C'mon man, this is Blizzard. There will be a new expansion or a remake of the game with in 3 years. No I don't and you don't either. Fracturing the playerbase is a problem for online shooters and I hope it is something Blizzard avoids.

Pretty sure it was implied OW would lean on expansions for expanding the game.No I don't and you don't either. Fracturing the playerbase is a problem for online shooters and I hope it is something Blizzard avoids.
Not saying it can't happen, but none of this makes sense.Pretty sure it was implied OW would lean on expansions for expanding the game.
So $40 gets you the base game. No extra heroes to purchase individually, only cosmetics.
Next content release would be an expansion with more heroes.
I doubt it'll fracture the playerbase, it'll just open up more heroes but you'll still play in the same environment even if you don't own the expansions (new heroes).
Regarding maps, they'll have to give everyone access to the maps so that the playerbase isn't fractured.
I could see maybe 4-6 hero "expansions" at a ~$20 price point.
Oh nice, yea I vaguely remembered the video. Hope they stick by it.I haven't even played the game and I know that new heroes and maps are going to be free updates. Straight from Kaplan himself this past December:
Competitive teams normally run a 2 Winston comp on defense and drop Widow. Can someone link a video of what is considered good Winston play? Does he work in organized play?
It was a happy day when I got enough duplicate drops to save up that 1000 credits to get rid of shit-locks lucio.Well, I'm clearly a racist because the default Lucio skin makes me not want to play him. So I need the metal robot frog skin.
Which is why modern gaming is quickly turning into an ever growing pile of shit. Why focus on gameplay and content when retards are more than happy to empty their bank accounts for a skin or emote? Not saying it can't happen, but none of this makes sense.
Cosmetics is where the money is at. The don't need to sell new heroes/maps when it has a box price and they can sell a new legendary skin for $20 a pop and ppl eat that shit up.
Oh they'll come. Good point about not being able to see your hero though. They can also do voice packs with the skins though. They are doing a widowmaker nova skin in hots, I wonder if they'd do a nova widowmaker skin in overwatch, change the voice pack that way ppl will know they're playing with that skin they bought.I wonder how well the selling skins will go. They really need to get their art crew kicking out some better looking ones, cause nothing I saw really wow'd me.
Also, with games like Dota and League you're looking at your hero constantly. In OW, I never really see my hero other than the final splash screens, so I really don't have that urge to buy cool looking skins.
Well. Maybe the Mercy Valkyrie. But honestly, if coin drops in game I can wait it out easily cause again. Who really cares since I never see it.
Also, about this, I have to disagree. The money those things make pay for the artists/designers w/e and then some. Its not like they aren't going to put x in some game because Timmy was too busy designing skins. Its in their best interest to put the best product forward to retain current players and attract new players to buy more cosmetic shit.Which is why modern gaming is quickly turning into an ever growing pile of shit. Why focus on gameplay and content when retards are more than happy to empty their bank accounts for a skin or emote?
Not sure how sustainable it is when players learn the game, but I had a lot of luck with him on capture point maps. I could charge in first, draw everyone's attention with the lightning gun, lay down the shield and give my group time to come in to finish people off. Really, he's the tank character I had the most fun playing. He's also a good harasser since his jump refreshes so fast. You can jump in, bash on a few people to draw their attention, then jump back to your group when need be. I still really haven't learned how to use his ultimate effectively though. Unless the enemy team is grouped up close, I really was never able to wail on more than a couple people before it ran out. I guess it's a good distraction though.Winston does a few things, mostly he hunts down stupid snipers by leaping on them then chasing them with the pseudo autoaim aoe lightning gun which means they'll die guaranteed unless they run into their healers(and even then), or jump on a contested messy point, drop the shield, and lightning a bunch of people more or less randomly, which does ok damage over time. Then you ult and get fuckers off the point.
