Don't forget barrage! I agree that it's generally implemented ok outside of poison duration being a noob trap. But I'd hate to see them balance it by nerfing blade flurry, molten strike, and barrage. There's a few other issues like Assassin basically being the only suitable ascendancy for poison.

I like the machine gun aspect of a quill rain poison build, but definitely won't be league starting with it. Requires too many uniques to even feel alright. Going Pathfinder Wander or Scion Reave/Blade Flurry, pending any huge rebalances.

My new league starter is Slayer/Raider Molten Strike Scion with White Wind, Hyrri's Ire, Atziri's Step. All 1c uniques, over a million DPS on bosses alongside dodge cap, 56% spell dodge, 30k evasion, Slayer leech, >80% move speed. Scion also enables getting MoM and EO for very few points.

So I'm thinking of trying out for thr nrxt league a scorching ray whispering ice berserker. Any of you ever do a whispering ice before?

Well, also need to consider. DoT needs to have some advantage over direct damage. As DD itself is inherently superior, like ranged is inherently superior to melee.
This advantage can come in many forms.(various games make various uses.) DoT either does more damage over time inherently. DoT applies secondary effects, like snares. DoT proliferates. DoT ignores armor/resists. DoT ignores reflect and on hit effects.

Here in PoE, dot ignores reflects and on hit(although the hit that applied it does not.) They do not ignore armor/resist. They do not inherently proliferate, however several are easily modded to do so. Most do not apply secondary effects, but scorching ray, and essdrain do. I do not think any currently deal more damage innately.

The nerfs to proliferation, aoe, and reflect is also a part of the DoT problem.

Whispering ice is fun. I am not sure its a league starter. nor, how badly AoE nerf hit it. Whispering ice itself is fairly common, so cheap to get early. The int stacking needed to make it excel is a bit more work. Spell cascade should work with it, but the Cast on cast setup you are suggesting might be tight for it. And Scorching ray gains nothing from it.

They do not ignore armor/resist.

Dots will ignore armor since armor only protects against physical hit damage. Phys% reduction will reduce bleed dot damage, but not armor.

Scorching Ray + Whispering Ice with full fire conversion would work I think...I'm not sure about Marauder as a good class for it, though, but I've seen a couple builds like it so maybe *shrug*.

LOL, a channeled skill with 8k ES, zero secondary defenses, and 10% increased damage taken. There are people good enough at the game to make this work but it's probably not any of us. I mean you can get to level 90 softcore dying 3-4 times per level but you're not getting much farther past that.

Lvl 90 is all I ever shoot for anyhow. And I only play softcore too. And I was looking at the life one too. I've never liked es builds or vaal pact.

All aboard the hype train.

I've been thinking that I might be taking a break from PoE, but damn if it doesn't look cool. I wonder how annoying the capture mechanic is going to be, since every endgame build basically oneshots anything that isn't a map boss.

At least it's not an attempt at doing Breach again. All ascendancy classes getting updated sounds good too.

Shouldn't be a big deal. I mean doing masters single target works, right, right? Lol

The ascendancy change could be nice.

Path of Exile: Bestiary Brings Beast Hunting, New Gems, and a Giant Class Revamp

In the Bestiary League, you’ll venture far and wide to capture beasts of different categories and tiers. There are around 250 different regular beasts and 40 legendary beasts, some of which are more rare than others. To capture a beast, you’ll want to weaken it and then throw a net to hold it in place.

After a couple of seconds, you’ll know whether or not the capture was successful. If it succeeds, Einhar Frey, a new NPC in the Bestiary League, will appear from a portal to transport the beast back to your menagerie. (Your menagerie is a private area where you can invite friends, and it has themed areas for all of the different beasts you’ve captured.) If it fails, the beast will be freed and become enraged.

Yeah I was going to take a break this league as well, but maybe not?

Ascendancy stuff.

With this class revamp, less popular classes will be receiving buffs, and Grinding Gear has worked to make sure each class has their own unique benefit.

For example, Berserkers will be receiving rage. You gain rage when you kill an enemy, and you have a chance to gain rage when you hit a rare or unique enemy. Your rage caps at 100, and you lose 1 rage every 0.5 seconds if you have not been hit or gained rage recently. With rage, you’ll receive increased attack damage, increased attack speed, and increased movement speed, in addition to having to balance a loss of maximum life per second.
