Yeah, I was shocked at how much + levels effects spells.

I was running a 4-link Arc with Arc-echo-faster casting-added lightning damage, and swapping to a 3-link with +1 lighning gem level and dropping the added lightning damage was like a 10% increase in DPS, not to mention less mana used as well.

The only downside now to running a 3-link arc is that I don't have that extra slot for adjusting to situations(I used to occasionally swap out added lightning damage for lightning penetration). With the 3-link, I really can't drop echo or faster casting, the DPS drop is just too significant.

I now have a +2 lightning level shield, and it's crazy good.

edit - if anyone needs one on standard league(it got sent there when i died in HC), I have an extra one of those unique 2h staffs that have the +2 fire/+1 level of gems with the extra 70% burn damage. Great for a flameblast build.

If anyone gets the Vaal Pyramid corrupted area I need the boss to finish the kill challenge for uniques. Been spamming it when bored but damn he is rare.

Wow, I had no idea that the Vaal Pyramid levels could even spawn a corrupted area, I've never, ever seen it.

Lightning pen is priority after spell echo in arc.

Lightning penetration is better than faster casting for mobs/areas that aren't particularly lightning resistant?

@Arc, you want lightning pen as a priority over almost all. Arc + Pen + Echo + Empower in a Vertex Vaal Mask is the perfect setup imo. Its +level 4 at 50% mana cost from the helm. About to start an Arc witch once I knock out this Vaal Pyramid bastard tonight so I can start the lvl 65 challenges.

Awesome. I have spell pen on it already, just wanting echo for max dps now. How much are those hats?

When I leveled my lightning witch, I used a tabula rasa with arc - echo - lightning pen - curse on hit - elemental weakness - conductivity (dual curse node from tree).

While you could curse everything manually, the reality is most players likely never curse outside of unique mobs, so passively gaining a total of about -110% lightning resist on everything I hit was huge. Another perk was that even though it was a 6 link spell chain, the only ones that increase mana are echo and penetration.

You can buy the budget version for a couple of chaos at 51 called Geofri's Crest. It just doesn't have the 50% reduced mana cost. If you cant afford empower your 4th gem imo should be faster casting. Arc is all about levels and speed.

Empower needs to be leveled to 3 which takes from about 1-95 roughly if you have it 20% quality.

People sell crazy good items for cheap, seriously. a pair of gloves with 241 es for 3 chaos I think. With 2 mod slots open, crazy.

I wonder though, is it possible for me to use 2 crafted mods on that item? Right now it has:
+es
increased es
+1 mana after kill
and 1 more stat I can't remember.

Technically, can I craft dual resists on this item? Or would it have to be one craft + exalt

I'd 1 craft + exalt those. Especially since you paid 3c for a 3ex pair of gloves.

Those gaunts have +es flat, +es %, and MAK. Thats 2 prefix, 1 suffix which means you can add 2 resists and then HP / Leech / or ES + Block recovery if you are pure ES.

I dont know if some of you guys have messed around in D3 with the new seasons but PoE has officially taken a dump on that game. I am still a D3 fan boy for life but what an easy and forgiving game when you have experienced both.
