Maybe it was just me with my shit PC, but I think performance on the whole actually got worse during beta. I started in the first wave where there would be only 10 or 20 players online at any time. Shit was a slideshow at first, but in one of the first big patches soon after I joined, optimizations made the game very playable if I turned all settings down. I played and had some fun for a time while I could. Then before one of the later beta invite waves, beta 3 or 4 or something, they made an update that made the game completely unplayable for me, far worse than it was on day 1. That was pretty much the end for me.

Same. I was invited to Alpha/Beta way back when it was under Microsoft in 2005. I think I had an AMD FX60 cpu / 7800GTX gpu at release. It always ran like shit. Definitely had to be my sound card, I guess!

I am 100% convinced qwerty is a troll at this point.

what kind of PC did you have qwerty?
A good one but not top of the line. The graphics card was top of the line (and wasn't that expensive back then), the rest was a few steps down which is always the best bang for buck. The only unusual thing I had was a raptor HD. And I skimped on ram.

He talks about smooth performance but admits bad hitching. He must have really low standards as hitchiness is a death kiss to me.
The hitching only happened occasionally and in the big busy cities which I rarely visited. Frame rate was good all other times, and I got rid of the hitching completely later when better hardware came along.

His CPU is a neural-net processor; a learning computer. Cyberdyne system.
It was just a standard dual core. Not one of the high end ones.

To be fair I can't list a single component from my computer ten years ago.

I can't even list a single component of THIS computer without opening dxdiag. I do research for like a week before buying a PC then forget all about it cause I really don't give a fuck until it's time to buy a new one.

Vanguard still ran like shit and crashed, and passing the zones was like 30secs of loading and weird desyncing and shit if you were in combat or had buffs on or whatever. And it wasn't just the cities, although the cities were worse than the rest, any place with a decent amount of players created large FPS dips. And mind you, that was when I played which was like 8months after release or some shit, AFTER multiple optimization patches that supposedly made it a lot better. It looked pretty cool though for the time and the world had a lot of cool places. And the classes were awesome, for the most part, could always be better but given what was available at the time, they were way ahead of the competition imo and some concepts like the dual targets and the multi ressources are still good idea nowadays.

Pretty sure I had an 8800 GTX and FX60 (I believe this around the time Intel began to run circles around AMD). Maybe it was the 64 X2 6000. Idk, long time ago.

I guess I didn't update my sound card drivers either.

I'd literally run into walls in the cities, and it wasn't like EQ where you could look up or down and the framerate would go back up (hello Bazaar), it just ran like pure and utter shit until you left that clusterfuck. In particular I remember a major city that was connected to a port (no idea of the name). It reminded me of Braavos honestly, but it was just a laggy piece of shit.

i hat two gtx8800 SLI ( which I had to remove SLI on just to play vanguard), 6gb ram, core 2 duo, the only thing i dont recall is my motherboard. I ran everything on high, bioshock, CoD4, Crysis, etc.

But not vanguard. I mean the graphics were just TOO GOOD.

/flush

You know a game is good when they use something like /flush. All the good games need commands like that.

This is what I remember, running Crysis on high with no issues but having system issues with Vanguard no matter the settings.

Speaking of /flush. I took a shit this morning it was giant and brown, still had more color than Vanguard. It flushed at 60 fps though. I named it qwertqwert.

I remember WAR running better than Vanguard with about a million more people playing for about a month. It was also an unoptimized PoS but I got more playtime available it's 3 months than Vanguard. It also played better almost two years later than Vanguard with the new comp. WoW says thank you to shitty developers all the time since that's exactly what I went back to.

I got accepted into the Vanguard early beta. The first time (and one of the only times) I logged in I remember instead of getting FPS, I was getting seconds per frame.

you cant fucking list one part of your computer?
I could list every component. But I am the one who asked you first what your graphics card was.

I had more or less the same, core 2 duo I think 2.4ghz which I didn't overclock back then, 8800GTX not sli, 4gb ram, and a raptor. What was your resolution?
