Mathil has a "guide" on that type of build. Looks powerful for this type of content, just like ED/Contagion. But also like ED/Contagion, it's the 1->2 setup for every pack. May sound trivial just reading, but it's more annoying than it seems and animation canceling has made it even worse. Contagion -> ED -> Movement Skill. Oops, in your haste to be efficient, you early canceled your ED and you're now movement skilling through a pack of mobs that are only being tickled by your Contagion or Frostbolts. Honorable mention for Norwooding the pack with your slow moving ED projectile.

I dont like mathils shit because it always assumes like everyone has got 50 ex of shit laying around or just buying/rolling the shit he has. This is also compounded by the further in a league he is, the more expensive his builds become. I tried a few of his builds in the past and always ran into a gear wall. Plus we dont play this shti 8hrs a day either, like he does. And this game the play time is directly proportional to your wealth. Also there is the Mathil shit in general, in that whatever build you try to play like him, the shit becomes more expensive anyway because there is another 5000 plebs trying the same fucking build.

So don't play exactly what he's playing at exactly the same time. Every so often, that means you can't play a build because it has a build-defining unique. Certainly a negative, but it doesn't really happen often enough to get that grouchy.

Next-level POE is being able to take someone else's build and translate it across the entire spectrum of currency and gear. Understanding what's core to the build and what's expensive fluff will help you tailor the build to your playstyle or if you want to play it at all.

That said, I can't remember the last time mathil made a build guide that required anywhere close to 50 ex. He goes through characters too fast to even invest that much most of the time.

Of course its an exaggeration on the 50 ex thing. And yeah the next level shit I aint got time for either. Thats basically living in this game for leagues and leagues to understand all this shit.

I think ill stick to the guides for cheap league starters and go from there.

The better way IMO to copy pasta builds form is the HCSSF dudes, which basically build as they go, like any pleb would. Also they make their builds not as dependent on gear which might or might not drop for them so they make their builds be more robust in the tree and skill rather than gear. Plus they always err on the side of survivability which is not a bad thing either. But even then, as the leagues go on, their builds become more and more expensive after investing 100s of hours into a league. Because they too have a good supply of awesome gear that dropped for them along the way. When they die, all their best shit goes bye bye, but their second rate shit they always have ample supply of.

Going for cast on crit flicker Scion w/ shock nova, then static strike (more chances to shock and dope for keeping fortify up) and inpulsa. Let's see how I do with another homebrew. Fotm builds are way too faceroll for me and rob me of theorycrafting and sense of accomplishment.

Help me out bros, I'm curious about the new shockwave support. I can't find much online where people have tested it out, and I'm having trouble figuring out if it's worth it or even if it's working correctly.

I'm using Earthquake, so I'm curious if shockwave only can proc off the initial hit, or the initial hit and the aftershock. Also, is it kind of like the shockwave attached to Sunder and can chain to enemies?

It seems like it would be strong, even if it's only proccing the initial hit, since I'm going for huge and relatively slow hitting damage, so it seems right up my alley. It FEELS like it might be working when I'm running around with it, but it's hard to tell exactly what's going on with all the crap blowing up in good ol' POE.

Anyone have any thoughts there?

Shockwave will proc on both the initial and aftershock hit. You should be seeing a red circle when you use it with EQ, that's the shockwave effect.

Legion is great. I dont miss synthesis a single bit and legion is just a small added boni to the game. You activate it, a shit ton of mobs, chests, sometimes unique mobs spawn and you slaughter them for good rewards. Very simple, but a sweet, sweet dopamin rush

Also it scales nicely. Your power creep reflects well in the amount of mobs you can kill.

Edit: Cant comment much on meele changes, but my friend does well with his build.

Night and Day to Synthesis. Also being able to play a melee that's not molten strike is good.

No problems with maps or anything as Zana's in every 2nd map it seems, they drop like candy, along with lots of currency and items.

There's a new item you can add to your gear that incubates drops, they drop nice items later.

It's well worth playing to get rid of the synthesis taste. I didn't want to play it but I'm glad that I made the decision to.

So I went Cyclone Berserker. Pretty fucking stupid. Only 3/4 ascendencies as I'm 86 and missing one trial. With all my shit up (50 rage, Berserk, flasks) I'm at like 1.2 million shaper DPS. Incredibly ridiculous. I've stacked melee range on most items I can as well. Whirling through at high speed blowing everything up instantly is great for Legion Monoliths. I'm about to go full retard and get Aspect of Carnage and Abyssus to get my shaper DPS up to about 1.7 million. The fact I basically have one sword I bought for 5 chaos (though I six-linked it in 20 fusings) and garbage rares makes melee seem OP as fuck right now. Blood and Sand, Dread Banner, and Pride just pumping up the dps. Berserker + Berserk is insane "FUCK YOUR FACE" synergy. Imagine getting Champion Adrenaline whenever you wanted on a button click and then being able to keep it up for 10 seconds. Amazing.

AH! I found it in PoB, it was in a funny spot. Holy shit, if PoB is right, Shockwave support essentially doubles the damage of initial hit AND the aftershock. So, if I'm looking at it right, if you have an initial hit of 100k, an aftershock of maybe 300k, THEN shockwave hits for 200k, all in rapid succession.

I wonder if PoB is accounting for the cooldown correctly for their DPS calculation, because the calc I'm seeing seems too high for a .72 sec cooldown... if it's right though, MOTHER OF GOD.

Yeah, a planned mini-patch they announced yesterday. Fixing some issues and adding progress icons for incubators (like gems that are about to level) so you can see when you're going to get an item pop.
