Apparently the official site went down, and now it's back up... and people are "Subbed n ready to go!" and "Woot! Excited about the 15/month option. Finally something worthwhile to subscribe to again."

I keep seeing discussions by people who can't afford to donate for actual rewards being thankful they can afford a sub to the forums.

Let's do this subscription. I'm ready to subscribe to a real mmo again. 15/month campaign to get the game we want. I'm going to do this and others will follow. What else is there to subscribe to? WoW? EQ live? No thank you!
Brad is a genius.

....95% of the time I'm gaming alone. Not fun for me, so I stick to online social games.
Does. Not. Compute, because my problem is I spend 95% of my time gaming alone even trying to enjoy MMOs. So figure I may as well just play single player games until something more lasting or worthwhile comes out. And I tried to get into FF:ARR since my Vanguard guild was playing it, but ugh, couldn't. Same with GW2, was a fun single player game for me, basically, but I'm to the point I figure if I'm going to be playing alone with friends to chat, I can chat while playing a single player game. Single player games are interchangeable with my reading, though, and it's not like I've ever stopped reading and decided I'd only attend the theater. I'll like an old lady, I enjoy my stories!

ah see I'm always either rolling with my brother or whatever clan I'm in at the time.

Interesting responses from Brad on thatmmo-champion thread:

But now I know how hard I can push myself, how involved or in love with a project I can safely become. I know more about managing larger teams and setting up middle management properly. I think I was a decent CEO and now I think I could be a good CEO.

I've certainly seen the posts where people have urged me not to take a CEO role with Visionary Realms. They look at what happened with Vanguard and the mistakes made and that's their opinion. I certainly respect their opinion, but I don't think it's taking everything into consideration that should be. Like I said, I know myself so much better now and can look back at my mistakes and be determined not to repeat them. I like taking the negatives that happened with Vanguard and turning them into positives by doing a better job this next time around. If I don't, then I'm simply a defeated ex-CEO. And I don't want to leave it at that. I want another shot at it.
For Brad's sanity I hope he pulls a few miracles out of his ass.

Wait, later in his response:
I mainly bring it up because it, combined with what went down with Vanguard and Sigil, makes for a more complete picture of what I've accomplished in life and what kind of experience I have. I am qualified to be the CEO of a games development studio.

Now, all that said, you'll notice that I refer to my position at Visionary Realms as CCO (Chief Creative Officer). I do this for two reasons:

1. I prefer the creative side of things, even though I can do the business stuff.

2. I am still searching for the right person to take the CEO position at VR. I can do it, but I'd rather be able to focus more on the creative.
So, I guess he's not going to give being CEO another shot.

I tried with Skyrim... I really did. I just don't find single player games very rewarding any more. It was one thing when I was young and my buddies would come over and we'd play FF7 and shoot the shit... But now I'm in my 30s and 95% of the time I'm gaming alone. Not fun for me, so I stick to online social games. It's just a shame single player games are always so much more polished.
Try skyrim again with civil war overhaul from nexus, its really an amazing gamechanging mod.

More like he's acknowledging that people are wary about him being CEO, taking another meaningless job title to alleviate those fears and "searching" for a CEO while filling the position himself.

So obviously I haven't been following this as closely now, slurping up every tasty nugget of info, but Ben posted this on the KS comments and I'm wondering, wth does this mean:

I was about to post that beta 2 on the new site is now open and anyone can sign up to begin testing. But it seems you've all figured that out already!
The new server is up and running and the back-end code is near-optimized. I'd tell you the details but I'm very limited on my tech knowledge. Let's just say Tom's been hard at work, and is confident the new infrastructure will be able to take the load.
So, yup, please feel free to sign up and thank you in advance for your bug reports and suggestions.

They're letting people log into a demo of the game?

...it's not even an MMO, is it? I haven't enjoyed a single player RPG since the fucking 90s.
Of a like mind on this also, and it sucks , I used to love everything from Betrayal at Krondor in DOS days to Baldur's Gate 2 I think was the last single player rpg I really enjoyed. MMO's ruined it for me. Even when soloing it just seems more fun to see other folks running around the same virtual world.

Best of you to you really. My mother's going on a year of recovery from emergency colon surgery due to cancer (she didn't go to the Dr until it was literally hours away from being too late and had massive emergency surgery due to cancer spreading), and she's doing the chemo thing round 2 after radiation originally. Sounds like you caught it far before she did and have a good outcome ahead of you. I know it won't be any fun at all but glad you caught your before it got to stage 4 like hers.

testing their pay to view forums
Champion forums I remind you , you pay and get to be a Champion.

So we all going to be here next Sat around 1pm cst to watch the KS tick down and see if Brad commits fraud blatantly at 1:30 or will it already have been done by then ?

Sounds ludicrous , but with the decisions made so far , it will not shock me to see a 200-300k "spike" the last day come from an "angel investor" instead of at least trying to spread it out over the next week.
