Server overload issues are also a completely different issue than broken and unworkable coding.

I don't think anyone could've anticipated what became of WoW.

Game so popular it exceeded any predecessor in players by a minimum of ten fold, far more than anticipated leading to server issues.

Completely comparable to a game that was unfinished and had a terrible engine that made it almost unplayable?

Bullshit. WoW was a shitshow at release and beta was even worse, but it was getting full development all that time. Vanguard never even got developed up to release. Also it was less than 50 million, it was 30 mill, and they had a game to show for it, it just wasn't completed. And I'm pretty sure he was taking some pills not snorting. Make up a more interesting story.

1) WoW was fine depending on the server you played. KZ and Malganis had it the worst. I was on Malganis. The game itself worked flawlessly from an in game perspective. From a server perspective, issues occured. They should have known McQuaid was wrong again with his "Market is capped at 430k" speech - because who knew that once someone worth a shit entered the genre we would see that market cap blown sky high. As a result, server issues became an issue for sure. Also as a result, we were given tons of free game days and weren't charged. Say that for your jackass buddy.

2) Whether it was up his nose or wherever it went, he was given 50 (Not 30, idiot) to come out with something so laughable he and his entire dev team were LAUGHED OUT OF THE OFFICE AND SHIT CANNED THE NEXT DAY. This was when Microsoft was actually a great publisher to work for as well.

3) You also had no hitching with Vanguard and the game ran perfectly on your 880 GTX. (Haha) Brad. Is that you? Relapse?

Let me give you a cliff notes. A fully functional accessible game with a great client and working in game features and functionality with server issues because of demand, is a far cry comparison to what McQuaid came out with a year after he was laughed out of the MS offices.

'
Exactly. One exceeded all standards of population levels from the very first day. Blizzard tried to fix these issues and really never had them again with future releases (even when they upgraded to 12 million subs). The other never had a large population and still had problems after the population moved on. I don't see how they can be compared at all. One was a victim of it's well made game, the other was a victim of being poorly coded.

WoW had issue because 5 million people were trying to play. Vanguard had issues with 2 people in a zone.

Lol no

Whether it was up his nose or wherever it went,
The difference is one is a painkiller, one is an illegal narcotic.

he was given 50 (Not 30, idiot)
Prove it

to come out with something so laughable he and his entire dev team were LAUGHED OUT OF THE OFFICE AND SHIT CANNED THE NEXT DAY.
There was no laughing. They all got canned because there was no money to pay them, what else are you gonna do?

This was when Microsoft was actually a great publisher to work for as well.
Clearly not or they would have seen it through to the end. Lots of people liked the game even though it was never even finished. Imagine if it had just 6 more months of development.

3) You also had no hitching with Vanguard and the game ran perfectly on your 880 GTX. (Haha) Brad. Is that you? Relapse?
8800 GTX. I had some hitching, but not much, and besides that the game ran great for me, with good frame rates. At least 2 other people in this thread said the same thing too.

Let me give you a cliff notes. A fully functional accessible game with a great client and working in game features and functionality with server issues because of demand, is a far cry comparison to what McQuaid came out with a year after he was laughed out of the MS offices.
Why compare a finished WoW to an unfinished Vanguard?

Why hasn't cad banned this faggot for multiquoting bullshit? I would take 10 Screamfeeders over QwertQwert anyday. The dude is hard line claiming bullshit and shitting up the place over and over. It would be one thing if it was any kind of debate but this American Inventor sticks his fingers in his ears and yells lalalalalala when everyone points out his is wrong. There isn't one person in your corner qwertqwert you are a failure.

Already has been across multiple port mortems. Have you forgotten those?

There was no laughing. They all got canned because there was no money to pay them, what else are you gonna do?

Wait, Microsoft ran out of money? No. What happened was a milestone marker event to show what they had, they showed what they had, were laughed at, and the project was cancelled the next day after MS realized they had been duped for the last 4 years.

Clearly not or they would have seen it through to the end. Lots of people liked the game even though it was never even finished. Imagine if it had just 6 more months of development.

Oh I can imagine alright. I would have been watching McQuaid on A&E's Intervention.

Wait I thought you couldn't remember your system specs a few pages back. Boy you sure fell for that one.

Why compare a finished WoW to an unfinished Vanguard?

