Wth you live Quineloe? Exeggutor was the my first great pokemon and I beat the shit out of gyms with him. After my Dragonite he's still the best tbh but I have 3 of them battle ready.

I live in fucking Pidgey Town. Let me put it this way, I am fine with hatching an Eevee from a tenner. Because I don't even have enough candy to power up my only strong Pokemon all the way, a Vaporeon.

A bunch of mons that are considered common I've seen like once or twice. I hatched two Geodudes and can't evolve them yet because I haven't found enough to make it 25.
I caught my 4th Ekans today.
I'm walking a bellsprout because I can't find enough to get that Victreebell evolution going. Eggxecute I've caught a total of three, and two of those were outside Germany on vacation.

or just look at what I have at level 24, since I figured out today how to take a screenshot on android

If only. When it's not icy, it's a giant slushy mess. Either way unfit for cycling. If Niantic is smart they'll come up with something so that 2/3rds of the country (world?) isn't effectively locked out of the game for 2-4 months

Quineloe Quineloe don't power up a magmar, you'll regret it. in a few levels, you'll likely catch or hatch another that's higher anyways. I've only powered up vaporeons and my 1 snarlax and don't regret it. the mons that matter, you'll get higher level ones along the way. Eggecutes, bugs, eevees, all come as you play.

and w/ the bonus to exp w/ using a lower CP pokemon than the one attacking, you'll often be looking for a lower level one anyways. when i see a fire pokemon in a gym, i get one of my lower vaporeons and get 500+ exp in 1 attack, vs 100 if i use my strongest. i sometimes get greedy and try to use a pokemon w/ half the cp of the defender and lose :/

3rd 10k egg in a row that's resulted in eevee too...

I caught a 96% Dratini today. It's just such a pain in the ass finding them in large quantities though. I'm at 40 Candy right now so that's still a long ways to go.

fris fris I can't hatch higher Magmars, I'm already level 24. I've never even seen one in the wild. Did you see the screenshot of my top 12 mons?

Midwest winters are not a 'little weather'. It may not be full on Minnesota weather, but our winters are pretty awful.

I'm real curious what's going to happen in winter with Pokemon up here in NYC also. I need 4 more to complete the pokedex. Other than that I'm powering up my fighters with stardust candy, or making new fighters with high IV. I made level 30 so I don't really care much about leveling up now. My top dragonite is maxed for level 30 at 3041 CP with a good ability set.

I really don't see how the game maintains much interest when it's cold as balls outside. Florida and the Gulf Coast and the other super southern states will do ok I guess but it's going to be dangerously cold to be outside all day some days.

I have been grinding out the pokemon I need with PokeWhere open 24/7. Pokewhere be the shit... No ghosting like Go Radar has. You can build a filter list to search for just what you want. It has a kick ass scan feature that finds pokemon better than the standard visual scan. I honestly can't state how much fun it's been to use Pokewhere as a companion tool to hunt down the pokemon I need to make Charmanders, Dragonites and finish off the evolutions I'm missing or find other pokemon I need to battle or just fill out my pokedex. I mean this game is fucking FUN with a search tool. The built in search tool fucking sucks. The game is waaaaay too random.

I would be ok if the range was like 1/2 mile or 1 mile around. Go Radar showed the 3 stats of pokemon which was really cool. I caught a perfect Kabuto just because it was perfect... Rare to find those in any type. Niantic is seriously fucking up imo if they don't make a really good search feature within the game. It significantly improved enjoyment of the game for me. I could go to Central Park or read online where the nests are if the map didn't show where spawns are greater than a 1/2 mile away but not having something guide me right into a pokemon is near pointless, especially when 3rd party apps are going to continue to find ways to scan where pokemon are.

Combat seriously needs to improve. Lapras and Snorlax are just annoying to fight at gyms. Dragonites are fun to battle and fun to battle with. Fighting with Snorlax is boring. He's just a big boring tool that has a lot of HP. Earthquate and his hyper beam are pretty good but Snorlax is more a gym defender. I've been fighting gyms recently letting my top guys stay dead so I can fight with my shittier pokemon just to see how they are in combat.

There are soooo many improvements they could make to the game. It's not bad but it could really, really use some basic mods to dramatically improve the fun factor. Need more Pokemon soon too!!!! I love catching new ones. I wish the pokedex was thousands, so much fun to catch new ones or evolve them.

People will just use GPS hacks again and claim it's okay because the weather sucks and they aren't able to play normally.

My tale is as follows.

I woke up at around 9pm last night with the intention of heading to my usual Lapras hunting grounds in Odaiba early in the morning rather than from the afternoon until last train like I usually do. I was hoping the shake up to the schedule might flush out the elusive Lapras that had evaded me on my previous four trips.

