It does kinda depend on when they release them, 3.9 was kinda "early" so it was tuesday in the US(middle of the night in europe), but if they're late with them it can be late/past midnight even in the US(morning in EU). Since it's not a major patch though yeah you're right probably will be tuesday for the US(still probably 2-4AM for me though).

Hopefully no major spectre/ necro nerfs so I don't have to think about a starter.

ditto.

But it's too much to hope for, they're going to break something. probably the baron will be ground into dust. If it doesn't, I will go king of all summoner again, if it does, i'm thinking about a doublestrike build similar to mathil's top ranking.

They confirmed two components to strength stat stacking, Geoffri's and Shaper's Touch, were on the chopping block. Neon also said he doesn't like how cheaply minion builds get dps.

Yeah expect skeletons to get hit hard in particular.

league seems similar to breach/legion, might just go ED/cont.

I mean, if it's just those two, the build barely gets touched, because you can easily replace Geoffri's with a Saqawal's, and the loss of Shapers Touch would be a good chunk of ES, but wouldn't make a huge difference in the grand scheme of things for baron summoner. in addition to those two things, my prediction is still zombie damage from the gem will probably get nerfed and they will mutilate The Baron.

Did that build this past league. And as someone that hasn't enjoyed melee in PoE, it was pretty awesome.

They mentionned there's summoners nerfs too earlier in the podcast, and near the end they confirmed they were nerfing HoAg too. I'd expect a fair amount of nerfs across the board, summoners are too powerful.

Well I'm not going to make it to the end game for this season, I just started like 2 weeks ago as a new player. I'm apparently slow as fuck since I've put around 40 hours and only 60 and Act 8. Mind you since it's my first time, I have done every quest, side quest, explored every map fully, and read every single bit of text.

I went in mostly blind so made some mistakes like neglecting survivability, I switched a few points from DPS to health, regen etc...and new points went into stuff to survive, it's a bit better though.

I'm going to go for a more tanky build for 3.10 with a Juggernaut build. I don't mind being a bit slower in favor of tankier.

It took me like 4 attempts over the years to finally get into this game, managed it because of a friend playing with me which made it more interesting, until we reached a point around 30 or so where I feel the game switches it up a bit and becomes a lot more fun.

I'm really looking forward to 3.10 and start a new season at the beginning.

Any general tips for starting a new season?

Yeah even a slow guy like myself hits maps in 12-16 hours.

New Season:

Pick a meta build as a starter. Switch to your "desired build" once you establish a baseline income, gear and hideout.

Don't explore all corners of the zones. Eventually you will learn the "ideal" or more efficient path through the game.

Probably avoid the league effects until mapping or late in the Acts if you are looking for more efficient play - the league effects are typically not designed well for leveling.

Don't pick up everything and port to town to sell every 10 mins. Eventually you learn what is good and not good to pick up through the levels and in maps.

Continue to learn. At some point the game just "connects" if you like it and continue to want to play.

Don't expect to kill all the endgame stuff all the time. Progress to the point of frustration but not beyond.

Nerfing HoAg is incredibly dumb, it requires a shitload of investment to make it very good already. The skill has already been nerfed hard 3-4x and still they are not happy.

If it gets nerfed much it just won't be viable for endgame at all on any build.

The poe.ninja heatmap shows that Gravepact is the only commonly taken offensive minion cluster. Perhaps they're in a bad state with HoAG, but you can at least agree it's not good to have such little amount of offensive passive investment for any build.

That is true but you need cold iron points, level 21 gems and level 4 empower and +2 supports etc to make up for the fact that you only take one minion node (ideally). Even then you are looking at a mediocre clear speed alongside not great bossing.

But you can play it as whatever you want pretty much.

EE, Mathil, Ziz, and a couple others will do streams after patch notes for starter builds.

I'm personally leaning towards shadow > blade vortex into Cospris coc spin.

Do you even know what you are talking about? It requires no investment to make it very good which is why it needs nerfing. Its popular as a starter in HC because you can play it as a 4L Jugg with almost no investment in minion nodes on the tree, you can go 100% defense and it will go through red maps/bosses like Shaper, Elder, Sirius, etc, easily. The only reason not to play Agony right now is its clear speed is meh. The skill itself scales in a manner which trivializes the game, it is probably the most called for nerf of any were going to get.

