Are you really going to make me do my AI rant? sigh. Ok the short version.

Even the best 'deep learning' programs are still just brute forcing it. Mostly it's just a more refined recursive list ranking system and bayesian inference models. Bayesian models are useful but they literally provide zero insight or understanding into 'strong' AI. That's how the Google translation programs work, they can sort of match which sentences in one language is equivalent to one in another language - but they don't understand language (which is why the translations are almost never grammatically correct).

Until someone comes along and formulates the underlying principles for general intelligence, like Newton with physics or Darwin with biology, we're stuck using raw processing power.

I love AI but Know very little of it from a technical perspective, but wouldn't advancements in quantum computing adress this? If you could run countless probability scenarios all at the exact same time, wouldn't brute force at that point become a none factor? I think AI is going to be the greatest advancement in human history and also one of the scarriest for the questions it going to make us ask ourselves.

It's funny there is so little worth wild information from this game to talk about we are instead talking about future skynet robo AI. The only question is can you fuck it?

Quantum computing isn't infinitely powerful.

It's more powerful than the technology we currently have, but it doesn't immediately solve the computing problem.

No. Even extreme processing power won't give you insight into what the fundamental principles are. It's the program, not the processing power, that does the 'learning'. You could have all the processing power in the world and still have the wrong program.

All the 'deep learning' programs are just very complex recursive functions that can rank the results and continue to reiterate on it's own. To put it simply, it's a fancier version of trying all possible combinations and seeing what works. That's the only thing the AI researches can do, so it's not a criticism - and there has been a lot of progress with these models. But it's not progress towards strong AI, it's still all weak AI.

What that means in the real world is we will have very good medical diagnostics, usable self-driving cars, and all sorts of other things in the near future. But true general intelligence is still a long long way off.

Yeah quantum computing is still way way way in its infancy. However (just like AI) its gaining speed and momentum.

According to Ex Machina, absolutely.

Btw, our forum change way too many time in the last 2 yrs or so.

It's even funnier that you think the phrase is "worth wild"....

There is a major computer evolution going on right now where we are teaching computers how to learn and how to see.
I hope everybody remembers a year ago:

Lol ya in 5 years AI in Unity won't be mobs with pathing behavior but entities driven by genetic algorithms.

Wewwww.

Can't wait for the RELEASE of Bradquest 3.0. Rare spawns with rare drops!

Its all about the models. cool post.
