Can one of the people who agreed with me about the trailers making it look bad tell me if they like the movie or not? Alternatively, is it anything like the Transformer movies (They bored the shit out of me, I fell asleep during 2 and 3)?

movie wasn't great but wasn't awful. i'd give it like a 6/10. best part was Rita grabbing the Red Ranger's dick.

This was so so so close to being an excellent action movie. When they do the inevitable squeal they need to decide on a tone instead of flipping between 2 of them, it got jarring.

I never watched more than episode or two of Power Rangers, but I enjoyed this movie quite a bit. A good helping of cheese, obviously, but it had that Chronicle feel but with the angst replaced by fun and silliness.

I sort of felt Rita looked terrible, but as I said, never watched the original so I could be off-base with that opinion.

Pink ranger is cute, and I know she's fairly young IRL, but there were times she looked 30+. Was kind of weird.

I agree with Keg's 6/10 assessment.

I just got home from seeing this.

It was acceptable. Wasn't terrible, but wasn't great either. They spent a lot of time on the character's back stories. IE - Who they are, and why they all know each other. But virtually no time at all was spent learning the Ranger armor. Then even less time was spent learning the Zords. And then how the fuck did they actually make Mega-Zord, whey they didn't know how to do shit with the normal ones. Special shout out for Kimberly from the show being in the crowd towards the end.

Oh, and after credit scene. Stupid flute ranger.

This fell off very hard in terms of box office. $117M worldwide versus a $100M production budget. Probably won't be seeing a sequel.

Just got around to this.

Above average for this type of movie. Spent a bit too long on the "teamwork" message.

The real fuckup however is the soundtrack. I think this movie died there entirely. Instrumentals, shitty licensed rock/rap, eletronic pos during the climax...
They play the classic theme during a retarded zord running scene for about 5seconds. instead of the megazord climax fight... What the fuck?

This is like Doom. The soundtrack needed to be metal as fuck. This is what Doom 2016 would have been, if they didn't go with the metal soundtrack. Mediocre in every way.
This movie needs a metal soundtrack rescore. 100% better movie.

I saw it when it was in theaters. It was decent enough, but very forgettable.

Weak first and second acts with a typical hollywood 'splosions third act. The acting was mediocre to awful even for a kids film.

The only praise I can offer is that it could have been worse.

Power Rangers isn't meant to be grim dark, it's meant to be campy. The first movie from the '90s was much better.

everyone loves a good conspiracy theory and i'm TRYING to stay neutral but with the hwood anon drops recently i'm just...

kimberly (pink ranger) sends a nude picture of one of her friends (i guess?) to the whole school. there's no real explanation of WHY she did it, and it's kind of a throw away line acknowledging that it probably wasn't a cool thing, but the movie paints KIMBERLY as the victim. it doesn't really say WHY, but we're just supposed to feel bad that she's been ostracized at her school for what she did. "You did a bad thing, that doesn't make you a bad person"

uh. no. that does make you a bad person. you violated the sexuality of a MINOR for little to no reason.

...

all of hollywood needs to burn.

She implies why she did it, pretty heavily. "I showed it to John. And told him, is this the girl you want to date?" She was jealous of the girl, and wanted him to herself.
And, its pretty clear even from the beginning while the other girls are being mean to her etc. its because of something she did. And when, admitting it to Jason, she is pretty clear about understanding what she did, how it hurt the girl, and her family, and regrets it.

its from her point of view, sure. We dont really see ourselves the others. and, no she never makes amends directly. But, they do make it clear, she regrets it. And she learned a lesson from it.
Doing a bad thing doesn't make you bad. Doing a bad thing and not regretting it, does. If you learn nothing, and are willing to do it again.

from a generic standpoint, i completely agree with you. my problem is the LEVEL of the thing she did. maybe it's because i've had to deal with this exact issue, but they just were so passive about the damage this causes. in the movie they treated it on the same playing field as if she was just mean to her, maybe bullied her a little.

it's just a weird situation and i'll admit i have a really bad taste in my mouth from nonsense hollywood messages, but it really comes out like someone was trying to say that as long as you apologize, whatever you did should have no repercussions. a lot like what everyone is saying about james gunn. it's just weird man...
