Despite the rocky start with promotion during the early days of the campaign, they have really stepped it up. I just don't know what more they can do at this point.

Everyone who was gonna know about this now knows about it... Maybe demand isn't what we all thought after all. We'll see February 22nd.

No matter what , they need to work from Brad's basement or cheapo rent by the hour crappy office and folding tables.

You all really think this crew gets it done, both management and timeline wise , working out of their cozy little houses and have a Skype call to chat each day ?

Fuck no, they need to be in some office (cheap one) with an actual manager who has actual demands and oversight constantly.

Otherwise this shit never gets made even if funded.

Its sad, but im starting to feel the same way. The demand just isnt there. I dont know if they focused too much on the "old school EQ" which gives pretty much everyone visions of camping, hours of downtime, and kick you in the nuts gameplay, or its the Brad McQuaid Vanguard fiasco... who knows? We are only a tiny subset of the mmo community here with our extremist views.

I think he may have a bigger audience if he was aiming more for the vanilla WoW crowd (which includes a lot of EQ vets) then simply the P1999 crowd.

I still firmly believe it's not a demand issue but more a KS issue. Yes it's a niche audience but a much larger one than 2k.

First there are people who don't believe in supporting a KS to begin with. Then there are those who want more than paragraphs and hastily thrown together shit before funding a KS. This KS has gotten much better , but like or not , most folks have something tangible to see on every other gaming KS.

There is more of a demand than 2500 folks. Just lots of folks are not going to fund it ahead of time , and lots more want to see something more tangible and professional before funding.

There is definitely an audience for this... but I wonder how many people stopped by the early kickstarter and didn't see anything impressive? The kickstarter now, and the interviews have all been higher quality. Where else do you go to get the word out?

Ya I get it dahkoht... But still... $25 for the game + beta? That's a week's worth of fucking Starbuck's FFS... People are super cheap.

I dont agree about the kickstarter thing, really Dahk You have other cases where this isnt true. People throw money at certain things there that are nothing more than ideas, it just happens that this was not one of them.

This was a trainwreck from the get go , they were out of jobs and lazy or no one wants to hire them. So someone mentions kickstarter and how they can have a free paycheck by pitching a game to old EQ players with zero idea of what the actual game will finally be just that it will use the backers feedback to make said game all the while have zero fucking to show at the start up. Call me insensitive to the situation , but fuck you if im gonna toss money at you...show me some REAL effort that you actually want to make this MIRACLE game that will bring back the people that trailblazed EQ , cause if you all dont remember that group was fucking small as hell per server. It also lost a lot of these people after Velious/Sol/PoP. Those that stayed will continue to stay and will not fund this , those that moved on will not fund this either. Those that bounced from MMO to MMO looking for a replacement still want a good MMO i.e. me and the majority on this board, are a small minority in what is now a very large gaming community. That is full of all kinds of people and we all know how that community is from WoW to LoL , people dont like hard to master games.

I would love to see this type of game get made , but this will be another Vanguard....false promises and inexperienced people working on it. No thanks , just need to suck it up and play the shit that is being shoveled out and hope for a gem or 2 that i can enjoy and continue to live my life of not having that old flame reignited and I am just fine with that.

Most people are not going to pledge money to a game when the game itself hasn't been shown in any form yet. Throw in the '3 years away' and this is what you get. They've been told numerous times they need to advertise that alpha is next year but that hasn't been done yet. They don't have any pre-alpha screenshots (unless you count the sanctum one), no concept art of the races and no description on how some of the game systems are going to work. They have ideas and what they like to do (key word there is like). This is why you only have 2500 backers.

Conceptually, parts of the game are appealing but it LOOKS like a game from 1999 and based on several interviews, Brad McQuaid is still unsure of the game's direction.

Well I didn't pledge anything and I won't. I just don't do Kickstarters, period, and even if I did, I would not contribute to this clusterfuck of a KS. However, should VR succeed in their endeavors and release a solid product, I will definitely buy a copy and sub if its any good. I'd love to see an old-school MMO, but I won't fund its development.

"Nice guy? I don't give a shit. Good father? Fuck you, go home and play with your kids."

This is why they need an iron fisted manager.Ifthis funds, 100% of my pledge, as well as many others, is going directly to the State of California. GG.

Show me a funded game over 500k that had literally nothing to show at launch of the Kickstarter. And over halfway still had zero tangible other than two screenshots.

I'm not talking someone's 2k kickstarter to make some painted miniatures.

He's asking for close to a million dollars initially and has two screenshots and nothing else. Nothing.

Again show me a funded game over 500k that had nothing at launch of the KS and still had nothing toward the end other than videos about what they want to do.

I don't buy the argument that because people aren't throwing money at McQuaid's mediocre (currently upgraded from shitty) Kickstarter page.

If a game like this launched well done , I think you'd easily have 50k-100k subs and that's lowballing it.

Interest in funding a KS is not the same as interest in buying and playing a game that is available.

This thread is hilarious. They barely have a third of the KS funds and nothing even close to the funds they need for a finished product and you guys are debating where they should "move" to?!

Since this is the place to tell them what to do..here is what needs to happen at once this thing funds. Assuming this thing funds and I think it will. They need to basically work thier fucking asses off for the next year. If they come back with a game that shows off all their work, you know like a world, classes, combat, etc.. They will have a much easier time when the message is look what we did in a year. They needs lots of ingame video with Brad just talking about all the cool stuff then showing cool stuff. If they explain at that point they are a year from beta tops, I think they will have a much easier time. This is by far the hardest part as long as they are prepared to hustle following the KS in regards to development.

Convo I don't understand why he hasn't pushed the Alpha in 2015 and Beta in 2016 thing. He remarked here maybe they aren't getting that idea out , we said yes , multiple times , but if you go look at the KS page it's barely mentioned.

They should have that plastered across the top every day.

Probably because those estimates are grounded in nothing.

Oh I know, I just mean to sell the shit.

The whole thing is grounded in guesses.

Push the idea that alpha gets in in 2015 to sell it, it can be Dec 30th 2015 it's still 2015. Beta in Dec 2016 , whatever. Miss the dates worry about that then.

It's a niche audience to begin with , Jacobs got his 2 million for a niche PVP game by doing the KS right and not missing out on anyone he could convince.

Brad needs to grab every person he can, because he's starting off with a small pool like Jacobs did , from the people who won't pay anything until its available to those who want a good KS site and shown gameplay videos etc , there's also the 2017 date people see plastered all over the tiers and immediately go too far off.
