Announcement from GGG about the podcast topics Christ has spoken about. Mentions players saying defences are in a terrible state, then say we will continue with our plan to nerf fortify for non-melee.

This was particularly jarring:

One of the issues we're currently facing in Path of Exile is that for the most part, players no longer find their item upgrades by checking the items that drop on the ground. This is something we'd very much like to solve and will be mindful to not do this in a way that effectively results in a sweeping nerf. We would like to declutter the items that drop by a lot so that things like pick-up range matter less as there would be fewer item labels on the ground competing for attention.

Whilst watching Chris talk on the stream, he looked stunned while Ziz was saying that you will NEVER FIND AN ITEM OFF THE GROUND THAT COMPARES TO A CRAFTED ITEM. It dawned on me then that Chris legit thinks people ID everything and go "Wow, what a fantastic upgrade this rare item is".

GGG really need a data analyst working for them who can extrapolate data and present it to the corresponding team. Chris sat on that stream and said we can't find any builds having problems with spellslinger and then asked for players to report non-working builds. Why? You have that data available to you as you can see who played it till when and what level they stopped at. How about you extract that data from your servers and then look at it. When they can literally just /copy all the spellslinger builds in the game and use testers to play them as exact clones it's lazy as fuck to ask the players, go get the data and fucking test it yourselves.

Some changes they are planning might be good, atlas, uber 5 ways, simulacrum, etc, but after listening to Chris talk on Ziz's stream, I've got zero hope for the game. It's clear Chris won't allow improvements to the player experience and wants the game to be an RNG nightmare. With a person this out of touch at the helm, the game's still heading for the rocks.

Players also expressed that they'd appreciate improvements to the trade site (or a separate auction system) to make it easier to trade large quantities of certain items like currency items or maps.
this answer really encapsulates how GGG handles feedback. A response that doesn't answer anything. Just pointless words. Players have been asking for a trade to be fixed for years. They word it like they have just heard about the issue. And they don't even say that they are discussing it. Fuck off, Chis.

Literally the fucking problem I have harped on for several leagues now. I’m probably rose colored glasses on d2 because I don’t think I played ladders but I seriously remember getting some useful shit on the ground…or do I?

Does it matter?

It just feels progressively worse every league to create filters that hide more and more items in favor of currency and league mechanic items. Does anyone actually pick up items for potential use once entering maps? I haven't basically the entire time I've played the game, but that is because I rarely ever use items picked up off the ground during the campaign after act 5. Mainly because after your first resistance hit, you either already have the gear to absorb it or you take that opportunity to trade/RNG craft gear to make up for it. Then it is all about keeping resistances, having sockets, and scaling damage. Those goals, even that early, are so specific that trying to solve them with ground loot is optimistic at best and laughably stupid in reality.

It would be hilarious to see any GGG dev, and especially Chris, stream themselves playing the goddamn game and doing it at what they would consider a decent pace. I'm confident it would be the stuff of the spiciest memes.

You would need one inventory of loot, absolute max, per map in order for loot off the ground to be come worth IDing and inspecting. I suspect, even if only subconsciously, this is where the desire for "hardmode" came from. It's far easier to make dropped items more valuable by limiting how many drop instead of making those that drop inherently valuable.

League start I ID top tier bases except chests and jewelry. I dump into a tab sight unseen set to like 5c or something. Scan if anything gets spammed. Usually then I cash it out into chaos recipe.

but your point is well taken and I don’t know I make much that way.

Wait.

Wait wait wait.

We're supposed to find our upgrades on the ground? How? When? No really, I need an explanation on this. During Ritual I needed a wand. I picked up every single rare wand. I changed my item filters to show me every reasonable wand base so I could blow every flavored alchemist on rolls. Imagine an idiot with a tab full of normal prophecy wands and shit spending time harvest-alching. That was me. It got me nowhere. I wasn't shooting for the moon either. Other times I've picked up every single Coral Ring or every single Amethyst Ring or every single leather belt because I needed an upgrade in those slots and it always feels like a waste of time.

As a shitter my gear (excluding what I buy outright) comes from the league mechanic. That's been the case so long I assumed it was their design philosophy. Each league a substantial portion of your gearing up will be supplied from from the league mechanic itself. That made sense to me. Do the Ritual thing (or the Harvest thing), look at the items, maybe something is decent, buy currency if nothing is, move on. Ultimatum was do the Ultimatum and maybe something fancy comes your way. Expedition is Rog. It's an issue that I'm not picking more shit up off the ground for upgrades? That's not where upgrades come from! If I'm supposed to get shit off the ground than they need to reduce the amount of litter 95% or higher and then when something actually drops it needs a chance at not being garbage.

I do hope trade is addressed at some point. Buying and selling regular items I almost never have a problem but buying maps/currency/oils/whatever is always such a fucking pain in the fucking ass. I just expect now to need to send a dozen messages to get someone to respond.

