Welcome to the vision.I just got to Trial of Chaos in Act 3. What the fuck is this game design?
They said they are trying to "rush" the next content patch that will bring about a reset of everything.Did they announce when the next reset would be?
Just getting to sit down and listen to the full interview.
I guess magic find is perfectly acceptable to them and this is the new world we're living in, congrats on shitty design.
I also fundamentally disagree with that dude's work who is being cited everywhere to say that MF is perfectly fine. he's testing 0-60 MF on waystones with zero content, no modifiers, and no tablets applied. That's not the real world. the real world is going from ~300 rarity to about ~700% rarity with breach/delirium/extra rares/irradiated and corrupted with extra mods on rares. His tests are maliciously misleading and the economy and build diversity are being completely warped around magic find.
But Mark and Jonathan think that since items are only getting saturated into higher tiers, it's fine.
And this is the crux of the game design choice. By funneling alternate advancements (IE: MF) into limited resources, you effectively weed out niche builds and focus everything into hyper competitive meta builds that can afford to pay that price.Magic Find allows you to exchange character power for loot. With only one portal that trade is grossly asymmetrical from character to character. Melee Bro pays a higher premium for allocating stats that could be +defense/life/resists/damage/QoL than Spark Bro does because Melee Bro has to get all up in everything's business. Spark Bro is also already doing a thing that is good in Path of Exile to do - big clear with potential offscreening. Spark Bro doesn't need an extra cherry on top of his cherry on top of his other cherry on top of his sundae.
Still ass. I hate negatives on gear. Just the idea is unappealing from a design standpoint.
Only point I don't agree with, however 90% of the uniques are pretty trash and fit this category.Boring loot... honestly. Yes I can get better stats but I have not seen a single piece of loot that actually changes a build into something new. How about a legendary that changes what minions can do?
