I recommended to my friends for their first time to do the leagues and then gauge if they want to stay in standard or do the new leagues.

Really you dont need to go hard day 1 unless you want to be rich, I know I am going low life most likely so no sleep farming for me.

God there's so much whining about the CoE nerf on reddit/the forums. Apparently CoE was OP as all fuck so they're nerfing it, which is fine, but since the nerf doesn't require it, the item doesn't get a legacy version and suddenly all the people who have been stockpiling CoEs to make bank are crying tears of rage at how it's unfair and whatever the fuck.

Hmm the nerf is it only applies to additive spell damage, not multiplicative(RF/PA, so basically low life). Might have nerfed the value too not sure.

I'm trying to be empathetic... I can grasp why some are upset. GGG is breaking precedent here...

That being said, what fucking neckbeards. I will never understand why someone would voluntarily play standard league, but this QQing is definitely helping me identify the demographic.

Well they're not really, they've done nerfs in the past that haven't created legacy items. Regardless it was all speculation, they didn't say they'd make legacy CoEs then said "nope", people assumed they would and now they aren't and it's suddenly GGG's fault for them assuming wrong.

CoE is just so powerful for only taking a hit to fire resistant which is easy to overcap like anything, it had to be coming or major changes to PA which is still in the same place in the tree.

Edit ::
Essentially, Pain Attunement and Righteous Fire won't affect it anymore. All the other spell damage nodes and mods still will, so it'll stay a strong item, but it won't be insane like it has been up 'til now.

They make legacy items when they have to change the number rolls on items since they can't easily just adjust those. Unique properties/mechanics like on the crown is just a reference so it's a one-stop deal.

Yea I get it. I'm saying, I understand why some people are pissed. I also think they're silly neckbeards for playing standard league and QQing when economic speculation backfires.

So I've been dicking around in softcore the last couple weeks, waiting for the new leagues. I'm super casual/self found but always play hardcore leagues, but pretty much always end up dying somewhere in my 60s in Act 2 or 3 Merciless.

Man, Merciless is just crazy. I've eaten it probably 10 times on my softcore character, all being in side corrupted areas. Those minibosses are no goddamned joke on merciless difficulty. Even with maxed 77% resists, they just tear the ass out of me. I'm pretty sure once I get to Merciless in the next Hardcore league, I'm never entering a side corrupted zone. Even though they are only bumped up by 1 level, it seems like the damage those bosses put out is orders of magnitude larger.

Well you're in for a treat then. The revamped quest bosses seem to be the corrupted versions (Ice Rain merveil etc)

So, is is possible to even get to the point of regularly doing maps in Hardcore if you never, ever group? Seems like the only safe way to play if you don't group is with a minion or totem-based build, something that takes the attention of mobs and their damage besides you, because you basically can't get enough defense & resists to not get damn near 1-shotted by some bosses, no matter what they do. If their attention is on you, you are toast.

Roger. It was mostly a point on them not actually breaking any precedent, since it's how they've handled items since the start. Most of the forum warriors who had their "brilliant" plans of selling crowns backfire just conveniently ignore that.

Yeah, that looks very nice. Really need to see the new passive tree pronto though to get something more to speculate about than just what hideout I'm going to pick.

I've been playing a cast on crit shadow recently, but it felt kind of glass cannon'ish. Crazy DPS, but couldn't take damage very well. Recently respecced an old marauder who had his points unspent into a righteous fire build. Got the phoenix shield (thanks Krassus!) and bought a very cheap carcass jack and blood dance boots. At level 69 so far, the build feels infinitely more tanky, and the dps is solid also, although the whole point blank range only is a downside.

My goal is to kill Queen Atziri before the expansion comes out, and hopefully farm up the sceptre she drops, which would be a phenominal upgrade to the righteous fire build. Having never attempted her before, and not wanting to waste the components, is she doable for a character in the mid-70's, or does she require really end-game gear before attempting?

I've never done Atziri -- what kind of build can do this fight and what kind of gear is required? Can solo self-found players expect to fight Atziri? Just kinda curious, my friend says he'll give PoE a shot but he only plays solo/self found and hes pretty convinced PoE is a game for traders only. Last time I played (invasion) I felt solo self-found was in a pretty decent spot, but I got no where close to Atziri.
