I snagged the king whatever version. If nothing else for the bank space I'm sure I will need to buy.

My personal order of stash tabs to buy is:

1) Currency
2) Maps
3) Fragments
4) Divination Cards

You'll also need at least one premium stash tab so you can use the trade site.

The importance of the special tabs might change a bit in PoE2 depending how the new "mapping" / crafting systems shake out. But for PoE1 that's my suggestion.

Embargo dropped for people who got to play the game at the LA event. Assuming a lot of videos are coming in the next days.

I guess he has played PoE 1 before, but why was he so amazed by character selection scene? lol.

Playing POE 1 aside the grimdark that is even in the character selection is straight refreshing when compared to almost all of the big titles these days. The soft modern aesthetic is a very real thing and when you see something that just flies in the face of that its very noticeable.

I will be going Warrior first then Mercenary because the Gemling Legionnaire intrigues me.

I am torn between going Monk Acolyte of Chayula or Mercenary Gemling Legionaire first

Sure did(LE getting boring quickly). And I still can't put a finger on it. I think the game overall lacks endgame progression. Character progression, atlas progression, loot progression(oh god, fuck farming uniques for legendary potential to slam). You very quickly run into "this is how my character is going to play for the rest of the game".

And to be fair, PoE hits this point too. Just takes longer and you usually just reroll or buckle down and finish whatever achievements you want.
My 90 hours in LE and 5,000+ in PoE summarize the difference aptly.

I keep looking at LE in my library and haven't had the desire to reinstall. I've gone back to Grim Dawn and Diablo 2, but not LE.

The wall you hit grinding endgame is high and wide. Kind of like Wolcen. One and done.

After watching Angry Joe's review of Dragon Age, you really get this. They have dialogue selections where you TRY to be mean, and then the actual dialogue you speak is diluted. A character did push-ups because she mis-pronouned someone.

Fuck modern gaming. Fuck sensitive audiences. Gimme that grimdark, gore-laced gameplay.

Question from a guy who never played POE. What makes this game better than D4 (I mean POE2)? I wouldn't mind a new franchise.
Both are attempts to make a worthy successor to Diablo 2 and have the same DNA.

Blizzard puts corporate objectives first including diversity hiring, predetory monetization and engagement metrics.

GGG puts a deep and satisfying game first because they play it, iterating systems and developing the genre.

This shines through in the games themselves. PoE just has more content. More classes, abilities, environments, items, skill trees, systems... everything. D4 needs to use level scaling to disguise the lack of content.

I'd also say that PoE is "setting" based like Elden Ring, you can delve into the lore or leave it and kill enemies. D4 is "story" based and they can't write anything decent.

You should play through the PoE 1 campaign this week and if you like it, you have the choice to do PoE 1 endgame for free or pay for PoE 2 early access if everyone is enjoying it.

My problem with LE is that once you hit 75 or so, your upgrades and char development are pretty much done with the exception to getting a build defining item.

After that you have to rely on getting a rare drop...and if you get a rare drop, you need I to drop with a rare LP....and then you need to get a great exalted item with 3 or 4 rolls you need...to then run another dungeon to try to fuse it together.

Set a loot filter to target items you need and waste 100 to 200 runs through monos with zero loot dropping, and I ask myself wtf am I even doing this for anymore.

I enjoyed LE very much, but the end game progression can be such a slog in getting any meaningful upgrade that I just stopped playing completely.

Where are you all getting info about classes for this? I'm interested in picking one, but I also don't want to watch a 45 minute video deep dive. I'm just looking for overview type stuff.

Haven't really looked at any info regarding PoE2 but was watching a few streams today going over things like support gems and I really like the changes they made in that regard. Should be WAY easier to make builds without needing to understand how every single support combo interacts and functions.

Yea I don't dislike PoE at all, but I only ever played a few leagues with F&F because it is a game that just demands too much meta knowledge to play it past lower diff campaign leveling. The changes so far seem to make PoE2 far more approachable just for a person who is, you know, reading what is presented in the UI. Even the atlas, while somewhat just a UI element to maps, is huge. Maps never really grabbed me as a gameplay loop because it's just a teleport.

its grim dark was his main point. the game pulls no punches.

you select your char. the executioner pulls the lever, and executes them all. while your rope breaks, and your char, rolls out under the gallows, and dives over the edge.
I think it then instantly goes into game. seemless. no loading. theres not even the cut away like the boat crash from poe1.

Make one?

I don't understand people thinking that "classes" are clearly defined in this. Did you motherfuckers not play PoE1?

Right, the exact same thing as in PoE 1, he just came as being amazed at something "new" to him. Found it odd.

So some EA reviews have started popping up and all have been positive (as expected), with the Fextralife vid saying the controller support for combat is very good (thankfully), but for UI navigation not so good. No idea whether you can seamlessly switch between controller and kb/m though.

Does PoE 1 currently have cross save between PC (web client) and Consoles? I read that PoE 2 will have it.

I think I'm fairly set on going sorc. Will try to make a ball lightning with knockback build.
