The bigger cooling design might be to reduce sound rather than reduce temperature. The PS4 was a fucking noisy piece of shit and I believe I read someone say the PS5 was actually kinda silent. As I said, temperatures of that order don't actually matter, could be 75+ and it still wouldn't matter, PCs run at higher temperatures than that fine, generally locks happen only around 80-85° with theorical "maximum" around 90° but obviously you'd want cooler than that just to remove any potential risks(plus the obvious bump in temperature once people start playing during the summer if they don't have A/C, which is fairly common in a bunch of countries/with poorer people). Why would the PS5 simultaneously be the largest system (presumably to improve cooling) and the hottest running? Is it because they're getting sloppy seconds on yields that run hotter? Higher clocks than anyone has thought so far?
Definitely looking like this gen the best choice basically boils down to whichever ecosystem you prefer. I doubt Xbox games will look any noticeably better and I doubt PS games will load any noticeably faster.PS5 overclocks its GPU compared to xbox
PS5 - 8 core Zen 2 CPU 3.5ghz, GPU overclocks to 2.23ghz with 36 compute units estimated 10.28 TFlops
Series X - 8 core Zen 2 CPU 3.8 Ghz, GPU locked at 1.825ghz with 52 compute units, estimated 12.155 TFlops
So PS5 OC's its GPU a little more which may explain more heat. Really the two are basically identical, we'll see if the PS5 SSD is vastly superior (in a noticeable way) to series X, especially on third party games
In the LTT not-unboxing video of the Xbox, he comes away thinking it'll actually cool better on its side. The issue I have is that both consoles clearly were designed to be placed vertical and the airflow will be at least somewhat restricted by placing them flat. If you put them inside a cabinet it will be even worse.
I have a gaming PC easily better than either new console and still plenty of reasons to get an xbox. Gamepass games are sometimes console only, hooking my PC up to my TV isn't an option, and I vastly prefer my TV over my desktop for most games. PC HDR is still dogshit, and my surround system is about an order of magnitude better than my PC speaker setup, so the PC is really only for games where either M/KB or ultrawide monitor is an absolute must-have.I agree that at the end of the day, there isn‘t a huge gap between the two system that will make games on either system be significantly better.
It comes down to Gamepass vs PS5 exclusive.
Also if you have a good gaming PC theres no reason to get an Xbox, but still worth getting a PS5.
The intake is on the rear but also on the bottom, so laying on its side could produce better flow. Assuming you don't have that side flush against a wall like it would be standing up.I skimmed that since I never really cared for the dude's videos so maybe I just missed it, but I didn't hear any justification for that statement.
doesn't matter anyway, ps5 is so goddamn ugly, just put a $20 box fan next to itDumbass article needs to just make a god damn chart
XSeS estimated 47 °C/116 °F - peak 58 °C/136 °F
XSeX estimated 52 °C/125 °F - peak 62 °C/143 °F
PS5 estimated 55 °C/131 °F - peak 65 °C/149 °F
What does it being ugly have to do with anything?doesn't matter anyway, ps5 is so goddamn ugly, just put a $20 box fan next to it
and get your ghetto cool on
Well I'd say it's a big reason you ended up an incel, for starters. What does it being ugly have to do with anything?

Don't see why it'd ever be flush against a wall. I'd put it at the front edge of the shelf if it's on the side, or right in the center of the shelf if it's upright. My bigger concern, since the thing kind of resembles a weird PC case, is that it will be prone to getting a lot of dust inside it. Especially since MS has been known for using shitty thermal paste in the past. The intake is on the rear but also on the bottom, so laying on its side could produce better flow.
