Well if its 3 hours that is awesome, ill have time at work to start. They had a ghetto one translated for the right side already which showed the major changes but it was pretty bad at least looking on my phone.
It was just a speculative snapshot with a guy comparing the key nodes to ones already on the current tree based on the icon graphic.

I may actually have to join vent/ts with you guys cuz when I tried to play this game last time I was confused as fuck and I didn't have the patience to read sites all day. Count me in, I got nothing else going on.

If you're up for it, it'd be informative for you to do a practice run through the early-mid game right now in preperation for the real league beginning next week.

I highly suggest following one of ZiggyD's beginner builds. Link below:

The Righteous Fire Marauder Build Level 1 to High Level Maps in Less than a Week | ZIGGYD TV

If you get that guy up to level 65 I'm sure we can all chip in and buy you the unique you need to transition into your end-game build.

I think a theorycraft/buildcraft TS/Mumble session would be pretty sweet. I could stream it for VOD purposes too if you guys would like.

I think i might go for a normal Atziri farm build with all of these changes, something like a dual wield block build.

Reading the Reddit speculation about how many new builds may open up contingent upon how drastically GGG reduces the life node requirement...

I'm super excited for the skill tree reveal. Plus, Beyond league reveal on Friday!

I was thinking the same thing but if the Generousity gem works on minions I might just go back to my roots.
Would assume it does, aren't more aura changes coming though? Then you have to consider, how many auras can you support with it. I mean last I played you'd run auras in a 4L with 3auras+reduced mana, putting this as a support means you only get 2auras, do you run a 2nd 4L for more auras or do you just stay at 2. What about all the other shit you have to run. I saw a lot of people were using the flame skulls shit instead of proper summons, if that's the only thing you need I guess it's not so bad but before you needed like a zombie and a spectre link setup so that'd eat in your shit pretty quick, then curses, skeleton totem and maybe a shitty nuke to direct the mobs or the thingie to pull your summons to you or desecrate and all that shit, makes it hard to run more than 1 item for auras so you lose an aura in the process. Seems like 3auras vs 2auras that do increased effect still favors 3 auras.

Anyway, it's just one thing among a lot of other changes so need to see the entire list of changes to figure it out.

Btw they never fixed Viper Strike to not suck complete ass right? I mean even with the scaling on it and shit, it was still garbage iirc, poison arrow got pretty decent in the process but not viper strike because it didn't work with something or other, still the case?

Generosity says "Increased effect of auras on party members" Minions aren't party members. This is a datamined description though so I hope it changes.

Viper Strike can be melee-splashed and it scales off of chaos/DoT nodes on the passive tree, it's viable. Especially with empower gem and +2 melee +1 all skills weapon swap.

Edit: I would only run Hatred + Vitality (or haste) aura on the reduced mana + generosity 4L if it affected summons.

** which means I'd give up my vaal summon skeleton boss kill cheese 4L **

Ah right that's what I couldn't remember, Viper didn't use to work with splash, does now? Sounds alright.

Generosity wording yeah I didn't double check, the wording would make it not work on pets then, I guess it kinda make sense as a team aura bitch char kind of thing, though it sounds like a good way to get yourself killed in HC if you don't benefit from your defensive auras. Maybe you run a damage group of auras with generosity and your defensive auras normally so you benefit too.

Posion arrow is godlike because you can increase the damage of the cloud with trap and what not.

They should let us Animate Guardian items with gems in them and have the guardian use the gems. At a reduced effectiveness of course. I'd totally do a viper strike animate guardian.

Krass, what do you think of Cast on Crit Discharge Flicker strike? Possibility to go infinite?

I was thinking something like - Flicker Strike + Multi Strike + Melee Splash + Cast on Crit + Discharge + Power charge on crit

With terminus est and blood dance for frenzy charges on crit. Or just blood dance and unguils gauches or something.

I don't get excited about many things in life but a few being, fucking my wife, good times with my daughter, and video games. More specifically skill trees in video games fucking love skill trees, so no I will not take it easy. I will consume that node knowledge like a fucking mad man ASAP.

So I do own PoE on steam...I've tried getting in to it several times. Is the Marauder a decent class to start with? Also, what's the most "popular" mode to play?

Classes don't really matter much. They define what you look like(probably the most important aspect in fact), where you start in the tree(relevant early game but rarely late even though some classes have better affinity with certain specs) and which skill gems you're offered as quest rewards while you level(relevant for the first char on a new league kinda, but really it takes a few seconds to trade for gems you want generally). Every class can be anything though, you can make a tank melee witch and a caster marauder. The starting point in the tree will mold your choices a bit however, for example a marauder caster would have to get several life nodes then several empty nodes to get to the damage nodes and the fact you don't start close to damage nodes might reduce efficiency of the build, but we're talking min maxing high end stuff pretty much. Also in that particular example, marauder casters are in fact very good eventually but are a pain in the ass to level due to shit int.

So kinda pick one you like how it looks then make a build that uses the early tree strength of that class, or alternatively do it the other way, but you can't really go wrong with a class choice.

As for the "mode", they're leagues. There's the typical normal and hardcore permanent leagues, then they always run like 4months leagues with new rules. Those are the popular ones. Once the league is over, your character is transferred to the permanent league and a new one starts, think D2 ladders. Difference being, each league tends to have specific rules added to them and they often run race events on short term leagues(or not so short), like 2hours races and shit but also sometimes 1month races. On hardcore in this game, first it is fairly hard and second your character isn't deleted unlike diablo hardcore. When you die, your char is simply moved to the permanent standard league. You can still play it and stuff but not on the HC league you were in. Your stash stays there too for other HC chars, if you want to change you just make a shit mule, load it up and die, but you can never go back the other way.

They're starting new 4months leagues next week so might as well wait for that. The new leagues will be Rampage(the standard league, the added rule is that you get a bonus for killstreaks) and Beyond(the hardcore league, they haven't released the details of that league yet). You can mess around with current leagues if you want, I'd recommend Ambush/Invasion for population since they're the current 4months leagues, unless they're over yet not sure. Standard/Hardcore is fine too but they tend to be deserted during 4months leagues.

The most popular mode is either Standard or the 3-month league. A new 3-month league is starting up in 7 days, called "Rampage". I would suggest messing around with some characters on the Standard league for a few days and then either going with Rampage or the hardcore 3-month league which will be called Beyond.

As for starting class, Marauder is fine as a start but realize that the "classes" are a much looser concept in PoE than other games. You could still be a Marauder "caster" if you wanted to, it just wouldn't be quite as ideal in many cases.
