February is the agreed upon best time to launch so far according to my reading. I disagree with the wisdom behind releasing info before the KS launch. You want those initial articles linking to the kickstarter, and then those new customers having a 'purchase moment' right when they discover it.

Exactly. There are plenty of ex EQ people who don't know about this. When they hit the KS and read up to realize this is a game that really interest them, they'll impulse donate.

Tax Returns will starting rolling out in a few weeks so he has a chance to coax some people into giving up a little bit of cash to his cause if he can be convincing enough. I don't think this will come down to big contributions rather than getting enough exposure to where a lot of people chip in. Who knows, people are pretty giving when comes to small, manageable sums of money. I'm anxious to see the general first impression of the MMO community.
i hear ikik is working on the project as well. ikik+ceythos+aradune might be enough to keep my distaste for sillius in check.

Think he is referring more to "ex-VG folks" not being very appealing. I have to admit I hope when they launch KS they don't open with "From the guys that brought you Vanguard", because I'm pretty sure that ends with quite a few folks going "aaaaand no thank you!".

Yea. A brief outline of experience/projects will be good for me. I'm guilty of not knowing a lot if names so it won't mean a whole lot to me unless they have a bad rap.. I just want to hear about the game and how they plan to go about building it with the tools they have available to them..Think he is referring more to "ex-VG folks" not being very appealing. My hope is that they don't just try and drop as many Everquest references as they can hoping that will be enough to get them a 7 digit payday. I want to actually see something with potential and not just them trying to appeal to peoples EQ nostalgia for money.
i can't remember when ikik joined the vg team, tad would probably know better but he had some pretty good raid mob designs. ceythos was a former gm who got a shot at being a vg dev when soe decided to throw vg a few morsels by adding city of brass. it wasn't the most mind blowing content i've seen for vg, but for what he had to work with i think it was ok.
i can see how a lot of people would get nervous to hear that a lot of vg guys are working with brad. just have hope that brad learned his lesson and doesn't let us down again!

It all depends on the info that comes out. Right now there's a huge derth of good MMOs and the current MMO on the forefront (TESO) is an expensive disaster waiting to happen. People in general are pretty tired of the WoW clones that have come out. In general the gaming scene is pretty ripe for a good MMO.
That being said it's all up to the information in the kickstarter and marketing to see it get funded. Once information comes out I expect many people on here will be pretty disappointed because it doesn't match what we want but that's a baseless prediction.

as far as giving money goes, i'll have to wait and see. the money itself isn't an issue with me, it's just i don't want to toss money out the window either.

I'm not worried about us looking past the Sigil stuff (we are knowledgeable enough about the situation to know there were a lot of factors at play).. and I'm sure brad & co. won't strongly advertise the fact that many of the team worked on vanguard...
