No risk, no reward. I think a lot of us would agree this KS had a better chance if more Dev time was spent on the project. At least I do, after following all this.bulletball.

You're comparing apples to being obtuse.Thats funny when this entire thread is a circle jerk of "get us out off the rails" or "just give us a world and well make our own stories" and "we dont need out hands held" and all that... But then you come in with this bullshit. Forcing people into an old archaic model because, people are stupid. Yeah.
Not true. Its akin to saying EQN's graphical style being based around SOEMote is putting the cart before the horse. I have no idea what SOEmote in EQN will actually be able to do, nor do I know how many people will fully utilize it, but what I do know is their Pixar art style sucks (imho). So rendering the entire everyone can be anything discussion a moot point as well.
Anyways have fun dreaming about Brad and your REAL EQ next.... LOL.
Im beginning to thing this had nothing to do with it. I think the entire premise was flawed since the beginning because Brad McQuaid and Vanguard. Its as simple as that. For some reason that just sticks in everyone's minds and people dont forget. No risk, no reward. I think a lot of us would agree this KS had a better chance if more Dev time was spent on the project. They did... it was called Plane of Fear. You do know they could have made it that all the mobs agro when you hit their king.. .
Uh, no. They just had nothing to encourage donations despite "working" on the project since September.Im beginning to thing this had nothing to do with it. Youre only as good as your last MMO.
I've said it before and I think it remains true. Thoush I'm sure Brad's rep had something to do with it, I think lack of interest is the main thing. If someone came out with a kickass and challenging MMO, I think it could be very successful. I don't think, however, that enough people give a shit to donate money to a "maybe".Im beginning to thing this had nothing to do with it. Agreed. We CAN make statements about people, though. People will be playing EQN (people being a loose definition). People will fuck up whatever ingenious thing they think they've created. Combat mechanics and AI and environmental elements aren't holding back the genre, people are, and I don't see people changing anytime soon.Etchazz... You're more intelligent than this man...
EQ:N has totally different AI tech and environmental factors than GW2 that we have never seen before. You simply can't make these statements until we have more information.
You sound absurd.
Have you played Landmark yet man? The shit is spectacular looking, and really conveys that 'fantasy world' feeling. Not true. So, what's their grand solution? The King yells for help, all the mobs come, your group gets raped.Yeah they are archaic. Its stupid to have mobs just stand around today like they did back in 1999 while you beat up on their king in the next room.
That didn't even happen in 1999.Yeah they are archaic. Its stupid to have mobs just stand around today like they did back in 1999 while you beat up on their king in the next room.
They made a good call.
But, but, but, Darkfall just didn't do it right and didn't have the right AI. EQN is going to be the goose that shits the golden turd that changes the genre!Speaking of Darkfall, besides being a shit yet fun game, there is an example of a title in which everyone could be everyone could be everything and upon their rebooting of the title implemented classes and roles due to popular demand, game balance, and necessity.
/bashes head into keyboard.That didn't even happen in 1999.

For one there isnt just mobs standing around waiting for you to come and camp them for your new shiny. Maybe because you killed the king they come looking for you? Or they build a little outpost by your town and try to take over your town. Who the fuck knows, think outside your little 1999 EQ box.So, what's their grand solution? The King yells for help, all the mobs come, your group gets raped.
Maybe you're right and the environment will come into play. Like your group will have to spend an hour Landmark-crafting a brick wall up at the doorway and the bard can paint it to look like an open door and then sneak back around to the group and then when the mobs run to protect their king they'll bonk their heads and get knocked out.
Exactly. And what we do know is for SOEemote to be noticeable, it means characters look like they've got lips swollen with collagen injections, giant alien eyes, and eyebrows on springs. Not true. Personally, I just don't have much interest in funding Brad's office space, and I'm not really sure why we as a gaming community have become ok with that (I should say some, not all). I can't imagine I'm alone in that regard. I'll gladly pay for the game and a subscription if the game is good.I've said it before and I think it remains true. I agree and you are definitely not alone. That much is pretty evident on this forum, at least.Personally, I just don't have much interest in funding Brad's office space, and I'm not really sure why we as a gaming community have become ok with that (I should say some, not all).