What a fucking moron. Not only does he want us to pick up loot from the ground, he wants us to ID it, and then he doesn't want to give us any meaningful way to colorize affixes.

You know, picking loot off the ground wouldn't be the worst thing either, if Harvest 1.0 was still around. If I got a triple T1 item, at least I knew I could craft on top of it, then yea, I'd start picking up bases again. But there is absolutely no fucking way you are getting upgrades for most builds once you hit "the wall" of most builds (around T14-16) by picking up fucking items off the ground. What a total fucking tool.

Picking loot off the ground stops after yellow maps for me. And that's just how a prefer to play. You can literally spend 1C and get items 100x better then 99.999999% of shit you will pick off the ground. The smug little rotund prick's delusional into thinking that POE's itemization is as simple as ripping open MTG packs.

If they want people picking shit up off the ground, they need something akin to D3 where it immediately tells you what +/- impacts to damage, durability or regen it has. Given the massive amount of variety inherent in POE which is infinitely better, I don't see that as ever happening (but it would be nice). There's a lot of builds where I would think something works only to find out later by PoB'ing it, it does jack shit. Probably the case for 90% of the people who play, and 80% of them don't know how to/use PoB for anything

If they want normal players to ID stuff, then they have to throw them a bone. Cut half the useless shit that items can roll and make it so that items have a much better chance to roll 2-3 cohesive mods. I'm not saying drop perfect items, but at least give the item a weighted chance at being half decent. Even if that happens, tons of end game people will still only ID stuff for the first couple of days of the league to get a bit of life, resists and stats for mapping. This way might have the added benefit of making casuals craft more, they might take a punt on actually trying to craft something if they've got a half decent base with a couple of good rolls that cost them nothing initially.

Ghazzy was talking about how the higher end crafts should be much more RNG and risky than crafting low tier basic gear. At the moment he said it's pretty much the opposite, as if you've got enough currency you can pretty much guarantee 90% of the outcomes quite easily at the high end of the crafting scale. He's going to have Chris on his podcast and I think his interview will be better as he's probably not going to shite it and won't take bullshit answers. He's already said he doesn't want Chris going off on tangents about hard mode and D2 and shit like that.

I've watched a little bit of Preach after Bubbles Bubbles linked him a few pages ago.
Did anyone else do that? Because its been pretty fascinating watching him play blind without any internet/chat help.

Just using him as a case study i would'nt think that buffing the acts is making things unduly hard on newbies. Even with 0 knowledge and a messed up tree they (or atleast preach) just get lost and full clear basically every zone so they end up way overleveled. And he's still enjoying it.

If i were GGG and watching him i'd make sure to work on
1: Making the ingame tooltips/explanations better
2: introduce the crafting table in a better way and most importantly imo
3: Make the standard loot filter better and smart. It should probably highlight the weapon type and maybe armor types that you're currently using. And hide/prevent (atleast normal rarity) weapons/armor basetypes that are useless unless they have maybe 4 links or something.

If an item on the ground comes up as influenced, fractured, enchanted, etc. than how about also telling us if an item has an increased chance of not being shit?

In regards to buffing the difficulty of the acts I would recommend not using a former member of Method as a benchmark for anything.

Honestly, picking up good items on the ground is something I'd be happy to do, so long as you know a rare drop actually meant something. The unfortunate thing though, is they actually DID hit that mark great during 3.13 with talismans, which they nerfed into uselessness. So they actually "fixed" the problem they say they are trying to solve, at least for talismans, and then undid that fix the next league.

I suspect they will do the same shit with these rares dropping and we'll be back to square one again.

A lot of the rares on the ground suck issue would be resolved if they would just drop identified. There's no reason for any magic or rare item to drop unidentified on the ground.

It would be amazing if stuff dropped ID'ed. It would help increase build diversity, crafting and increase player satisfaction There would be items available for the most niche builds more than likely. It would also shake up trade and help counter marketplace manipulation as rare prices would fall across the spectrum and that's a good thing for everyone.

Yes, and it's pretty fucking amazing how easy they could implement it. They could even make it a sextant mod, if they were not sold on just doing it across the game.

But instead they are going to drop Wisdom scrolls in stack of 5 so you don't have to click as much. But then, they are going to make you still click as much to ID everything. Fuck that mess. No one is gonna pick this shit up. Of couirse, I'm sure Xevy has this great reasoning why using 2000 wisdom scrolls makes sense, and is gamebreaking, state of the art gameplay.

Their reasoning for not auto-sorting is ridiculous too. "Well there are many ways to sort, how do we know how you want it sorted?". Really? That's what you're going with?

Yeah they should just make all the loot drop at the end so you can easily sort throught it. Then have a guy in your hideout that can mass ID it.
