My guess is they will keep it running until they actually drop the patch, so you should get at least 6 weeks+ with the way shit has been going.

The races only really matter to the ppl that can play for 15 hours a day, anyone with a day job won't have a chance to win.

It's funny, these races were basically what kept people interested in between leagues way back pre 2.0. There'd be like 3+ daily races of various varieties and they were fun to just hop on and try, especially group ones. The arena has changed though and I'm sure full racer autists are just going to crush everyone, but maybe this is their way of trying to show this is like early PoE1 development, not 10 year+ PoE1 development.

The Phrecia league wouldn't poach as much PoE2 players as you'd probably imagine if they extended it. Even the greatest leagues of all time after 4 weeks are maybe in the 115k player ranger, and I don't think this temp league even peaks at that number. Phrecia is a league for people who like to experiment, and 50%+ of the PoE1 base is people following build guides. So they'll all have to wait a few days to see what's "OP", then try to start that build, see the market for all the items is fucked because of 20,000 people doing the same thing as them, and quit.

Phrecia is an eaters league, as you'd say.

With them setting the announcement at "approximately one month" I expect the opposite. On the previous announcement Johnny Boy said that after 0.2 it was still going to be another three weeks of maintenance and tweaks before they could start production on the new PoE1 league. That's going to take time. Mid late March for 0.2, three weeks more before the PoE1 team can work on PoE1 fully and then what, a couple of months before 3.6? Turning off Phrecia would be a terrible play unless it's poorly received. They'll be lucky they can close the book on Kalguur before year has passed.

Who are the races really for? Seriously?

Back when I followed PoE 1 around year 1 or 2 they would have races and the same people won the races each time.

Why have an event that caters to only .0001% of the community?

Maybe it's just for publicity, but speed running Acts 1 to 3 doesn't seem like it would be must see TV, and 99.999% of player base can't compete anyways.

Hopped on via my PC (usually play on Xbox) yesterday after a couple weeks absense and my controller no longer connects and all my spells are missing from the skill bar.

Seems like the hot fixes are working well!

They can sunset poe1 when they actually release the game and not the half finished pile of shit it is right now

yeah, thats a good point.

if races are for everyone, then rewards need to be more universal. participation, reaching certain checkpoints.

if races are meant to be publicity, and just streamers/winners, then it needs to be treated like an esport. have a stream that monitors the top racers, has live commentary by mathil, ziz, or ziggy, or whoever might be good at it. like how super metroid speed runs are done.

They've done it before i believe where they have rewards for different placements. Example being drawing 10 random people for those between 100-200, 200-300, etc.

The problem is that it becomes less of a pile of shit and releases sooner if they're able to focus on it. Right now they're trying to keep both games afloat when it's clear they can barely handle one.

smart money imho would be to sunset poe1. let it go open source/wow classic/ultima online.

doing it now, even without having poe2 be at release state, I think would be the right move.