I load up with a spare Galaxy S5 battery, and my portable external battery, enough juice to last me 10 hours at least, and hit the trains, making my way to my usual camping spot by 9:30am. Now it's summer in Japan so I'm wearing board shorts and a thin cotton polo shirt. Weather report says fine but humid. The first few hours are fairly quiet. I pick up a few Eggescute, level up to 29, power up my mons. A few rares spawn around me, dewgong, hitmonlee, jynx. I ignore them. I just sit on the lure zone and keep tossing balls at the dime a dozen pokemon that keep spawning.

It's starting to drizzle now. My seat is under a tree that keeps me dry, but everyone around me is popping umbrellas and the wind picks up. I'm starting to get cold, really cold. I've been up for about 16 hours at this point, and I'm starting to get pessimistic. It looks like my fourth trip to Odaiba will be the worst so far, since there wasn't even any other pokemon I needed, just this fucking Lapras who never spawns except when I'm not here.

Ii starts to rain more heavily. The leaves of the tree are starting to drip water down now. My Galaxy S5 is waterproof, but unfortunately I left the house without the plug that covers the charging port and water could potentially be an issue. I'm also falling asleep at this point. Im tired, cranky, hungry, and I relocate under shelter nearby with the other pokemon go players, huddling for warmth. I check the vending machines for a hot coffee - nothing. Settle for a cold espresso and pound it down to keep myself awake.

I told myself I would go and get some ramen and then go home once my last battery is down to 50%. My external battery is drained, my first regular battery is at 5%, and all of a sudden I see people running. Quickly checking the map I see it's just a Porygon. Another 10 minutes watching the rain come down over the ocean and I'm over it. I'm going home. The wind is freezing me to the bone.

My battery goes dead and I stop to slide in my fresh one. Again I see people running. Really running this time. People are sprinting north in the pounding rain, slipping, sliding, falling over. Everyone around me is shouting, but I don't hear any pokemon names that I recognize. I start to get excited. Could this be it? I hear someone shout "RAPRASU" and my heart starts to beat faster. I begin to worry. The people running for it are really booking it. I've seen Lapras spawn before but always on lures, so that's just 3 minutes to get there. It's raining and I'm not willing to run and risk hurting myself. Maybe it's too far away to get?

Finally my phone powers back on and I see it. There's a Lapras 800m away, 13 minute despawn. I can get it. I can get it! My phones at 100% charge (which makes it look like I was spoofing, but fuck it) so I don't have to worry about it dying, but it's pissing down rain and I'm worried my phone is going to short out. I join the massive crowd of people making their way to the spawn. Hundreds, thousands of people converging in one place. There's some kind of festival going on and the people there watch in amazement, filming as the horde of people run, skid, walk their way by on the way to the prize. Finally I see it on the map. You will be mine.

I'm torn. I've been thinking. If it's a strong one, that would be great for me, but maybe I won't be able to catch it. If it's weak, it's useless for fighting, but easy to catch, and my Dex gets complete. Which do I want? I settle on a weak one. I just want to be /done/ with this cursed Lapras hunt.

3TJcQG8.jpg

Fuck. That is not a weak Lapras. FUCK! I mean sweet it's a powerful Lapras but if I can't catch it....

The rain is pouring down. I switch to ultraballs, use a berry, and try to throw a pokeball. It goes nowhere. The rain on the screen is interfering with the touch sensor and I can't throw a pokeball. Fuck! I pull a cloth out of my pocket and try to wipe it off. Try throwing a ball, it goes barely far enough to catch a pidgey and this fucking Lapras is at long range. I wipe the screen again and hunch myself over far as I can and start tossing balls it. Ultra balls go everywhere but none hit the Lapras... until one does. It pops back out immediately. FUCK!

I use another berry and keep tossing balls. The crowd is jostling me every which way. I sneak my phone under someones umbrella and continue to try to throw the ball far enough. It either goes nowhere or doesn't go far enough. I'm not worried about time but my heart is racing. Finally I get a long range ball off. It hits. One rock. Two Rocks. Three rocks. YES!.

Now to see the spoils. It's pretty powerful. Even if it's low IV, it will be useful as long as it has the right moveset...

7kmFulo.png

Perfect moveset! Fuck yeah!

I celebrate by getting delicious Saporo Miso ramen in the nearby Ramen theme park. because I'm cold and fat.

it's not until I get home that I think to check the IV's..

Hatched a Lapras just right now, but mine is 20 (obviously) and 78% :(

At least, I ditched the 55% level 10 one I had in the 'dex.

After thinking about it a bit, I freely admit I'm seriously contemplating spending the winter using an emulator to 'vacation' in California if I'm confident I won't get banned. Here in the Midwest once the first snow comes the ground typically stays icy and unfit for cycling for the majority of the season, which means I won't be able to do shit for like 3 months.
Shenanigans! Fat tires will get you anywhere!

It may be moot anyway, I did some googling and it looks like not allowing rooted devices shut down emulators for good. I doubt the developers of Nox care enough to keep trying to get around Niantic's anti-cheating measures if Niantic isn't going to give up, and despite its popularity Go is just one game out of hundreds.
