both love making loud, ugly, garish movies whose appeal is largely targeted at adolescents.

Pan's Labyrinth, Mimic, the Hellboys? You found those loud, ugly and garish?

I'll give Blade II to you.
Hellboy, Hellboy II, Blade II, Pacific Rim,

At least Bay doesnt pretend to be anything else: "I make movies for teenage boys. Oh, dear, what a crime."

Come on bro, you know its true. Hellboy is written for adolescents, its protagonist is simplified to the point, where a 5 year old can dissect his character. There's no nuance to him. But that's not a knock against Hellboy, its a character who does what he needs to do (entertain kids) and does it decently. Much like Transformers and Michael Bay, where everything is simplified into juvenile caricatures of good vs. evil

I mean, if you dont think this is loud and garish, i dont know what to tell ya

has anyone addressed how stupid and impractical giant robots are, well, for anything?
Perhaps we should address your intelligence and practicality before we delve into the realm of fiction. So we have a firm grasp upon the boundless reaches of reality.

You'll change your tune when this turns out to be another Prometheus sequel/prequel.
by watching the trailer, i got that conventional weaponry doesnt work on the monsters, so they had to build giant robots. did i get that right?

The engineers died at the hands of monsters yet Ellen Ripley bested a Xenomorph queen using a basic robot. I win, good day sir.

So the Kaiju are really engineers? Or were they created from the black goo? Im so confused, where does Pacific Rim fit in the Prometheus-Alien-Aliens timeline?

so let me get this straight. missiles, bombs and tactical nukes are ineffective against the monsters, but a robot using a tanker as a club is?
