When it has pvp, they should devote no resources to it. Just turn it on and keep developing pve. So many pve games get fucking ruined trying to balance for pvp. Spells that are really only useful for pvp, fine, people just won’t use them in pve. But changing damage, function, etc for pve abilities is a mistake.
This is the way. Lack of balance is fun. Just develop the PvE game and let PvP servers be exactly that with PvP turned on. Only step in for absolutely game breaking issues. Less is more.

It was pretty obvious you two are bros, lol. He dropped everything he was doing to figure out if that was you or not. Just mid conversation and dropped it like a rock "why am I answering the same question for the 500th time, where convo?!"

Also, want some feedback? Schematics in their current implementation are straight awful. Make them plentiful, too plentiful, and put rare components that drop from dungeons or something in the recipe. Theyre so rare now that most people just put them in their own characters vault even though they will never, ever, use that trade. Just awful.

Balancing PVP in a game like this is a mistake imo. Let the wolves play the fotm wolf classes. Everyone else that will actually stick around is going to be focused on the guild vs guild territory control aspect and overall finding good fights. If the PVE is well balanced the PVP will fall in line fine IMO
Well its the same thing with a parser. Theres a parser thats floating around that honestly, I'd love to have it just to to figure out certain shit instead of theorizing about it. As a Cleric, it really feels like Tanks in general take roughly the same damage whether the mob is roughly even con, or the mob is orangish. Healing through that doesnt seem to be the issue, honestly. What the issue becomes when fighting deep oranges is that the DPS is resisting and whiffing so much that the fight drags out and it kills my mana instead. Instead of just thinking this, I'd like to see if its an accurate assessment without having to sort through the log just to see how much theyre hit for, if its a significant amount of difference, fight length, etc. etc.

Never mind the odd ball caster that is using all his instants or focus properly and his mana is barely touched. Can I tell that he's doing something at first glance? No. Is he afk? Idk. Is he putting out the maximum amount of damage? idk.

If there is one in the game, like Joppa said there was - maybe enable it for the player only or something like that would be nice. Instead of having to get a 3rd party parser, and then wonder if its ransomware, or worse yet - Joppa's crew decide its against terms of service. On the flip side of this issue is that.. I really dont care about having a parser to dick measure. I just want to see what my own class is, and if the tank can export that data file and send it to me - or even just tell me what the numbers are in it - that would be spectacular.

re: the graphics, everything looks good enough in the game's current state except character models and animations. I've heard they are temp placeholder assets. Hoping that's true.

Adding maps seems like such an easy thing to do. Dumb not to have them.
On the flip side I am literally reawakening my EQ pathfinding skills. I can navigate most of TF and AVP on sight now, because my SMN has been soloing all over the fucking place.

Yeah I actually have a mental model of where things are in a way I absolutely do not for other games. No map builds character or some shit.

A friend asked me what this was since he saw me playing it on Discord and did not understand the appeal from looking at the game page. I think if you weren't an EQ type person the marketing is gonna be rough.

Did my first grouping today. Did an hour or two on warrior and DL at skele camp. Between the two DL sustain is much better with on demand shields and lifetap. Warrior has better taunting (not single target lock though) better mobility, and maybe better damage? Not sure on that.

DL passive mitigation feels worse even before the difference in armor, but active stuff more than makes up for it. Overall my expert sub level 10 tanking opinion is that Paladin is probably superior to both. DL kinda feels like a caster with auto attack, and warrior charge feels awesome

DL is imo way better than warrior except for some of the banner/group buff stuff. I havent played one myself and theres loads of inepts.... but warrior I THINK could use a boost 1-20 so far.

Yes DL feels way stronger, but I don't love the playstyle so far personally

Parser was developed by Wilderness, one of the Faceless guys. I think it was leaked outside unless he shared it personally. It’s legit and works. Devs have surely seen it and haven’t said anything. Requires wireshark to work iirc.

Gotta make that happen with necro mastery, it would be a huge people pleaser. Same as mastery on the summoner earth pet making it a viable tank (reduce the owners damage while its out for balance?). The pop is hard up for tanks on both servers I played.

Also speaking of masteries it needs to come from a mentoring system or getting a bit for each named/rare like the first time u kill a mob in eq2. Gaining them alongside xp doesnt feel like a fun mastery or side system.


Edit: Oh!! And call of the hero for summoners instead of summon corpse.

Coth completely ends the crawl aspect and just lets you park at a camp and just trivialise any difficulty in rotating or moving. In original eq it came in after vanilla and at the tail end of the level curve, and on a class that at the time was considered quite stupid to be grouping in dungeons where your pet pathing bad was a huge liability versus soloing which was quite fine in eq then and mages were especially fine at. This made it mostly a one off request or a raid tool, until much later.

Putting coth in during the emerging portion of the game, not post live in an expac, and having it be available during the leveling phase? What a way to completely ruin the whole seeming purpose of trying to push groups and social cooperation. People asking for maps to better navigate aren't even in the same ballpark as asking for an instant group member content skip spell.

Corpse summoning is generally the opposite. It mitigates the worst of the risk factors of death and so makes people less timid about trying something dangerous. You want death penalties to add challenge and force serious gameplay but not create a passive safe only atmosphere (eg everyone leveling in loio/ot/dl/bw pulling field trash), so corpse summoning helps allow the masses feel comfortable doing dungeons while keeping the short term risks but having an escape from the more permanent danger.

So, throwing in corpse summon early is good, throwing in coth would be bad.
