Pointless With Kevin Pereira:

From a former host of G4's Attack of the Show. It's a relatively new podcast, so I'm not sure how to summarize its content, other than saying that it resembles the Joe Rogan Experience with a bit less talk of mushroom eating primates and tangents on how random wild life could fuck you up.
This is awesome, thanks for recommending. Big fan of this guy, thought he disappeared off the face of the earth. Listened to the one with his former two co-hosts and it was hilarious

The History of Rome*- Fucking amazing podcast about the History of Rome from the mythic beginning of Rome to the fall of the western Empire.
Yeah. That one is awesome.

Thanks for your suggestions. Got to check some of those out.

Other than The History of Rome, I'm mostly listening to gaming podcasts from time to time - especially GiantBomb and Gamers With Jobs, even though there are so many others I would like to follow
Such as anything resembling The History of Rome. It feels harder to find the time for podcasts when you actuallyhave tolisten and pay attention to get anything out of the show

History of Rome guy is going to have a new podcast, starting around sept.
....the next show is called Revolutions. I'm going to take 8-12 revolutions and cover them in 12-15 episode chunks. So if the History of Rome was a novel, this will be more like a collection of stories.

I'm still working on the final list, but I'm sure to cover: English, American, French, Haitian, 1848, Mexican, Russian, Chinese, Cuban.

Looking forward to Revolutions podcast.

I really wanted to like Neil Degrasse Tysons Startalk podcast but his co-hosts are a deal breaker for me. The point is to have a co-host, usually a comedian, to add some humor to the show. Unfortunately they kill the show for me. They constantly interrupt NGT and his guest will the most unfunny, lame jokes and shitty observations. NDT is one of the most interesting people on the planet and theses idiots he has co-host with him are completely unneeded and really detract from the show. #jimmiesrustled

Guntalk Podcast. A podcast of the nationally syndicated Tom Gresham's Guntalk on the radio. It's 3 hours each week and he normally interviews people from the firearms industry, both retail and manufacturers. Nice to see what is coming down the pipeline from the marketing people etc...

This American Life had a two parter about a high school in Chicago, I didn't end up finishing it. Jesus that was depressing. I got to the part about the boy who accidentally killed his little brother and gave up.

The Harper High School episodes were pretty depressing. All I could think after listening to those was that those teachers and administrators in those schools are heros. That sounds cheesy, but there's no way anyone stays in those jobs for their own self interest.

This American Life is almost always decent and they have a few episodes that are just flat awesome. My personal favorite was this:

The Invention of Money | This American Life

Kind of lame that it's $.99 to download the old episodes, but you can stream it for free on the website. This one blew my mind and I actually paid the money for it when I had already heard it before.

good job brain - if you like trivia/trival pursuit/bar trivia some of the cast is also from a related podcast
Good Job, Brain! Trivia Quiz Show Podcast - Blog

the geekbox
Podcasts | The Geekbox

they have associated podcasts like the comedy button, i don't find it all that funny, but i've gotten used to the cast so it's ok for 1hr of mindlessness (when you need white noise and not music)
they also have the comic conspiracy, if you like comics it's not bad, it's hosted by a real comic shop owner and employees, they seem too "DC" for me sometimes, but again whitenoise

i've recently been listening to
Spill.com: Podcasts

it's centered around movies and premieres they have a lot of weekly podcasts i believe 2 a week that focus on news (tech/geek/movie related) a spoiler/review podcast and a general movie one, again lots of good whitenoise

as an update to the roosterteeth podcast
http://roosterteeth.com/podcast/

they have split into 3 podcasts
the main one the rooster teeth podcast

the patch - seems like a bi-monthly podcast on games, or if a new hot topic game (like gta) comes out they have an episode

spoilercast - seems like it's barely monthly where they will talk and spoil either movie/video game/tvshow

The Giant Bombcast -Giant Bombcast - Giant Bombcast 09/24/2013 - Giant Bomb- Some of the industry's most experienced game journalists sit down for 2-3 hours every week and talk about whatever they want, plus video games. It's sometimes funny, often insightful, never stiff and unnatural.

