Brad took a MUD he liked and made a 3d game out of it. He gets credit for the game being made, but there was very little "genius" that actually came from him.

What's worse is he's regressed from that experience in terms of management. At least that's how it seems. There certainly was some luck involved as well.

Tauro- Vu was putting up some screen shots but I don't think there was ever a plan to show the different builds.

I haven't looked at any screen shots yet but I do remember alpha eq looked like shit so don't be so quick to judge on the art yet.

I think Brad is going to have a hard time delivering this game in the timeframe that is required. I do not think Shroud of the Avatar looks much better but it's here now. Brad's thinking of 2-3 years from now and if that is the case, regardless of what he can accomplish in terms of money, people, facilities, and other logistical necessities, this game will need to be rehashed and redone quite a bit.

He's hardly relevant now that he's hurt his fan base and that's the one thing he had going for him. Everyone that knew him was hoping he would fly in and save the day and now they're rattled.

If the new idea is to parade around the "way the game plays", I need some pretty rock solid ideas. To be honest, I don't want a community discussion, a vote, or polls. I want Brad to tell me what game he's going to make, here's the way its going be regardless of appearance, and that's the bottom line. Death Penalties, Dungeons, economy, everything. He has waffled so much and indicated that discussions need to take place but that's bull crap. To me that says, I'll make whatever maximizes my chances for success. I believe, the greatest technology and gaming success are from chance. People just believing in their idea and going for it.

Yea Brad put up a FRAPS video and a shit load of screen shots that repeat a lot. Check out his facebook as it's far too much to link here. I echo what others have said, should have shown what they had long ago. To the point, on the kickstarter they said over and over that they showed everything they had. Clearly a fucking lie and at some point people should get tired of being lied to.

Yes and No. Chance certainly does come into it somewhat, but there's something that Ashton Kutcher said in an awards speech last year, and while I'm not a fan of his really, it struck me as really prophetic.. He said "I believe opportunity (luck) looks a lot like hard work". I don't know if he was quoting or paraphrasing someone else, but damn.. that pretty much nails it!

I completely agree, that some of the best things in life, come from taking a chance, and jumping in with both feet. If YOU don't believe in your idea enough to commit to it, why should anyone else?

"luck is where preparation meets opportunity." is how that quote goes. not sure is ashton said it wrong or not, but it's pretty accurate for the most part. while i do believe some people are just plain lucky, i think in terms of mcquaid and everquest, it was more the former than the latter. i think he saw an opportunity to make a 3D MMO, believed there was a market for it, and went for it.

The video was horrible by today's standards. That being said, it beats......NOTHING!! They should have had this for the Kickstarter. I still would not have given a penny, but at least others might have felt like something was going on. It is like they are working backwards.

I don't even understand how people are seriously discussing that something is actually going to be made. The plug has already been pulled. Brad is milking it at this point.

The Brad-

The plan is actually not to show a movie (the one I made, or a newer, better one) to investors, unless absolutely necessary; rather, we want to visit them in person and run the better looking builds and let them play the game. I think that will be much more effective.

The movie(s) and screenshots are honestly more for all of you who donated, so you can see where your money went, and that we worked hard, and that we have something we're proud to show. Hopefully you guys agree and feel the same way.

Brad threatening legal action?

Encouraging people to violate NDAs, to pressure a team member to not return to the project, and to slander people such that 1. their project will be harder to fund and 2. it will be harder for them to get another job in the industry in general, is a bad move. This is going around. Smed emailed me the other day and said the rumor was that I took all of the crowdfunded money and gave the team nothing.

So, a warning: Slander, violation of NDAs, and supporting such activity is being reported to VR's attorney. Yeah, I'm talking to team members and message board members both.

Yeah, it's that serious.

That's funny. He has money to pay attorneys but can only dole out a small amount to team members.

I wonder if stating opinions on a forum constitutes applying pressure -- probably does in his weird little mind.
