OK.

How does that fit into a game that's trying to be the spiritual successor to EQ/Vanguard?

This game is marketing itself to a 20 year old fanbase that wants 20 year old mechanics.

Pantheon isn't the type of game where Rallos Zek ignores your warriors, kills all your clerics, and then laughs when rangers try to heal as he wipes your raid mercilessly.

Mario and Zelda still use decades old mechanics. If it ain't broke...

factor? I think AI is going to be the greatest advancement in human history and also one of the scarriest for the questions it going to make us ask ourselves.
Nope.

"AI" reminds me of all the stupid alarmist futurist inventions that were going to happen in the 90's that would change the world and never materialized. It has buzzword wall street and VC bubble written all over it.

Except we have self driving cars and computer vision now. Is that a bubble?

No, we do not have self-driving cars yet. Yes, the technology is there and people are testing it. However, it will still be sometime before these hit the streets due to a wealth of other factors outside of just designing it. Imagine the first time a self-driving car is involved in an accident. How will law enforcement handle it? How will insurance companies respond to it? I'm sure these issues will be vetted out before they become mainstream but that could take years.

Which brings us back to the original question - why all of the futuristic ideas and innovation never sees the light of day when engineers promote them as being possible. Designing in a vacuum is one thing. Implementation and mainstream adoption in the real world is another matter entirely.

There have been incidents involving self-driving cars running people over. Tesla is the most expensive vehicle to insure these days.

If you are trying to make anything in the tech industry these days that does not have machine learning or AI in the plan then you will not get funding. It doesn't matter if there is no purpose or it has no use, they just want to be able to sell it as such. That screams bubble to me.

Deep learning outpaced traditional machine learning algorithms at scale. You can use these deep neural networks to improve services that have large amounts of data.

So typically large enterprise, research, and data analysis is most impacted by it right this moment.

Disregarding advances in self driving cars is laughable, but whatever

It's like you didn't read my post.

Pantheon isn't the type of game for Deep AI and smart mob mechanics.

That trash belongs elsewhere.

Rolling my eyes at you. Go bring me back 5 snake skins to continue

I don't view self driving cars as "AI". They are just better versions of a Roomba.

NPC caravans based on player movement.

NPCs can switch up strats based on player count and player ability realtime.

There are tons of new features that people simply haven't had the ability to do in ML because of Tensorflow.

AI is what takes the Lidar scans and makes decisions based on what it sees.

How Artificial Intelligence Is Key for Autonomous Vehicle Development
Elon Musk still doesn’t think LIDAR is necessary for fully driverless cars

The only one on the road doesn't even use it.

This is why Tesla is banking on cameras as the key hardware component in the long term to autonomous vehicle development. With their ever-increasing pixel resolution and the low-price point, camera sensors are seen as indispensable for advanced driver assistance systems (like Tesla’s Autopilot)

Key words are "advanced driver assistance". Not AI.

So where does Brad fall in this AI debate? Will Pantheon NPC's be able to learn to fall and bust ass? If so we got work to do.

The natural extension to this discussion. Even has some specific Pantheon music included.

Is there a place where I can get a crash course on what this game is? At first I thought it was a scam but apparently it's a game?