It's just a bunch of adult dudes talking to their friends about vidya games, and they also happen to have a ton of experience and some of the best connections in the business.

http://amateurscientist.org/- Various comedy podcasts. Ask A Canadian is particularly good.

http://www.startalkradio.net/- Neil DeGrasse Tyson's radio show/podcast

http://www.skeptic.com/podcasts/monstertalk/- Talk about cryptozoology from a skeptical standpoint.

http://radio.seti.org/- The radio show from SETI, covers various science topics

http://www.astronomycast.com/- One of the best educational podcasts I've listened to. They go through astronomy topics, obviously. Huge back catalogue that's worth going through.

http://relprime.com/- Relatively Prime, covering various math-related stories (it was a short run, but I think the guy is trying to get funding to do more)

http://www.merseysideskeptics.org.uk/podcasts/- A british skeptical podcast

http://www.theskepticsguide.org/- Various science and skeptical topics discussed by an entertaining panel. (They also have a short, 5 minute podcast, but it hasn't been updated in a long time.)

And then some various atheist podcasts.

http://www.thethinkingatheist.com/home- Seth is one of my favorites.

http://freethoughtblogs.com/reasonabledoubts/- More in-depth on the philosophical arguments.

http://www.irreligiosophy.com- Another topical atheist podcast, recently relaunched after a previous host kinda fucked things up

I also listen to a few that have been posted already. Hardcore History, Cognitive Dissonance, Skeptoid.
Good stuff thanks

I am not an ufologist by any means but have always had an interest in all the various theories and what nots with it comes to the alien stuff. Two podcasts I love are below. These are not some George Noory crap but hosts who know their shit and are as skeptical as well as curious / interested about the subject. Some real good guests usually with the occasional nut job.

I didn't read this entire thread, so if they are duplicates, sorry.

Here's my list of weekly podcasts that I must listen to.

Bertcast's podcast- This is Comedian Bert Kreischer's podcast. I'm a big fan of Bert, and his podcast tends to be silly a lot. It makes my day go quicker.
Bill Burr's Monday Morning Podcast- Similar to Bert, Bill is a comedian. His podcast is typically just him alone ranting about things. He also played the red headed guy on Breaking Bad.
Mohr Stories- Another comedian, Jay Mohr. He never does a solo podcast, but a lot of them are very interesting anyway. He's married to Nikki Cox, and she randomly appears on different episodes. I really liked the first 20 or so the most. The rest are entertaining, but I laughed really hard at the first few.
SModcast- This is Kevin Smith's (the director of Clerks) founding podcast. He now has an entire network of them, but I stick to this one. He pretty much just does pot talk in these. Ever since he finished Zach & Miri make a Porno, that is. Seth Rogan got him smoking again, and he does it a LOT now. Really odd ball shit, and a lot of it is silly.
Girl on Guy with Aisha Tyler- Aisha is the voice of Lana on Archer. She's another comedian, but she's a video game nerd also. She does very in depth interviews with various people. She actually did one with one of the faces of IGN a week ago. It was interesting.
The Doug Stanhope Podcast- He does these VERY few and far between. Like months apart, typically. Doug is an unusual guy, so I go out of my way to listen to them.

Ok, those are the podcasts that I listen to every time I can. I used to have The Bryan Callen Show and Joe Rogan Experience, but I've since cut them out. Joe does entirely too many LONG podcasts, and a lot of Bryan's were becoming very dull. It's typically the guests he would have. Writers of some book of poems or some other thing that I personally really don't care about. I did, however, enjoy all of the ones with his Father. He was a president of like Capital One or Chase. Really really knowledgeable about the banking world, which was interesting to listen to.

Out of curiosity, did anyone else support the Carolla podcast defense fund? I'm wondering if anyone has received the posters etc. Perhaps 5-6 weeks ago I saw an update on the site stating they'd be shipping them out soon but that post disappeared.

I sent some money to it but I'm pretty sure I said don't send the prizes since I don't have any use for some posters and t-shirts and shit like that.
