Must've been someone else. I guess your wife's roller coaster irrationality could just be of the monthly variety. Not yet that we are aware of. Got a few pm but I can't read them until tomorrow
My 4 year old HATED having his toe nails trimmed when he was younger. It made me feel like a shit every time. I had to hold him down like a mental patient to do itNever posted in this thread, but having to put antibacterial eye drops in my 4 year old's eyes for pink eye this past week is arguably the worst thing I've had to do as a parent, thus far. Fml.
Yeah, it has been his legs between my knees, with my wife pinning his arms and locking his dead down. Terrible. My 4 year old HATED having his toe nails trimmed when he was younger. It made me feel like a shit every time. I had to hold him down like a mental patient to do it
Kids also mature at wildly varying rates. Basically, she needs to calm the fuck down.Even better was I worked with the kid for like 30 minutes last night, having him give me high fives and then clapping. At first he'd just stare at me clapping like I was an idiot, but towards the end he started clapping. Well.. he would clap by clapping one hand on top of the other instead of palm to palm. I took it as a victory and hopefully my wife realized it was a good sign.
I did the same thing this weeked to a 1 year old and a 3 year old. Thank god THAT shit is over.Never posted in this thread, but having to put antibacterial eye drops in my 4 year old's eyes for pink eye this past week is arguably the worst thing I've had to do as a parent, thus far. Fml.

If it wasn't obvious that telling her to calm the fuck down was aimed at the wife, I apologizeSummary of link:

This isn't meant for the children, it's meant for theparents.
1 year is probably too young to be able to tell anything for sure, but there are warning signs that are observable that early. Simple things like, well, all the things you listed that he doesn't do at this point. At 1 year wife is convinced son is autistic. I'm losing my fucking mind reassuring her. Today I didn't even want to come home from work... She was crying on the phone....
Bros, what did i do wrong
The fact that you believe that it's medically treatable shows that you need to learn more about autism.Seriously. I do not believe for one second that autism is as bad as everyone is making it out to be with regards to saturation. Who the hell is behind selling the medication for this?
Every time you have to do something mine that, just think to yourself about what the parents of kids who have to do daily shots or other worse things to their kid for the benefit of the child and it helps. It could always be worse.Yeah, it has been his legs between my knees, with my wife pinning his arms and locking his dead down. Terrible.
Seriously pick up the wonder weeks book and have her read it, front to back. Lots of stories in the book with moms having the same type fears etc..I did, nothing was working.
I don't even think he is, because he's started doing a lot of the other things (he gives high fives if you ask for instance).
Oh.The fact that you believe that it's medically treatable shows that you need to learn more about autism.
Yes there are other combinations of therapy and whatever else. But where there is a pill? There is a panic attack to cause parents to "Medicate" their kids and bring in some of that needed revenue to the pharmecuticals. Either way, after watching some of those "Signs and Symptoms" 100% of American kids go through one or the other. Give me a break. I am not saying Autism doesn't exist. I am saying it is not 1 in 12 kids. BUt hey, that sure sells a lot of therapy and anti psychotics.Prescription
Risperidone, Quetiapine (Seroquel)
I had to do this with my oldest. But instead of eye drops, it was shoving a suppository up her ass. So you all have me to thank for her future "film" career.Yeah, it has been his legs between my knees, with my wife pinning his arms and locking his dead down. Terrible.
That long delay is just how babies work. Took an early play class with an early childhood specialist and she explained it that 30 seconds may seem like an eternity for us but that's just when they start getting the gears turning. Don't be surprised if it takes a couple minutes for him to respond. It's normal.Even better was I worked with the kid for like 30 minutes last night, having him give me high fives and then clapping. At first he'd just stare at me clapping like I was an idiot, but towards the end he started clapping. Well.. he would clap by clapping one hand on top of the other instead of palm to palm.
