Your complete hatred of WoW blinds you to all the great things they did Dumar.
Disregard everything dumar says. He's the worst kind of dipshit. He goes to blizzcon and has every single wow expansion. Probably eats tons of tuna and brushes with garlic.

Rofl.

Brad & co would be well served to pay just enough attention to not make it obvious that they're ignoring all the suggestions they get from places like this thread.
Well

1. It's a kickstarter, so they have to make something people are going to fund. Right? So it certainly helps them get an idea what the biggest MMO whiners on the net (this site) are thinking.

2. Additionally, the backlash to the likely fact that Salim Grant is in the team means that they'll have to make up some soon to be lost goodwill, one way to do that is to keep on doing something Salim never did; viz. engage in constructive communication with the potential playerbase.

As usual your posts are as helpful as a blind man guiding a tour group at night at the Grand Canyon. It's pretty fucking amazing you know how to type, well unless I'm wrong and you're not typing and instead had your Mom install Dragon Dictate on your computer.

But if I had, you wouldn't have the opportunity to reply in such a smug, snarky way. I couldn't deprive you of that.

You're welcome

I would have loved to not post such a snarky reply. You made it a necessity plus a few others.

Hunter was a very unique class like Creed said. So was druid, druid shape shifting was incredibly unique and cool. As was shaman with the totem mechanics. Paladin too with the different blessings and cooldowns and auras, it was a far more unique class than the mix of a shitty warrior + a shitty cleric that EQ offered.

Rogue was also a huge evolution from EQ, you lost some of the non combat utility because there was no corpse dragging but WoWs stealth with distract and sap etc was pretty cool.

Most of the classes in classic had truely unique playstyles in fact. The homogenization really came as they pushed the raid sizes down after TBC and really embraced the move from a medium paced game to a very fast paced game.

Being blind to the good things they did is bad, they developed some truly great classes and anyone who thinks most classes were homogenized or played remotely similar to each other in classic or TBC is retarded.
I don't disagree with much of this. I didn't intend to go into specifics regarding the (de-)evolution of WoW design from vanilla onward. The turning point was when they used talents as a engine to disperse roles among the classes. My point was simply to not homogenize the classes as WoW ended up doing. Give classes unique roles by providing them unique abilities that affect the world in a different mechanical way. Don't window dress the same abilities as WoW does now.

Goes to Blizzcon (for free).
Abe F is a moron, true, but dude, I don't get this either. Why? Though I guess I'm the Kettle in this situation since I have bitched about Smedley for years but did go to SOE Live last year (to my regret).

I said before I actually thought they were back on track with early Cataclysm difficulty. Calling it simple 'hatred' is dishonest. They sold out, but they showed signs of life in some of their decisions, but those decisions never stayed consistent by caving to casualness every single time. Haven't been subbed in about a year and a half.

I've got close friends in the industry, and Blizzcon is more than WoW: it's hanging out with them (plus the free).

You got to see the sand being played in first hand, well worth it.

The vanilla WoW remarks brings me to something else though I hope Brad takes into account.

If the game is lucky enough to fund ,launch, and be around enough for expansion/content additions etc, never destroy the original game. Be it a mechanic (taking out corpse runs after launching with them ) or redoing the complete talent system of classes to resemble nothing like the launch version. Everyone points out the harsh and immediate (and stupid) NGE SOE did with SWG , but almost every game out there that has lasted a few years gets NGE'd , just piece by piece.

Expand and add all you want , just don't delete the original game in the process.

No leashing please. If it's in, make it mob-dependent or very limited.
I don't like leashing either.. I'd like it to vary based on a job like Creed said, or something as simple as stamina. Some mobs will have more and chase farther and others will have less.
In the suggestion document, I included that they should use an intelligent leashing system. What I mean is, some mobs will leash differently than others based on what type of mob or the mob's intelligence. A mindless skeleton may chase you and never leash and never run away when almost dead, but a intelligent humanoid may give up and leash back and will try to run if low on life.

I say, program enemies to behave differently than one another to add some flavor!

wait, sillius is on the team? ugh
Gogojira thinks so and he's may be right based on the Domain Registration and the fact there's some article somewhere that says Silius is no longer with SOE (though I pointed out Salim's linkedin still says SOE for what little that's worth).
