I switched over to the Black Moon server. It has like 5 shards, which makes shard-hopping for groups or finding an unpopulated area for harvesting way easier.

I sneezed, missed an interrupt, entire group got wiped.

Chevron system is ass, and not a fun mechanic.
I enjoy the whole interrupt thing but it is super anathema to the spirit of EQ that they were originally pursuing. How are you supposed to have that group chat feel like OG EQ when missing a 2 second interrupt window on a group mob you grind for 40 hours causes a wipe?

A lot of oldschool EQ boomers (the demographic they appealed to the most ) will have a big issue with it. Anyone who missed lines on Performer or OMM Mask clicks in Anguish can’t be trusted for deep dungeon shit in Pantheon atm.

I think they’ll tone it down a lot by launch as complaints roll in.

And here I was hoping we were in the Elden Ring "git gud" era
Do you want Elden Ring or classic EQ? They're not compatible.

Aren't there parts of WoW that have git gud elements (or at least, more than anything EQ ever offered) and you hate WoW?

Doesn't feel out of place

This is all Brads plan

The UI is holding back the visibility of them. That cast bar is absolute shit tier in readability. The other part is particle effects need to be able to just be completely turned off if I want them off.

All those abilities should have their animations redone to have an exaggerated build up, too. Or, if thats too much... I've seen another game where it had color coded exclamation marks pop up above the enemies head with how severe they were. Like it was 3 little exclamation marks that would pop up on the corner of the mob's head, when it started to cast. So if your eyes arent fixated on the UI's low readability cast bar, you would see it pop up on the mob itself. Some of us are playing on big TV's, wide screens, etc. My eyes are having to cover a lot of real estate, so any small readability enhancements like that would be a welcomed change.

But yes, they do need a round of nerfs/changes. Waylay needs a longer cast time by 2-3 seconds. Ravage needs a ramping damage. (Instead of a constant flat damage, the channel starts at 10% of its actual damage, and the last charge of the channel is at 190%.) Suicidal Stinger's damage should be based off your characters missing HP. Low HP - you're dead, basically.

As long as the group wiping interrupts are few and far between I think it would be fine.

Every interruptible ability cannot be one that completely fucks you if you miss it though.

Is there a reason for the 2 target windows? I know one is friendly and one is foe. I have only played a rogue so far, Im assuming it helps healers? Otherwise is an annoying mechanic.

Defensive targeting is awesome. Not just for heals but assisting the main tank as well.

As a tank player, especially on the DL, I really enjoy the high skill demand of being able to 1) pay attention, and 2) shield yourself in the two seconds a spell/waylay ability is going off. I hope they don't tune that down. They've already dumbed down the difficulty of the game massively since Pre-Alpha because of all the whiners on the forums/discord. I don't want an action combat MMO and I don't want Dark Souls difficulty, but I want something much more dangerous and engaging then EQ1 tank play. This game had that in spades, and now it has a little bit left after all the complaining.

Ok I know I’m lazy. I’m sorry. How is necromancer solo? Fear / dot kiting feasible? I may jump on the bandwagon but old dad here can’t always join groups. Be great if solo is an option even if slow between groups if I pull the trigger. Druids too I suppose.

One of the best solo and currently solo exp is as fast or faster than grouping

I wasn't there, what did they tone down to make easier?

Human reaction time is on average (and average is, sadly, retarded) .25s

These abilities to interrupt are 3s

That means you have at least 2.5 Mississippis of durrrrrrrrp to push a button your finger should already be on

Please don't water this game down 🙏

We'll really just have to see how Mastery is implemented. Where they end up leaving itemization. Where they leave the balance of classes. Etc. Ever since I started playing, I've seen all of those things change except for Mastery points. You probably have to. But putting a bit more imagination into those big abilities would lessen the tedium of them without removing their danger or focus. That is, if in fact, they plan on keeping them the same way all the way to whenever theyre happy with the game anyways.

But lets not beat around the bush, most groups Ive been in so far.. Just the Healer and the Tank are actually paying attention. Ravage, the Tank just ends up side stepping instead of interrupting, anyways. Not the pinnacle of "difficult" content there, pal.
