Thinking about getting back into PoE. What's a good melee build to run maps and do end bosses in standard league?

The guild bank has a ton of stuff but I can for sure hook you up if you end up playing for more then 4 hours.

Nylab in game and just lemme know what sort of shit youre going to do. Ice crash is pretty amazing I guess but as said, cyclone is pretty basic, easy and deadly once you level up the gems and get some phat loot.

I haven't traded or sold anything in however many years it's been so I have a 100 tabs full of shit that I like to give away and use for new alts. It would be no problem at all. The titties and I are headed to dinner in a few so tomorrow or later tonight (eastern) would be best for me.

That will be great, I'll definitely hit you up tonight or tomorrow. I divide my time between PoE and Marvel Heroes. And yes I'll be playing more than 4 hours. I was looking at the PoE forums and it's a toss up between Cyclone and Ice Crash. A guild invite would be nice also. I been guildless ever since I started playing this game in beta.

I rolled up an SRS Witch the other day. Pretty neat build. Was a bit of a pain in the ass to level until I got 2x 4L items (one for SRS one for Zombies) and Spell Echo but now things are dropping pretty quickly.

srs is one of those builds you really feel how every added thing you get improves both the clearspeed and the feel of the build. When you can run hatred, haste (if that's still a thing? I guess many use anger now) and have high cast speed / max duration on nodes they just go bananas. If you ever get a +3 staff and a 4 empower you'll just autowin the game.

You can get a +3 staff relatively easily nowadays, there's actually a reddit post that explains how to craft one from scratch(scratch being a 6link staff, since it costs quite a bit and you really don't want to bother for a 4L). Involves limiting the mods a lot with master mods so you force a +1gem after having a +2 roll from regals(or alts I assume, but regal is faster), and then remove everything to get a +3staff with no other mods, and then you kinda need to get lucky and exalt semi decent shit on the rest. Does end up costing quite a lot in the end, but less than a 6L +3staff you'd buy. That said, SRS functions fine even without these, which is pretty impressive.

There's even a super budget option I saw someone recommend where you use the mine Tremor Staff to make SRS mines instead, take a few mine passives instead of cast speed passives, and it makes up the difference with generosity aura(specifically haste) and summoning faster(because unlike spell echo, the tremor staff is a flat 2x summon per "cast", and the casts themselves are faster due to having 60%mine speed on the staff itself alone). The SRS are weaker but the better auras and higher amounts pretty much events out decently, and since SRS isn't targetted anyway, the weirdness of mine build isn't much of an issue.

Yeah it is so far going really well. I'm still only A3C so I have a ways to go. I'm currently running Hatred/Generosity + Mana Regen as my auras. Haste was nice but Hatred seems to make things go faster so I can only cast/echo my skulls to summon about 4 and keep moving and they just kill everything with help of a Flesh Offering.

The only thing I'm somewhat sad about is Raise Spectre doesn't do anything for blue/yellow mobs. I was thinking I could get cool auras from them as well but nope

It seems the Raise Spectre exists only to find Necromancer style mobs that will curse shit for you.

Also I love how this build absolutely wrecks bosses. Piety on Cruel was down in like 20 seconds.

Raise spectre is great later on in the game (stygian revenants are amazing) but the problem with that skill is that if the spectres die, it's a big hassle to resummon them.

On the topic of crafting - after reading the reddit thread I kinda rushed home today and crafted two weapons

(Standard)
6-link staff: 10 ex
Regal + scour + transmute ~maybe 3 ex
Elreon crafting, cata mod, vagan mod: 3 ex, 5 blessed
1 ex for +1 all gems
Total cost: 17 ex for a +3 srs staff with 6 links, which the lowest for sale was at ~30+ chaos and they had shit stats. Mine is perfectly clean with 4 open slots. GOOD GAME.

Also decided to craft a +3 poison arrow bow. Bought a 6 sock maraketh (movement speed and nice attack speed) for 4 fusings (wtf) and managed to regal a suffix on my first try. 1 ex for crafting mod, 1 ex for +1 gems and about 20 alts + 15 fusings to make it 5 link. Total cost of a 5 link +3 bow with added 13% attack speed and 30% to a resist: 2 ex. Just amazingly crazy. I am not really playing PoE atm so I mainly did this to have some fun weapons to play with on standard later. Definitely recommend doing it before GGG changes it (if they want to do that)

TIL you can use currency items to upgrade strongboxes found in the wild. It makes sense it just never occurred to me.

Funny that it took so long for someone to figure it out, but you can use the master mods "cannot change prefixes/suffixes" to actually lock all prefixes or suffixes on an item and wipe the rest with a scouring. This can be done on a tyranical prefix for example to get the right suffixes and resetting to tyranical whenever you don't get it.

Anyone in either league have an unid's Shavronne's or Doedre's unique? My last challenge to get 8/8 and wanted to double check before buying at wild prices. Shavs pace would work fine.

So it seems like I joined PoE just in time to learn that the economy is more fucked up than the US's?

Its like an MMO, first ones to hit the level 82 content and farm Atziri are going to be rich. There are many ways though including crafting and flipping, so many that you could probably teach an economics class on the PoE economy.

The recent economic shit released by the #1 neckbeard crew really have no impact on the vast majority of PoE players. People that A) have the play time, B) the inclination, and C) the ability to play in the top 1 percentile are likely already doing so -- anyone rabbling about this are just people who like to rabble about the "elite keeping the little man down." As if exalts being 20% more expensive due to covert crafting techniques really impacts a guy who plays an hour or two a day. He wasn't going to be buying the big-ticket items anyway.

Running a RF/Flame Surge build. Not the strongest, by far, I'm sure, but it's fun. Anything that doesn't melt just being near me gets hit hard.

But haven't they driven chaos:ex prices up to a a point where normal players can't even afford to trade in exalts?

Not sure what the going rate of e:c is right now but in past leagues 1 ex:50c was standard. Assuming its 1:70 right now (not sure, stopped playing), that's kinda a drag but kill rate as a whole has likely gone up. I amassed about 50 pure exalts in a month on Warbands, with most of my profit coming from chaos/regal/alts... most valuable drop being 40c. Just getting an hour or two of maps in a day, sort out stash, and jump into trade chat for a few minutes to snag an exalt when you have enough currency. 50 ex is enough to do any content in the game.

All of this being said: normal players don't trade in exalts anyway. The huge majority of the playerbase rarely trades and they definitely aren't gunning for big-dick exalt items. You can clear everything in this game with super budget builds and gear.

Last note: gear inflation on the softcore side is a huge huge perk in favor of the "normal player". After a month, you can snag insanely powerful gear for pennies since everything is so inflated. Give any reasonably experienced PoE player 50-100c and he can equip 5+ builds easily.
