for the first 5 palaces just assume you will not do any of them in 1 day (technically you ALWAYS need at least 2 days), i think i took 5 seperate trips for the first or second one. its really no big deal to stop at a safe room and come back another day and the game is totally setup to play that way. remember, once you clear a palace its gone forever so its actually a good idea to only finish near the deadline, until then you can farm palaces for XP/items/cash just by teleporting from a safe room to the entrance and back, all the trash mobs respawn once you teleport away and back. There is no extra bonus or anything for clearing a palace early, you don't get to do anything you wouldn't do if it was still up.

the weird thing about the game to me is how it feels like there should be a way to stealth past everything but its literally impossible due to the shitty movement in stealth, you literally cannot see what the fuck is going on when you are hiding in a corner and 90% of the time its impossible to "move forward" while hiding. the stealth system in persona dungeons is just the absolute worst.

also last day to get the amazon prime discount on the Persona 5 CE
Amazon.com: Persona 5 - PlayStation 4 "Take Your Heart" Premium Edition: Sega of America Inc: Video Games

seems like a shitty CE though, everyone says the bag sucks but the plushy is nice. Pretty sure it'll be on sale for $30-40 in a few months though, they seem to have way overproduced it.

Also, it's generally a bad idea to go into mementos between when you beat a palace and when the person confesses their shit. The next floor doesn't open up until after that (not when you beat the palace), and everything there will be much lower level than the palace you just beat.

And btw, the mementos floor that opens up after the third palace guys confession has all the materials needed to make the eternal lockpick

With respect to the combat, the first dungeon (so far for me at least) was the "hardest" in the sense that you'll likely need to exit at least once to recuperate. The second dungeon has a forced exit about half way through iirc that makes it easier to not have to leave just because of your low sp. By the third dungeon you can have SP adhesives which make SP management almost trivial

Kaguya is easily the best of all the DLC personas if you're into that sort of thing. Make sure you use plain Kaguya and not Kaguya Picaro if you buy her. The Picaro version gives up wind resist in exchange for upgrading Counter to High Counter, and worse stats because there's 9 extra levels you can't control yourself. Counter/High Counter is the first thing you'll dump once you fill up all 8 slots anyway.

Never played a Persona game before. I can't say I've really spent time playing JRPGs either. I enjoy anime (the better ones) so there is that at least. That said, it has been damn near impossible to get a feel for this game from screenshots, reviews, and early-game gameplay videos.

I still have no idea what to expect from this game, but the buzz about it has been so freakishly positive that it is impossible to ignore.

Spending 50-60% of a 100+ hour game going to High School and picking up part time jobs? Never in a million years would I have thought I'd go for game like that.

...but I have. I start it tonight. I don't recall ever experiencing such a bizarre and powerful combination of apprehension and excitement going into a game before. I really hope it lives up to the hype.

Honestly, it was a choice between Persona 5 or Neir Automata......in the end I chose this one for a change of pace.....been hitting the Action games pretty hard lately, and a turn-based game sounds like a damn good way to change things up. Fuck Tons of amazing action games these days though. Great, great time to be a gamer - I still have Horzon Zero Dawn to look forward to as well.

Time to party.

I went back to P4 Golden before I buy this. I'm about to beat P4G and I have one question about P5. Is there any faggotry on the level of Teddie in this one? Holy shit that character...

Blah got my first game over from my MC getting chain criticals by a Rampage. I forgot dying to AOE can be so frustrating in this game.

Thankfully no. The mascot character in P5 is much less annoying than Teddy.

I checked my logged game time and am almost at 20 hours and just started the 2nd Palace.

Holy hannah. About 90-100 hours at this rate?

i was at 110 hours when i finished my first play through but i spent a good 10 hours or so grinding the reaper to hit level 99 (which was pretty pointless in the first play through tbh)

you have to do NG+ once to get the plat trophy, if you want it

My save is at about 180 hours now.

But that counts all the time I've suspended the game instead of closing it first before putting the PS4 to sleep.

And yeah, Teddie is my most hated video game character of all time. Morgana is one of the better characters in the series though. I see people complaining about him making you go to sleep instead of doing whatever, but I have to assume those people have never played Persona before. When story progression takes charge there's always going to be something that prevents you from doing other stuff, and it might as well be the cat instead of a voice in your head.

So as I sink more time into it (I am still having a lot of fun) does it have a good ending story wise?

Yeah there are only 8 palaces total so you're near the end. I'd just take a week break, its easy to grind too much in the game but its fun going back after a few days away.

It helps to treat Ryuji as the downs kid with retard strength, then everything that comes out of his mouth makes more sense

Depends on what "ending" you go for, there is 3 endings, the real ending is worth it.

Ah shit. I hate when they do this. I only want one ending. A good one. With a 90 hour plus game I will never replay this.

Light spoilers:
Then just make sure to not take a very stupid option after one of the palaces. (6th I think? Casino one) And make sure you don't stop before the story makes you during the stuff after the following palace. (The Ship) - if you're afraid you're going to screw it up somehow - make backup saves around 11/18 and 11/23 if my memory serves me right on things (a couple days before each potential finale)

Also with the three real endings (non-game loss ones - there are a few special game loss ones apparently too) I know they basically force you to make a hard save ("OMG! BIG STUFF HAPPENING IN A SEC, YOU PROBABLY WANT TO SAVE!" message with a Y/N toggle) before you make the decision that can result in Ending #1, I forget if it did similar for Ending #2 however, and then the True Ending obviously doesn't really need one. Ending #1 is around mid Nov, Ending #2 is Xmas day, True Ending is into the next year some.

They're all "cumulative" endings anyhow though hinged off a single decision that immediately impacts the game - so its not like some games where you've got to play all the way through to see all the endings. You could easily save, see an ending, reload - replay about 2-15 min of stuff and be working on the next ending.

To my knowledge only two things require an actual replay - one "secret boss" (that's not remotely secret to anyone who played P3/4 since it follows the same concept as their secret bosses) and creating one final persona, Satanael. Everything else can be done in a single playthrough including seeing all the endings (with some small save reloads as stated above).
