Thought about putting the seat in the middle, but then that would cut off our reach to the other kid in his seat that's behind the passenger.

It's ok, have put some money into the car, and it's good to go for a long while, and that's why I was hoping to keep it, but can sell it for more than I paid, and then just get something that will work really well with kids. Mini-van! Holla!

You're actually supposed to use the middle if you don't have multiple kids that require using both sides. The middle is the safest spot for a carseat.

I hate car seats with the force of a hurricane hitting a tornado hitting a monsoon at ground zero of a nuclear explosion.

That may be an overstatement.

I do hate them, though. I feel like there are these mile markers as parents that have nothing to do with actual parenting - being done with diapers, kids in school full time, being done with car seats, kids driving - these have nothing to do with how good/bad a parent you are, or how good/bad your kids are, but they still feel like freaking huge accomplishments.

We're down to only one booster. Beats the time when we had four car seats at once. holy mother of god that sucked.

My daughter is creepy as fuck tonight. I have to stay up on Saturdays when I work night shifts, so I am staying up tonight and in her room (directly above the living room) i hear banging and her laughing and screaming and shit. So I go up there, of course the light in her room AND the hall light are burned out. I go in there, she is just smiling and laughing, I pick her up and she won't look directly at me, she keeps looking in the same spot in the corner, and pointing and laughing. Crazy ass fucking kid.

No but they do play with balloons a lot lately, so they leave these balloons sitting around and when the AC kicks on they sometimes fly around, and every time I hear Pennywise in my had saying "We all float down here..."

Not so funny story:

Police: Goddard School teacher bit toddler, owner failed to report it - INSIDENOVA.COM: Headlines

This probably wouldn't be a huge story except this is the week that two more day care workers begin their trial for abuse at another day care, they were basically torturing the damn kids.

In what reality is biting a toddler a legitimate reaction to something one might do to you? I don't even. Looks like she has a lazy eye. Maybe she was trying to bite a sandwich and just doesn't have any depth perception and bite the kid instead? I mean shit I kind of have to make something up like that just to try and make sense of it.

And while not my child I was babysitting my nephew a couple years back and yeah they had one of those foil balloons in his room and I just didn't notice it in the corner. Lay him down for a nap and turn the fan on because it was a bit stuffy. The god damn balloon got sucked towards the fan and started getting slammed by it making loud ass noises that startled the hell out of me. I ran into the room thinking he fell out of his crib or something. Gave me a god damn heart attack. lol Oh and apparently he constantly says there are ghosts in the house and that they're friendly. He's 3 and change at this point. Kids are pretty damn creepy sometimes. geez

So some scary shit yesterday that left me feeling more than a little anxious.

We got notice about 11am yesterday morning that the elementary school two of my girls are at was in lockdown. They wouldn't tell us what was going on, we weren't supposed to contact the school. I live a block away from the school and from the outside at least, everything looked ok, except all the lights were off and no kids were outside.

We learn 30 minutes later that someone has called the police stating that they have a large number of guns and were on their way to the elementary school to start shooting up the school.

So obviously freaking the fuck out.

An hour later the lockdown is over and the police tell us that it was a prank call and that when they traced the number, it was one that has done a number of prank calls and that they will be taking action.

The town I live in is small, like 7400 people. We chose it because it is a very tight community and very very safe (rated in the top 3 safest in WA). This is not the kind of shit you expect to happen. Everything has turned out fine, but I think everyone in town is still feeling a tad rattled. Ugh.

Man, that shit is crazy. No kidding you freaked out, I know I would have, too! The office where I'm doing most of my work these days is within walking distance of one of my kid's schools. If I heard that, you know I'd have gone charging over.

Just for the record...

My wife was off on vacation this week and I was not, so she packed up the kid and went to her mothers for the week(4 hours away).

Best week ever

Don't get me wrong, I love my wife and 1 year old son, and miss them, but this is the first time I've had the house completely to myself for more than just a couple hours in over a year.

It's pretty much been just a constant beer/video game/loud music fest every evening. It's glorious.

That was me for a weekend back in July. Just me and the dog. Fast food for every meal. I don't even know if I showered!

Then my wife came home and was like, oh I thought you'd at least clean the house. Yeah right lady I did fuck all this weekend.

My wife left this afternoon (Friday) and won't be back until Monday afternoon, and I talked her out of taking our son, so she could relax. And I didn't even get any goodbye sex. I kinda feel ripped off.

You did not get any goodbye sex because you kept your son and she knows you will be to busy to even think about straying. When every I leave for a day or two for a boys trip or something similar my wife gives me all kinds of sex before I leave. She has also taken our son to visit her family a few times and again I get lots of sex. However, about a month ago she had to go on a work trip that lasted a week and a half and I kept the little dude;no sex =(.

Why doesn't your wife just remind you the standard child support and alimony payment for your state instead? Could save herself a lot of time she's wasting on cheat prevention sex.

My wife told me she was going to hang out with some girlfriends for the day and spend the night down at her friend's family beachhouse. We all have kids around the same age and older. So I assumed I was going to have a free weekend. Nope. She was getting away. Oh well, she deserved it.

So can we have a conversation about car seats? lol...

Just had our 2nd child, and we just bought a new mini van. I was really surprised when my wife said the kids go in the 2nd row, on the 2 captains chairs, instead of strapped into the bench seat in the back. This is annoying to me, as the 2 captains chairs are super comfy, have reclining feature, and tons of leg room. Where as the back is pretty cramped, like I think most mini vans. Just seems stupid.

Or am I stupid for thinking the kids would go back there? Wife says, well then how can you take care of the kids. And I'm like this is a mini van, not a sedan. NO one in the front is reaching the kids in the back. Just isn't working.

Help me out bros. What's the way to do it?

For safety, they should be in the 2nd row. I've seen a pretty bad wreck where an SUV was stopped in traffic and was hit from behind at 50mph. The forward facing car seat didn't make it but the 3 year old did. I don't know if that kid would be alive if it were rear facing.
