For struggling warrior bros keep a few things in mind:

Rolling slam sucks cock. It's only purpose is the first hit with the huge stun mod - you basically always want to be animation canceling this thing with a dodge roll, or just straight in to bone shatter vs regular mobs.

Your clear early on is like 95% boneshatter. The first hit of rolling slam will stun anything but a rare mob, and then you just boneshatter it and everything else will die (use the aftershock gem in boneshatter).

You can assign a skill to use a specific weapons swap, and it will auto-swap to the weapons for you by using these boxes:

So keep a dual wield setup in your weapon swap to use with armor breaker cause it gets like 50% more attack speed while dual wielding. This will let you break armor even on bosses in like 2 seconds so you can go back to bigger damage stuff.

Your actual best single target DPS early is the basic attack, no meme. Put the rage and fire support gems on it and just spam it vs bosses mostly until you get better stuff way later on.

Use shockwave totem, it's really good. Jagged ground works on bosses and helps keep them in position for more damage.

Don't be afraid to use an artificer's orb on the first decent-ish weapon you find to slam a life leech rune in to it, it's a game changer instead of having to rely solely on the flask.

And the BEST part? The maps are one fucking portal. Die? Fuck you! We having FUN yet?
This is the part that worries me the most. Everything so far is beatable, but most of the harder stuff requires deaths to learn because it's not perfectly visually telegraphed. I don't mind the current process (other than too little reward), but maps seem like they will be one of three things:

1) relatively easily handled with correct gear which trivializes the non pinnacle
2) standard like normal which means you'll be dying and blowing maps constantly
3) not as varied so you can learn them all quickly

None of those seem like ideal solutions.

I will say though that while a lot of the tuning on loot acquisition isn't to my liking, it's really impressive how tightly balanced everything is. I'm just about keeping the right level, I just about clear a boss, I just about stay alive. I'm sure there's some builds and broken skills out there but it's still pretty crazy there's so many moving parts and they can accomplish this with no dynamic scaling.

Well my frost minion chaos build killed manor boss on 2nd try, only cause got one shot in first try by an aoe that was obviously not on me, a lot of the aoes are bigger than shown. I've died 3-4 times now to boss aoes I'm not standing in the circles of, shit needs to be more accurately shown.

Also.... some of these maps are way too big, with no mobility skills in sight. Having to redo maps that reset due to going afk for 8-15mins sucks, or crashes and can't enter maps errors, it's worse. Can't imagine wanting to redo the full campaign again in a season. It's just exhausting.

Nerf to gas skills is pretty harsh. Third to quarter their original damage. Some do less damage than skill requiring no special conditions.

Maybe they're testing the player's will to play the campaign again.

So I just finished the current campaign and am now on cruel difficulty, coming from someone who never got into PoE1 so not much experience with the game my first impression is that I am really enjoying this game overall. It really gives me memberberries for Diablo 2 nostalgia. I went into this game blind in that I didn't look up any classes, specs, builds, characters so it was all blind. I finished the campaign at level 47 on Sorc which I think I was fortunate because so far people seem to think it's pretty melee unfriendly at the start.

I had some ups and downs of difficulty mostly revolving around when I would jump to the next tier of spells I would be a big spike and slowly get harder until the next tier. Still overall it was challenging but not difficult, the boss fights in the game were mostly rewarding and fun and for the most part you could avoid damage just with well play. With that being said it was a tedious slog at times, the map density, health, and map size really were a bit off putting at times. The same with the quests that should be a little more clear on where to go and objectives being met. (Like the sandstorm / horn bullshit of act 2)

I am sure I could have mix/maxed but playing as someone who really didn't know what gear stats to prioritize, just randomly going with a build, spells, and skill tree. The game wasn't to bad, but I can see them doing a few tuning passes between now and actual launch to make the game overall more fun especially for new casual players.

The Good

Boss Fights - In general they were enjoyable, most mechanics were easy enough to pick up and only a couple really felt like cheap insta gib deaths.

The Loot - In general finding an upgrade felt meaningful and gave me a D2 feel.