Go play a 4 link and try uber elder or Sirus, that isn't fucking happening. It's not been that good since Delve.

You don't invest in the tree you invest in gear for it if you play it as jugg. Go try a level 20 HoAg with 5 supports in red maps, it's fucking shite. You need the crawler to be level 30+ on a jugg. Why'd you think everyone uses cold iron points.

Hardly anyone plays hoag in HC it's a whopping 6% of the total players and most of those fuckers are under 90.

Maybe you should actually play it in 2020.

I've tried to tell myself to go with something tried and tested. But now i want to do a Mana Hiero BV.
I played some poe the last few days and realized i don't really enjoy the 2 button playstyle of say mines or ED. In addition it also seems to me that BV should be mechanically better for delerium because you can have mobs "spawning" near you so something with a duration +aoe should counter some of that whereas ED might have to cast twice because you have mobs spawning after you already cleared a given area. Ofcourse if the new mana skills seem underwhelming i'll reasess the hiero part atleast.

Also hard to tell how mana skills/archmage support will play with say MoM which seems like something you'd want if you stack mana but maybe thats impossible, in which case a CI variant looks like it could be better. And then theres indigon i wonder if thats impossible to use with archmage. (on the topic of indigon, can it count several increments of 200 mana from 1 action? if you spend 1k mana from 1 skill will you get 25x5=125 more spellpower or would that for some reason only be counted once? And if you spend 200 mana every 3 seconds (aka recently) will it add up after 9 seconds you have 100% spellpower or does it only remember the last 4 seconds?)

On another not, Glad (anything with big hp% corpse explosions really) should be very good this league because delerium will scale monster HP alot alot so thats a consideration too.

Have you tried BV? If you didn't like mines and ED, you might not like BV either. Not saying they're the same, but the maintenance style of BV is incongruous with "kill pack, find pack" playstyle.

I'll admit I don't like mines for the very same reason. You might want to consider Toxic Rain or OoS/SB instead.

I disagree. Granted, they might be sliiiightly too powerful. However, the real problem is that melee is utter dogshit.
Na they are. Mind you they're not more powerful than other classes, that's not what the devs meant(since they explained a bit). They are just at a similar power level as many other builds, while requiring way less investment and that's the problem they have with it. A lot of summoner builds just don't need to invest too much into gear and still get very good results. The problem is the curve, not really the top end.

It's the same issue they had with agony, basically you can make characters that focus way too much on defenses, and still get good damage. And that's a bit of an issue when you compare to say melee, where you NEED the defenses, but if you focus too much on them you do garbage damage unless you invest godly amounts of currency into your gear. But at the same time you can have a 5ex cyclone spirit offering spamming skeleton summoner doing the same damage as a 30ex melee while having more defenses.

On the Agony builds, yes they need gear investment, but let's not exagerate on how much gear they need either. Cold Iron Point is a joke that's worth like 5-10c. Dual wield them and you've already cleared a fair bit of your agony damage requirements, for virtually nothing. Yes you also need an empower and that's expensive but pretty much any gem scaling build is going to want an empower eventually, you start with a 3 and eventually farm a 4 when they drop in price. And when you can invest like 20-30ex in gear and then completely skip 90% of the damage nodes on the tree, it's a bit of a problem regardless. Most other builds have to do both, invest in gear AND invest in the tree for damage.

And melee being shit doesn't mean you shouldn't nerf other stuff, that's bad reasoning. And melee issues aren't really performance, there's a bunch of melee builds which perform well/outperforms everything else, it's both the amount of investment and the mechanical issues with map clear speed from being melee(lower range/aoe). Impale builds completely shit on basically everything else damage wise especially at the top end, Saviour added a fair bit of endgame viability and generally speaking a bunch of skills can be used very efficiently endgame with enough investment, it's just costly as fuck to make work as efficiently as other stuff like say mines, with not really any advantage.
