To be honest Sony's last generation isn't even in the same league when it comes to monumental fuck ups.

Unlike Microsoft's, Sony's fuckups where well spirited if you will: the console was too expensive and difficult to program, but it was because they wanted to be at the bleeding edge and gambled with the Cell and BluRay. Also, saying 'you'll want to work more to afford one' is what happens when a tech-enthusiast engineer forgets he is not in marketing. It was an idiotic thing to say, but I suspect he was being honest, which is at least refreshing when compared to formatted promo-babble.

So I've never bought a console on release date, I usually wait a year or two for games to actually come out/price to drop and mostly because PS3/360 releases were just people buying up 10 consoles so they could ebay them. Is that same shit gonna happen this time? I'm gonna snag a ps4 cause if someone is gonna watch me jerk it, they better be paying.
I'm not super interested on getting one on release date but am I gonna be stuck waiting 6 months before they get restocked?

Yeah a lot of people will flip them, even your brethren on this very forum. Not sure what the restock will be, but if they really do hold 90% of the market on release then it could be awhile. I remember how long I had to wait for a wii.

Honestly, if the PS4 does not support NTFS formatted external storage devices they can kiss my ass. The fact that the PS3 still does not is a disgrace. Tired of having to split up my HP rips to play them on a Playstation.

I had 3 friends that camped out in front of a Circuit City for the PS3 launch. They each had dreams of selling theirs for $2500+ and making a nice profit. Unfortunately for them so did everyone else that got a PS3 at launch. They were fucking miserable during the 3 days and then had to watch the proverbial bubble pop. I think one of my buddies had to sell his for face value just to get his money back. Many lulz were had at their expense.
When the PS2 came out my friend was an assistant manager at a gamestop. I bribed the manager there with a quarter bag of chronic to let me have a PS2 at launch (didn't have a pre-order). I walked in the back door at 9pm while there was a line out front for the midnight release and I was home 30 minutes later playing while everyone was still in line. They ended up telling some poor bastard that his didn't arrive because of a shipping screw up. Feels good to be a gangster =)

Funny thing during the Wii launch. I was in Iraq on a shit FOB (Kalsu) and there was a stack of Wiis at the PX. I bought one and mailed it home to my kids for Christmas. Dad was the fucking man that year cuz you couldn't find that shit anywhere. Same story this year for the PS4, I'll be in Afghanistan so maybe I'll get lucky. If not, I'll just wait till I get back and there's more games etc.

Lol fucking Kalsu...had PS3s and 360's stacked at Warhorse when I was there, went to VBC for a week and went through their main PX and felt like I was walking through a god damn Gamestop.
I was lucky enough to get my pre-order bumped by Amazon to a release day version, may try to flip it if the market goes nuts but for some reason I just don't get the feeling that there is going to be that massive door-busting rush for this generation.

Does anyone know why Sony hasn't officially announced Launch Date yet, just to do futher face palm to Microsoft?
Probably want to keep Microsoft in the dark, and try to keep PS3 units moving before the release.
