about the whole thing while Anakin is just fueled by hate and rage, made slogging through 6 episodes of mostly bullshit worth it.

I'm sure in the future someone will recut this entire series into a single short movie, no Reva or Leia silly scenes, and it'll be a nice little 20 minute addition to Revenge of the Sith

Drives me nuts when people write Artoo Deetoo and Ceethreepio, which is apparently all the official scripts and novelisations.
