Yea, this league is wacky. But this is likely two new factors combined: exalts being more usable by the "average man" and chaos being more easily farmed given the inevitable power creep.
My point is that most people really just want to kill shit and experiment with different builds. There is a lot of content to consume even for a solo self-found player. Add in some minimal trading (using chaos) and you can do pretty much anything you want. If it takes 1-2 months for me (not a true vet but not a newb) to farm up 50 ex, then that isn't too bad. Even a newb interested to learn how to trade and determined enough will get his GG-exalt item in a reasonable time frame (1-3 months). A 6L Shavronne's Wrapping selling at 16ex. Easily done.
I'm curious what the exchange rate for fusing to exalt is. Farming alts/jewelers/fusing is easy for everyone to do and the demand for fusing ought to be intact. Hint: this is why you see insane spam on trade chat trying to trade 1c to 2f. When I stopped playing Warbands, 105f = 1 exalt while 63c = 1 exalt.
I stopped leveling my cyclone marauder for now and started a Tornado shot ranger. I'll get back to my marauder once I'm doing high level maps with my ranger. The movement for cyclone can be annoying at times. You get stuck between objects and if you activate the skill with your mouse at max distance you will continue to spin until you reach that location. Therefore you can't stop in mid spin which is annoying and you have to use the skill in proximity of your character. Tornado shot build is awesome and probably the fastest map clearing build I have yet to see. I'm using Neversink's guide which is very detailed and breaks down everything. With the build you should be able to do maps and even uber Atrizi. I'm ripping through the levels like its nothing. Use split shot to spread my curses and mow the trash down with tornado shot. For single target I use frenzy skill and tornado shot. Only thing I'm lacking is resists and running Hatred and Herald of Ash auras but like to add Herald of Ice but I'm lacking the mana for all three of them. I can see myself using this build for quite some time. I was never a fan of the ranger class in this game but I'm loving this build. The clear speed is unreal.
They're quadrupling drop rates on T1 uniques (shavs, mj?lner etc) (400% increase) in the patch that comes out on thursday, to make them a bit more available to players. I very much enjoy this change even though it means my shavs on standard will lose value, I want to be able to use these items in temp leagues and I think I'll be able to splurge my currency and buy a shavs for my upcoming aura supporter
I am very much enjoying the game still! I played a week of D3 but even with all the new improvements it just didn't have any staying power for me past that
In PoE however, I managed to buy a shav's and some other neat gear and made myself an aura support / tricurser. AMAZING, first time ever I've gotten to do the very very very top % type of maps where every map you roll ambush and altspam boxes etc. The exp is insane compared to slowly grinding 74-77s or whatever I could get ahold on. Managed to level my character from 74 to 93 in like 4 days
They announced a new 1 month league which will be a flashback / warbands / tempest thingy starting in a couple of weeks. I can't wait to play it and I'm thinking of doing aura support again since it's so freaking easy to get into groups and everyone loves you
Essentially I use Alpha's howl, Prism Guardian to reduce mana reserved as much as possible, and then Shavronne's Wrappings with Blood magic keystone to reserve everything on life. I deal absolutely no damage whatsoever but I can bring 10 auras and 3 curses (4 if I had managed to 6-link my chest, but 3 is enough for sure). I have superior movement with whirling blades, flame dash and phase run and now that I bought the Steppan Eard boots I am immune to chaos degen which was really annoying previously
As the 1 month starts I obviously won't have access to all these goodies, so I'll do my best to scrounge up some currency so that I can buy a shav's asap. We'll see how it goes
I've tried getting into PoE a couple of times, and playing on Warbands the last time was the most fun so far. Ended up getting boring around 80'ish, though, so I think I'll roll up in the hardcore 1-month league. To all the PoE-vets here; what would be a solid (not necessarily best; but a solid!) build for a person who mostly solos on their first league character? I've been thinking about doing a Poison Arrow build of some kind.
