Just made it to act 3 and every single boss so far as just been a cake walk due to my army I think. Just killed peity 50% and she ran away like a bitch. Starting to see how and why people reroll 190 times. Since this is my first real play through of the game , I sure did fuck some nodes up and can see what I will use next time and just forget existed.

If you know a skill is going to nerfed or an area you can spend points in it for a full reset before the patch. Not super common but I've used it a few times when things haven't worked out in builds.

A willingness to learn the economy and trade a little helps a ton, but progressing through Cruel is completely doable self-found... not sure about Merciless, haven't got there yet in Invasion.

just a small note to this. using passive points early on is a great way to prop up resists. just remember though you have a limited amount of respec points available from quests.

I run a similar setup to the link provided in the quote, currently lvl 52 in Invasion. No deaths yet. Shooting for 60 tonight depending on work commitments.

Will likely spend a couple days MF running Merciless Merveil and building up some currency.

Thank you for posting that link/thread. I absolutely hate going through that forum, I dont remember one other game where the people chatting annoyed me so fucking much.

I havent spoken to one other person on the game, I just sit there and watch. I hope I never start because every other person needs to be told they are a fucking moron.

Just lost my 55 Witch to merciless ledge Devourer invasion boss. He just popped up and said GET ONESHOT NERD as he turbo'd lightning balls on me, had capped resists (77%) + 50% damage reduction from armor.

Unavoidable unless running some kind of chicken macro. Not sure what I couldve done better either.

FYI you can mute the public channels. I use trade chat when I'm taking a break just to look for currency conversion trades.

vitality, mind if I ask how much Life you had? I'm playing uber-pussy right now; just hit 55 in Cruel Docks and I don't really feel safe @ 2200, capped resist, 2000 armor. Also, I'm "Eidrol" in game with a large stash of leveling gear if you want some.

2650hp + 7 2400hp zombies (chober snapped +2 minion helm) all oneshot as soon as the devourer popped out of the ground.

Probably gonna take a break, seemed a bit overtuned. I mean 77% resists getting oneshot by that, in merciless ledge no less. Not to mention I lost a good couple exalts worth of gear I had farmed and traded for.

Gonna wait it out.

Ambush is where it is at right now. Invasion has to be tuned down eventually. Both my RL friends that played Nemesis before have stopped running their heads into the walls in Invasion. One switched to Diablo and the other is messing around now in Ambush.

max resists has never been enough. you need to max out after elemental weakness for higher maps. Granted the start of merciless is a little earlier for this than weve ever seen but needing higher than max resists is not unprecedented.

I was over max in merciless. I am accustomed to over-maxing for high-end maps as I had a very similar build in Nemesis in the high 80's. (Running Purity Aura, grace, and determination at +70% aura effectiveness) and godly gear. And was not Ele-Weaknessed at the time of the oneshot.

The mob did not say it dealt chaos damage either, and I'm 0% Chaos resist in merc. Because fk its hard to find lvl 55 gear with decent chaos resist without making some kind of sacrifice.

Well then I was ele weaknessed at the same time the oneshot lightning ball struck. I don't know what to say. I don't particularly feel inclined to give this another go as it would require me (atleast in merciless) to lead with a totem through each map each run in order to avoid this.

I feel like I might be missing something. Because literally over half of the bosses I encountered posed a similar threat. And I ended up just skipping any of the bosses that oneshot my similarly statted tank zombies.

As a point of reference, not even Kole could kill my zombies in cruel.

TL;DR - QQ I got wrecked

You aren't missing something, half the PoE community is in revolt over this "expansion." By which I mean moreso than usual, as the game has the worst community ever and its default state seems to be petulant teenage rebellion.

I simply chose to quit (again). Patch 1.1.0 was a net loss for the quality of the game, and while PoE is carried by a handful of great founding concepts, all the surface design is a mess of broken programming and ill-conceived misconceptions of what qualifies as difficulty.

The game showed so much potential throughout closed beta when you could see what a great game it could become with proper development, but the potential was never really realized and the production value never rose above its closed beta levels.

So as much as I follow this game I haven't been able to find when the vaal gems are useful given their soul requirement. Can anyone correct me?

Soul requirements reset after each load into a new zone, most of the abilities require you to kill upwards of 70 mobs, in it's current form the vaal gems are pretty lack lustre as you have found.

I think Vaal Molten Shell is probably one of the only real usefull ones.

Yup, this sucked balls. Mobs are overtuned and unrewarding, vaal gems are worthless. Did nothing to make the map grind any more entertaining. Back to LOL I go.

That's the impression I'm getting from streams. Going to wait out until they fix this expansion or the upcoming permanent cutthroat league, which should be in a couple months.
