Ya, it's kind of a quixotic one there. Getting to max block takes up so much resources that there's none left for much of anything else, and if block DOES fail, which it will even with 90%, you're taking a full hit, so why not have pure damage reduction like armor or life/str stacking something. Then you look at doing bleed, and you're stuck with some pretty lackluster stuff. Though I was eyeing getting to 11 impale stacks and the mastery that gives you 6% bleed multiplier per impale... it just seems like you're spreading your points too thin/not focusing enough to get there.

I DO think there's something to doing a tank with impale stacked to 11 and... some skill or other. Maybe one of those new earthshatter skills... need to monkey around in POB some more.

Gladiatator's almost certainly a dead ascendancy atm. Bleed pops used to be the way, but now there's explosions in every flavor. Challenger charges are cool, but 80% of the gladiator tree is just block bullshit you can get elsewhere and a lot is conditional. The pure phys shit is good, but pure phys, bleed especially, is just terribly lackluster compared to ele conversion or even impales now that you can have like 12 impales stacked.

The last time I played gladiator I was hardcore because it was the best tanky ascendancy. This was breach league. They've changed so little since then it's laughable. I can't wait for the remake because they've been absolutely nailing it. Trickster is godlike, Pathfinder "Nerf" made them the best mapper for easy defense, Guardian "nerf" got an amazing balance of defense and offense, and Chieftain they "killed" is, albeit not as totem specialized, incredibly good QoL with 90 all res and 500% hp explosions. Assassin/Gladiator are probably up next as Assassin outside of Mistwalker and niche poison stuff, garbage. Powercharge shit you can get elsewhere in some form or slight +gooder power charge efficiently and crit stuff which doesn't matter because everyone can cap crit.

But yeah, Glad is dog shit. Just play a champion and save up divines for challenger charges and you'll be better off. Free fortify, bullshit Perseverance belt that benefits from grace + defiance. Easy ascendancy. Throw on %bleed explode charms (they're guaranteed explodes) or Haemophelia's and you're set.

I don't disagree that Assassin and Gladiator are the most lackluster ascendencies at the moment but for Assassin in particular the changed Ralakesh open a lot of doors for them.

An ES build that stacks phys to ele conversion with Gravens is incredibly tanky and now has no downside. You can now get to 9+ power charges easily and cheaply and all the "free" crit multi they get works better for high damage output, out of the box, than Occultist/Heiro.

Ralakesh are insane and those Maven belts are busted as hell now because of them. All these charge stacking items that exist with downsides that are completely negated because you don't actually "produce" the charges when wearing one of those belts AND you get the benefits of both types of charges.

Next up for me is working on abusing the new Forbidden Rite of Soul Sacrifice with Chaos Innoculation and ES stacking. Kinda surprised that gem has flown under the radar so far.

Finally started a char on this for the first time, made a boneshatter berserker and I have been having a blast, though I have no clue what I'm doing. Am 71 in act 10 and the endgame seems to be MASSIVE, though I'm sure I screwed myself by not following a build guide.

Mainly went +phys / +leech / +armor in the passive nodes, seem to be starting to struggle finally with the uniques and bosses, but still having fun. Any ELI5 sites that give a good overview of all the 10000 systems in place for endgame? I have done a few contracts, and also a few rooms of the pyramid thing where you kill 1 of two bosses on a timer.

Also have the mine area opened up but haven't really done anything there yet. Have some white and yellow maps that I assume I cant do anything with until I finish the campaign?

You can go delve some (the mine area) but you can't use maps until you beat the campaign.

Gotcha, doing the tutorial mission didn't make it seem very fun, I think Im at the part where I fight Kitana in A10, just have 1 more side quest to do......though I may hold off for another 2 levels just to see if I can gear up more before the full penalty kicks in. I'm very much a noob to this game.

You're not going to hurt yourself by making sure your character makes sense and has their resists sorta handled before bopping Kitava. If you start getting mangled in white maps there's always Purity of Elements.

My elementals are all 75+ but chaos is like negative 30 I think, when do I have to focus on bringing that up as well? (Gonna be even harder after A10 too, no?)

With chaos resist a lot of the time you just sorta do the best you can. Different classes/builds have better/worse answers. You can run an Amethyst Flask for a little help but on softcore getting it to be a positive number is where a lot of us call uncle.

It's made its way to a lot of new map mods/ultimatum mods/Arch Nemesis mods now so it can definitely be a problem but if your character is relatively tanky with ~5k-6k hp/ES combined and 75% all res and decent armor and/or evasion 0% chaos resist should do just fine. You can also grab an Atziri's flask for extra damage if you're not Avatar of Fire or Brutality and it's free damage with some defense WITH some nice life leech.

Delve is best done with a "delving character". Something speedy and evasive with good damage and usually clear via pops. Good life regen is good too for dipping into the darkness without wasting flares.

HH, 2 valdos puzzle box, voidborn key and hinkora's lock plus 10 divine and other shit in one map. this is bananas. burial chambers seems better than jungle valley to me.

having hardest time getting the spires to pop though. think I’m killing it too fast. can they pop each time the abyss moves or the last time

I gave up on abyss.

Me and a friend both run an aura bot to help each other as we like to switch things up. No matter what though, even doing the best to be as observant as possible, I pretty much one-shot the spires. There's nothing I can do to avoid that, and abyss just didnt do it for me.

I am still doing wandering path, and juicing maps. Just with legion instead of abyss.

Think this is the final take on the Forbidden Rite Pathfinder budget build. Swapped Malevolence for Determ + Defiance Banner, switched a flask suffix from cast speed to armour and switched some things in the tree to take some more cast speed nodes. Phys max hit went from ~11k to 18k without Molten Shell. Also added Molten shell, took out withering step and the culling setup as I didn't really need it. ~76k EHP when Molten Shell is up (though its always insta procced off cooldown from CWDT in this setup since... Forbidden Rite)

Went from 91-95 today in 8 mod T16s juiced with Affliction wisps. Build feels good.

I've been playing poison FR today too, but it seems my results are much different.


Clear is fantastic. Auto-aiming projectiles help spread poison prolif.
Despite ridiculous max hits and Master Surgeon sustain, I still go splat every few maps WITHOUT wisp juice.
Single target dps feels anemic. I think this is the umpteenth time I've had to learn that I don't like poison ramp. Doesn't help that I can't see shit with this skill. I frequently stand still to cast for a few seconds only to move(been standing still for too long!) and find that the boss moved away at least halfway through.

Almost done buying the basics, at least, for my swap to coc. Going with ice spear of splitting for now, til I get more currency, since I wanted to use as many pink foils as I could. Haven't ever played CoC, what's the main purpose of the spells in my Cospri? I have a frostbite on hit ring so should I just try and throw in a 3link that'll help with single target damage or maybe culling strike?
