It certainly can't be applied universally. Too many specific examples can go either way. I mean if you are truly that it in the open, you are likely screwed if they have the drop and started in cover.
Perhaps going into a broader topic but i was thinking.....
In recent games with Josh, had a couple times where i was much happier holding fire and not housing down passing cars, skipping small towns where we knew someone was for sure rather than trying to win a siege etc
Vs gotten annoyed when someone lights up in squad play someone 100 meter out or so when group isn't geared to all be able to fight at medium+ range (early game missing weapons or ammo). Often this turns into sure maybe you down a guy but being far enough out they can crawl and get revived and you just lost suprise.
Usually when i have this problem it's when we find a group looting an area so usually we have the weaker cover or if nothing else, rest of squad is just as suprised as you start shooting before everyone gets set. I've done it myself in the past. And obvious exceptions like whole group in open before they get to cover or you know they have spotted you.
Maybe some of that is just me coming from playing some even heavier team play games that rely on being "tactical". I do wish this game would add some more tools like on screen marking or something a bit better than trying to use made market to highlight a point.