Poison arrow is great but you can't start off with it. I would 100% make a dedicated flame / incinerate totem character first as it'ls very strong with low investment of currency and gear, and it will take you far. Then if you feel like making a secondary character, you can take some of what you made with the flame totem character pretty much.
For the 1 month league, I am leaning towards a support again but I might also just go 100% incinerate as it's really strong for building up currency
2.0.4 Patch Notes (To be deployed Oct. 1st when the Warbands/Tempest leagues end)
Version 2.0.4
Content/Features:
Added 13 new Divination Cards.
Added support for the October one-month events.
Added a sixth wing to The Hall of Grandmasters.
Your active pet is now retained between sessions. You only need to summon it once and it'll be automatically summoned for that character in the future. To unsummon your pet, click the new button above the microtransaction stash.
The largest level variation has been removed from the Twilight Strand. We plan to improve all variations of this area in the future, but have removed the much larger one for the time being to keep its size consistent for fairness in races.
Map Changes:
Map drops have been increased across the board. The chance of finding higher level maps has been increased by a larger amount.
The monster damage in the lower 80% of maps has been reduced (most notably in the lower maps).
The icon art for maps now indicates (via the colour of the symbol) whether the low, medium or high set of map mods is available to that item.
Experience gained by running the highest tiers of maps has been reduced.
Maps now indicate what tier they are, rather than what level they are. Tier 1 maps are level 68 and tier 15 maps are level 82. Old (pre-2.0.0) maps range in level from 66 to 78. The actual level is still shown in the area information at the top right of the overlay map screen.
Balance:
The damage dealt by many Act 4 monsters has been reduced to bring them more in-line with other monsters. This affects not only their appearance in the normal game but also in end-game Maps (and the Endless Ledge). Some monsters have received a larger reduction in damage than others (for example, Rakango Tails).
The Onslaught mod from Zana's crafting bench no longer grants additional movement speed to monsters (It still grants the 20% from onslaught, just no extra movement speed). Due to this, the Increased Item Quantity granted by the Zana mod has been reduced from 40% to 30%.
Monsters can no longer be touched by multiple Tormented Spirits. Rare and Unique monsters can still be possessed by more than one Spirit.
The rate of spawning Warbands has been increased. It's now up to twice as high in some cases (such as leaders and Chaos Warbands).
Bug Fixes:
Fixed a client and instance crash related to Cyclone.
Fixed a bug where Malachai's skills wouldn't behave correctly when he had too much increased attack or cast speed.
Fixed some cases of strongboxes spawning in inaccessible locations.
Fixed a bug where some monsters (such as Brinerot Warband members) which were supposed to deal lightning damage were dealing fire damage with one of their skills.
Fixed a bug where Shrines couldn't spawn in the Upper Prison.
Fixed bugs related to purchasing stackable items from the vendor, where it sometimes failed to merge them into existing partial stacks in your inventory.
We expect to deploy this patch in two days, when the challenge leagues end. That's Friday, NZ time.
The following change has been delayed until next week because it hasn't yet passed quality assurance:
Ground Effects in Maps are now handled in a more efficient way, in order to reduce lockstep stuttering and disconnections.

Yeah I like 1month stuff a lot more, and the flashback stuff sounds fun. However this time I'm gonna be playing SC as I feel HC is gonna be a shitfest with all the league mods at the same time(onslaught devourer packs and shit like that) and I really don't want to play one of the few builds that can stack 200+%life+end charges+block+armor and still do damage. I generally play HC, I think that's the first char I'm gonna play on SC past normal, see how it goes, maybe I'll end up completing all the challenges without a death anyway, at least I'm going to try to.

Same mentality I am going with this round. Ive done all the challenge leagues with prizes and gotten the past HC armor sets but with this one being either league I am just going to take the low hanging fruit.
Tempest challenges weren't bad but they were time consuming to go all the way, this should be much easier looking at the list.
