Is it just me, or is the pacing of modern animation utterly frenetic compared to our childhoods? My kids were watching Maya and the Three on Netflix and I found the editing so battering that I had trouble following it sometimes. It's like they had just excised all the pauses between dialogue and action beats. I felt like I was developing ADHD trying to follow. When I have them watch classics I don't get the same feeling. Maybe I'm just officially old now, dunno.

umm, maybe animation techniques have improved since you were watching Steamboat Willie, gramps

No, they cut scenes like crazy in some kid shows. They’re not all like that, but there are some that are fucking exhausting, every three seconds the scene changes, the dialogue is spastic. There have been a couple we stopped watching because it was like wtf slow down. I don’t remember the names anymore.

Yeah, some of the modern stuff is atrocious, it's so hyper, I definitely notice my kid acts worse after watching some stuff. I fucking hate paw patrol with a passion, and although not animation if I ever saw that cunt Blippi in the street I'd mow him down with my car.

Bluey is great though.

Blippi! That’s one we banned. He jumps around so god damn much it’s unwatchable.

My son turned 9 yesterday and boy how time has flown! I'm sure we can all relate, it just seems like yesterday...

Similar to how they hire psychologists to work on video games, the bigger places I'm sure hire the same type of people for these shows. They determined the best way to keep kids' attention, which keeps them watching, which turns more of a profit for the views, or whatever. As someone has already mentioned it's exhausting.

My youngest has been 100% out of diapers during the day for 3 weeks now including naptime at school/daycare. Only one partial accident that I can recall.

So ready to be done with them.

8yo discovered furries ...

so, we had Ninja Turtles, Kung-Fu Panda and pretty much every cartoon mfing Ookla the Mok. Yeah some of them were hecka hot. were they furries all the time?

My issue with humanized animals v furry is the fetish aspect

Current strategy is quietly observe and allow most exploration due to high perceived probability of adverse reaction - ie "I wasn't but now you said No I damn well will" (gets it from mother)

Hmm. How did he find out about furries and the sexual aspect of them?

YouTube and Roblox. FNAF, Lola Bunny, Minerva Mink/Animaniacs , Sing, Zootopia, Arthur, etc --- Chip and Dale are now streaming on Disney Plus (is Gadget in it? ... asking for a ... child)

I would have intervened if he got near porn. Currently he knows the word and associates the word with humanized animals. His search queries are like "am I a furry?" "How do you know if you're a furry?" "Why do people hate furries?" "why are furries so cool?"

I guess I would just try to answer the questions for him, not let the internet do it. Why are you letting him do searches/unsupervised internet? He is too young for unrestricted access.

A friend of a friend had their daughter lured out and kidnapped and kept in a guys basement for months. Guy was raping her with tools, distributing content online. She only escaped because a neighbors lawn mower ran out of gas next to the basement window and she was able to get their attention. There are sick fucks out there and you’re failing as a parent by allowing that amount of unrestricted access. We only allow YouTube videos that we search and let him watch, and he’s in the same room.

I turned on Masha and the Bear for my daughter to watch for like 10 minutes while I did dishes. I just about had a seizure with how many cuts they had in it.

Teaching my 15 year old how to drive, she is doing great so far. Had a few pucker moments but no real danger.
Biggest issue is going to be other drivers, I can’t imagine trying to learn how to drive in this city...