No Scaling - Goddamn I am so tired of shit ass games and their scaling bullshit, this was a breath of fresh air in that regard.

The Bad

Map Respawn on Death - Tedious - This is something that could use an adjustment

Checkpoint system - The checkpoint system is pure ass. They are often in dogshit locations it's more of a nuisance than a help. Hell they should at least let you choose the checkpoint you want to spawn at.

Grouping - Grouping with someone to kill a boss seems to work well and even duoing is fine, on 3 players+ the mob health scaling is a detriment. Janx Janx , Daidraco Daidraco , and I tried to do some act 1 grouping early on it was a fucking slog.

Over all - Completely worth the $30, I can tell this will get a fair bit if play time from me over the next few years, hitting up different seasons here and there. With it being early access they are obviously going to have some balance patches when they add in the other classes. Hopefully with those balance changes they tune a few knobs and make the campaign less of an overall slog to get through. I am sure a combination of hp scaling, mob density, respawn, loot drops, check point adjustments would do the trick to make it feel just overall a little more enjoyable. Glad I didn't sleep on this and tried it from the start.

Multiple streamers including multiple organized crews pushing the endgame including Empy's were using lots and lots of these grenades with fire walls. Empy's crew planned out an audible to bows if the nerfs were big.

Building a system that rewards combos and then nerfing combos is some mixed messaging.

Controller is night and day easier than keyboard for Monk.

That said, what is this janky bullshit that you can't easily change between keyboard and mouse/controller when you want to access your fucking inventory or anything else in game?

Is there a way to click the god damn reroll favors button in a ritual with a controller?

Exactly. You could make it so the gas primes after a second or 2 for full multiplier which would gut the flame wall shenanigans but keep combo play intact.

Was watching ziz just now. He is in tier 4 maps. Really poweful build (warrior totems) in terms of damage. But his conserns towards end game

- it takes him 4ish hours to reach maps in PoE. He expects it to take him 13-15 hours in PoE2 in an optimized route.

- itemization and drop rate needs tuning. You can be very gear starved. Best way to get loot is to look for it at vendors or you have to buy it from people. Ssf builds will struggle more than in PoE1.

- resist cap is a massive hurdle. He had just spent 40+ chaos, regal, exalts and 400k gold to try to get resists up. He is at 9% lightning. And this is someone who knows crafting and itemization in PoE inside out.

Some other things too, but conclusion was basically things are fixable, but they do need fixing.

Problem now is casuals/new players risk being curb stomped at end game, and old players will not like the long path to maps. Especially the hardcore crowd with so many oneshot mechanics (which are multiplied with difficulty to raise res cap)

So I'm partway though act2 on my frost sorc, level 26 and I gamble up a +3 frost skills staff. Regal and exalt slam it and away we go. I've got+1 in my tree too so I'm casting level 11 spells. Really strong but I'm now also constantly running out of mana.
Decide to try out the frost shards skill from the staff and holy shit does it melt things, for 0 mana. Ridiculous damage in close range as so many shards hit the same target. Got to the kitava boss and every swing of the staff was taking big chunks out of his life bar.

The Kitava Boss almost made me quit. I had shit dmg there as a minions build.

But now in Act 3 everything melts with SRS and Arsonists skeletons with 3 projectiles. One try each Boss and they die fast as hell.

I'm pretty sure the cruel acts do not scale or something. I am blasting through this shit in like 1/10th the time it took me to go through it the first time and bosses are dying in <10 seconds.

Main complaints currently are map size with no waypoints and not very rewarding for exploring them.
Rares/Bosses don't drop dick. I've killed ~150-200 and seen maybe 20 rare items. Almost all my items are from vendor purchase (non gamble) and a few lucky crafts when I was <L20. Hopefully maps are better, but god damn drop some loot.

The good is you really feel your growth with each skill gem tier unlocking new abilities.
Boss fights were really good the first go.
I have been blind this whole time and my build is working very well though I have spent about 60k gold on respecs to tweak throughout and feel confident I'm gonna scale well.
