Only way I back fund games is if I get a cut, and then I would invest heavily and take a gamble. This whole donate now to possibly play a game in the future which still may or may not suck is for the birds and the ultimate in Developer/Business entitlement in which the consumer sees nothing on their investment in this particular matter. If the game doesn't get made? So be it. If they want to make it bad enough, they will come up with a way to make it happen. Low financial risk doesn't make good games. As in any business, knowing you may fail and fail hard (With your own money) is what will put the fire under one's ass to get it done, done correctly, and come out with a fun product/game.

Meh. Rarity does matter but it is being overstated. And I'm not being an ass about anything, people just want to rage against me being right. Also I don't really care about replacing stuff in VP, that is fair enough. I just hated replacing Hate/Fear gear from Karnor, Chardok and Seb crap.

But if everything can be easily replaced, then why go through the hassle of raiding and spending hours trying to get upgrades for each slot? May as well just forget about it and get better shit in the next expansion from an Orc. The point is that you should try to balance this stuff out so new content doesn't just instantly kill older stuff dead.

EQ did an amazing job at slowly scaling itemization up till late raids in Velious. That was why for like what, 4 expansions into EQ, people still leveled in classic content and progressed largely with old world gear. It wasn't perfect, and they definitely could of toned back raid item power in velious and thereafter, but what they managed to achieve by accident with EQ has yet to be replicated in any mmos since. That being keeping older content relevant and keeping the process of gearing up meaningful.

But it WAS instantly obsolete, my first day I got a bunch of stuff that was better than the gear I raided long and hard for. Raid gear... Replaced by trash drops on day one. That isn't right. The point you dumb fucks fail to understand is that new content should not destroy old content. It is something EQ did a terrible job with, that is why there are now 105 levels and 95 of them you have to do with AI controlled mercs because there are no players and empty zones. They mass produced expansions and you either bought it and got phat upgrades left and right, or you didn't and played in an empty obsolete world. All the old world was empty as soon as Kunark hit. There was zero horizontal progression, and there was zero care for previous content when they made new content. It made raiding and gear seem like a stupid waste of time, because it was only going to be worthless 6 months to a year later, and it made massive parts of the world empty and pointless too. Go to Oasis or Highpass or whatever pre-kunark and there were 30 people in each zone. Go there after Kunark and they never reached more than about 3 people. You idiots might not see the glaring problem with that, but for everyone who heard about EQ a year after release and started anything other than an Iksar, were starting in an empty game.

Outright fucking lie. You never played live. Obviously. A lot of the Kunark dungeons were extremely remote. If you were targetting them with your guild for specific items. Sure you'd get to them. Most players DID NOT PLAY THAT WAY. Oasis and HH/HH Keep were constantly packed in the lower levels. The Lake of Ill Omen route for leveling wasn't the only route and most didn't min/max that way either.

And it only got worse with each expansion too. The only thing that was ever done well, was the epic weapon quests which at least used parts of the old world, so even when 100% of people were in Kunark, there were occasionally raids and groups put together to go and do Fear and Hate to get epic items. But that is how it should have been anyway.

Tons of lower tier guilds cleared hate/fear for upgrades. Up through Velious as the uberguilds controlled the most up to date content.

No you never played. That sounds more like p99 although even that would be wrong. Most people were tired of classic by the time Kunark came along, so EVERYONE went to see the new expansion. Old world had tumbleweeds. You can't make up a fake history to suit your dumb non-arguments. Highkeep especially was empty. Oasis went from having 30+ people all the time to having about 3 but mostly 0. Lower Guk was peaking at something like 70+ people before Kunark and was completely empty after release. I know because I used to solo the AM in there at level 51 and the zone was empty. Only people I ever saw were occasional monks coming for the raster.

There weren't lots of lower tier guilds at all. There weren't even that many guilds on the whole server because it required more people than casuals had. There were a few high end guilds, and a few casuals, and that's it. And they were all snooping around Kunark because it was new and better.
