I convinced 3 friends to join the EA since they missed PoE 1.
They're appalled by the trade website.

Time-lost gems is the big one. Look for Gold Time Lost Chests after scorp or djinn bosses in the chest rooms.

Dont need to run Unique relics for that right?

Might run a few but Sanctum is such aids. Maybe its better over leveled.

You do not.

You can use the unique Vase relic "The Desperate Alliance" to get a "Against the Darkness" Time lost jewel, but for the rare time lost you see on trade, they come from the chests.

Ran one and got forced into no energy shield at the very end. Yeah fuck Sanctum. It's no fun at all lol.

On a scale of 1 to getting booted how mad would yall be if I dumped a nearly entire quad stash of Waystones in the guild bank and didn’t organize them?

I was giving SSF another try. It's obvious they want ground loot to matter. But I was getting fed up how much of my time was spent with inventory management. Finding your own upgrades is fun, but blasting monsters is the primary draw when in game. If I have to spend too much time not blasting monsters, I get bored.

So, I came up with a pseudo-SSF mode. Can use the currency exchange, can use dump tabs, but no buying. Gear will go into the normal dump tab rotation and if someone wants it, I'll check if it's a good piece of gear to keep for myself.

There's definitely some holes in this strategy. As leagues develop, the level of gear 1ex represents might be far above what you might want to keep for yourself. But it was only thing I could come up with the address the tedium of "crafting" upgrades.

I don't think GGG can address ground loot without getting rid of trade.
Having some sorting options in the stash would be a helpful start. I find myself filling up 2 or 3 quad stash tabs of shit I pickup and I just look at it and I'm like 'what the fuck have i done...'.

Yeah, there's a reason Chimney just vendored everything for gambling gold.

GGG needs some stiffer competition for QoL features to be implemented. It's the downside to the ridiculously successful EA: GGG ain't budging on any of their friction. They might even claw some of it back.

Without a better filter system (rip off Last Epochs) or the plethora of crafting options from PoE1 picking up loot and spending time identifying (another outdated system) will always be inferior to vendor/gamble from a time/efficiency perspective which sucks the life out of the game from the start until T15+ mapping.

When real "endgame" high tier pieces are dropping and it becomes worth spending the time to ID is where the "fun" of acquiring loot starts which is a pretty heavy ask for the majority of players who will take 50-60 hours to reach that point today and maybe even double that with the rest of the campaign being released.

I'm more confident that long term this game just ends up as PoE1.5 (better graphics and a cooler campaign!) with most of the current pain points going away as league mechanics introduce more deterministic play. The vision™ they yapped about for PoE2 is all over the place and I can't imagine them doing complete system/class overhauls with the expectation this is out of EA in <1 year with only 6 classes and fairly limited build permutations already mucking up the place. It took like 5-6 years to get PoE1 to where most agree was a good point and they seem adamant to walk those steps again.

^^ After my first character got to mapping, I knew I wasn't going to be sticking around. I don't enjoy the trading (even though I did lots leveling), and currency farming is the reason I eventually quit PoE1. I'm that very "average" gamer that was never going to care about the bleeding edge end game farming anyway.

However, I enjoyed the campaign a lot, took my time, experimented a lot, and with my second serious character (Gemling "Warrior" with Sunder totems) I was kind of dreading the campaign coming to an end as I really enjoyed the playstyle. At the same time, I was wishing for it to be over, so I could be done with the game... lol, talk about conflicted.

There must be many others that have felt the whiplash/flashbacks. They just made PoE1 endgame again in a much prettier engine imo, and I got bored with it very quickly.

So be it, had a ton of fun on the way up. Back to waiting for Titan Quest 2 I guess.

This games crafting system shits on me at every god damn turn, it’s almost straight fucking uncanny just how much it ass rapes me all the time. I just had 3 3 minion skill amulets that were blue not only roll spirit on any of them after slamming, I used an anuulment orb on two of them and both removed the minion skill first shot and then used 1 chaos orb on the 3rd and the minion skill was instantly removed as well.

Fucking brutal.

Roll life
Roll minion skill
Roll resist
...........
Roll thorns
Roll damage on hit
Roll stun mitigation

Results in 1 regal shard for 3 Ex and a regal.

My typical craft.

Sure makes you wonder if it really needed to be a completely separate game.

On the other hand, Tholan Tholan 's friends "missed" PoE1. Did you tell them it was still going?

zero chance they get the sort of hype/sales they did if they kept it as just a poe1 upgrade

Got my first Lvl 20 skill gem, think I'm pretty much done at this point, endgame just isn't hooking me like it did with POE1. I think the base game / campaign was fun but that's about the extent of it. Agree with the person above that this was only a "new" game to get more money....have 2 sets of Arbiter frags so this weekend will probably try that out and then I'm really out for a while.

With my luck I'll lose both chances and be exactly where I am now with less xp, lol.

I remember something JR? said in the marketing before EA dropped, how they stopped working on the later campaign acts a few months ago, to make sure there was a "robust endgame" (grind) ready for EA players to enjoy. Not his exact words but close I think.

Perhaps they had almost nothing ready, but it would have looked way worse if they released with all 6 acts and not much else, especially given they were charging for it.
The endgame just seems so bolted-on, who knows, perhaps they couldn't really decide what they wanted PoE2 endgame to look like.

I think they needed a payday, and that was the best look they could come up with. Imo, game needed a couple more years before it even saw the light of day. The much earlier marketing doesn't match up at all with what we got, endgame wise anyway.