Both had the same time given to them. Both had the same budget. Both had the same manpower. One went on to shatter world expectations and become a world wide phenomenon. The other ended up revealing an in office affair and ruining a marriage, and how a once prominent developer crashed his entire career while blowing over $50 million and ending up in rehab. (By the way, good job on the rehab and I hope he is staying clean. I won't joke about that, but still, that is the comparison)

Sorry Qwert :(

It's entertaining. Also, how would we be constantly reminded that Pantheon will be a failure without Qwert bumping this thread?

'Cause it'll rock? I'm fairly convinced that qwetard's on crack, at this point. I mean, just wow. Comparing WoW and Vanguard in the same breath? Going up against someone who was here during the Vanguard days (or rather, the old FoH site)? I mean, I was there but rarely posted. Saying that M$ ran out of money? Holy fuck.

For those of you who weren't around at the time. You really should go back to the origins and see the giant bag of dicks that is Pantheon: The Kickstarter. Just look at these stretch goals and tell me that Brad's a super genius, or is it more likely this was done on bath salts?

P.S. that kickstarter page you see was after dozens of edits and updates as we pleaded with this dipshit to pull it down and delay it a few weeks.

I always wanted to know, what qwertys character names were in VG. Surely a retard like him must have been known in a small community like that.

Apparently you have. I looked it up, said 30 not 50.

Wait, Microsoft ran out of money? No. What happened was a milestone marker event to show what they had, they showed what they had, were laughed at, and the project was cancelled the next day after MS realized they had been duped for the last 4 years.
That is dumb. They put 30+ million into it, and 6 months later we got a game, albeit unfinished, but far from being a completely unmade game like you pretend. There is no way MS would have not just followed it through to the end if it wasn't for what Brad said. Also they wouldn't have been duped for 4 years, clearly they saw the game at many landmarks along the way.

Oh I can imagine alright. I would have been watching McQuaid on A&E's Intervention.
Maybe. But there would have been a decent game.

Wait I thought you couldn't remember your system specs a few pages back. Boy you sure fell for that one.
I could always remember my specs, you need to read posts more carefully. I listed every almost component.

Both had the same time given to them. Both had the same budget. Both had the same manpower.
Lol no. WoW was an EQ clone with cartoon graphics, one was a much bigger game with player built and controlled ships, player housing, diplomacy, deep crafting, way more dungeons, all non instanced. And the budget was stopped before completion.

One went on to shatter world expectations and become a world wide phenomenon.
Like Justin Bieber.

No. They don't. Most people want to know what happened to their 50 million. Whether it was a pain killer or a narcotic doesn't really matter.

Apparently you have. I looked it up, said 30 not 50.

It says 30-40. I know for a fact it was $50. Initial was 35. $15 in year 3.

Also they wouldn't have been duped for 4 years, clearly they saw the game at many landmarks along the way.

No. They didn't. Only in 2005 when MS personell changes take place that they started cracking down on it's development. Of course, at the same time Brad was here talking about a magical pirate island being live in the game so you can only imagine the shit he shoveled MS before the crackdown.

Maybe. But there would have been a decent game.

6 months wasn't going to help it. Just like 15 years here in this forum hasn't helped you.

Lol no. WoW was an EQ clone with cartoon graphics, one was a much bigger game with player built and controlled ships, player housing, diplomacy, deep crafting, way more dungeons, all non instanced. And the budget was stopped before completion.

That's because with 50 million all they had was a tech demo after 4 years. Oops.

one thing is certain. Even if MS followed through with publishing vanguard it would of still been poorly developed, and it still would of lost them money, which would of still ended with VG getting sunsetted. Instead it wasnt really finished, and it lost two companies alot of money, and disrupted many creative developers lives. No amount of " If only herp derp this or that" could of saved that game.

and say what you want about justin bieber, the dude slams more clam than you or me qwerty. Id love to be justin bieber.

Wow was not an eq clone at all, it took the good concepts of eq, and added a faster gratification process that most players liked. Just not you.

Yah, which fucking people qwetard? You and .... *hears crickets chirping* Nobody. It was more like 8 months later, a time when developers were rapidly trying to get something together to shove out the door. Because they had already spent over the $30 million that M$ had given them. I've said it before that the game was programmed in like a month and that was a tad of hyperbole. I've also said before that the senior design staff at Sigil had absolutely zero fucking clue what they were doing. I've said before that they would come in and tell the staff what they just did was wrong, to delete all their code and start over.

Or did you miss all of that because I somehow hurt your fucking feelings qwetard?

Do you honestly want me to go through and find where you said that you couldn't remember all the times you said that you didn't remember shit?

WoW was as much as an EQ clone as Pong was an RPG.
